Nestled in a convenient location, La Vela Saigon Hotel is celebrated for its stunning atmosphere and luxurious vibe, with a beautifully decorated lobby and breathtaking views. However, some guests have experienced noisy disturbances, citing ineffective soundproofing. The service receives mixed reviews, with commendations for friendliness but critiques regarding occasional disorganization. Cleanliness is a strong point, with travelers appreciating immaculate rooms and facilities. While the rooftop pool's views are a hit, limited sunbeds and some maintenance issues have been mentioned. Opinions on value vary, balancing affordability with concerns over service quality.

Spent 3 nights in this Hotel in early February.
It was comfortable, albeit rooms were small as was the bathroom. The issues we faced were that the exterior door to the small balcony could NOT be locked and there was only a low glass partition separating our room from the rooms on either side. It was a security issue when out of the room and when sleeping. The balcony is VERY SMALL you cant even fit a chair. Also the room safe was a joke as it just sat in the bottom of the cupboard and you could pick it up and carry it out the door.
Breakfast was good except the juices were some reconstituted product not freshly squeezed. We were a little annoyed as we wanted to try their acclaimed seafood buffet for either lunch or dinner. However due to TET (Lunar New Year) the staff advised that it would not be held as there were no outside guests around to attend. In other words stuff the in-house guests. The only option whilst we were there was the in-house chinese restaurant everything else around was closed.
The pool was nice but appeared to be a location where everyone wanted to take photos for their social media profiles. The pool does need maintenance as a lot of tiles are loose and falling off leaving many sharp edges.
Overall the Hotel was ok for a couple of days but no more.

This hotel is very very easy to get to. We took the 109 red bus from the airport to the bus stop 1/2 block from hotel same street 15 minutes at a cost of 60,000 VND for both of us including baggage. You don't need a taxi. The hotel staff were welcoming, professional and lovely. The hotel itself is interesting as it is very modern but we ran into issues in the rooms because the doors to the bathroom and shower recess open backwards making it difficult to enter them. But all was good. Breakfast is definitely 5 star and the best inclusion - do it. Views from the breakfast balcony were breathtaking. The infinity pool on the 27th floor is the best in HCMC with panoramic views of the city and at night it is magical. The only complaint we had was that although there was a children's pool some guests took their infant in diapers into the adult pool. No one said anything. This area serves food/liquor so we felt that the staff should be more mindful of adult needs. Also be aware the pool has day passes for people who are not staying at the hotel. There are few loungers but there are extensive seating areas that could accommodate loungers and be better utilized. To get around use taxi's but only the metered ones as the traffic is death defying and taxis are cheap. We at the Danger Zone across the street from the hotel food was okay but nothing special. We went to the Propaganda Restaurant which had a 5 star review on trip advisor and although the ambience was excellent the food was terrible and very very expensive. We would not recommend it. Do not miss going to Book Street which is next to Notre Dame Cathederal and the Post Office. We also went to the Reunification Palace but felt that it each room was so similar and not worth the money. But the history is interesting. We walked to many places but be careful of GPS as it sent us on a few wild goose chases. The hop on hop off bus we did not do but may be the way to go. We went to the Botanical Gardens which has a zoo and an amusement park for kids attached. The zoo was very hard to see as the animals are in very small cages and some obviously distressed. The amusement part of the gardens is very old and seemed poorly maintained. It cost to go in and the botanical gardens are poor and very small. Would not recommend. The Vietnamese Museum is at the same place with a separate fee to enter but be aware they close from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm each day. The HCMC airport does not have a lot of places to eat or areas where you can relax while waiting for your flight. The Ben Thanh Market is worth a look see.

+ sensational, large pool with very comfortable loungers
the number of loungers is too low, but there are always some available. This is a wonderful way to chill out after sightseeing.
Be careful! If you have a disability, there is a hidden elevator that takes you to the pool deck. Just ask, you won't be made aware of it.
+ great breakfast, whatever your heart desires, we can now judge from several hotels in Vietnam
+ dim sum and other buffets in the evening if you don't want to leave the hotel
+ friendly staff, good English is spoken in the important places. Single glazing in the windows, but it didn't bother us. We were on the 16th floor.
Sometimes you have to wait a relatively long time for the elevator at peak times
- we stayed there twice, the carpets in both rooms, probably in the whole hotel, need to be replaced
- the breakfast and dinner opening times lose points, they are far too short
also good to know:
the hotel is in the 3rd district, close to the airport, but no noise pollution. The 1st district is more of a sightseeing district, where you can easily do everything on foot.
A Grab taxi there costs around €1 and takes 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic.

This hotel was in need of a renovation. The hotel was minimum standard for 5 star in my opinion. The hard floors in the lifts abs lobby were extremely slippery when wet which could occur from people going in the lifts from the pool. The price of the drinks and food at the pool was higher then anywhere else we have experienced and we believed was way too expensive. The pool was nice being a roof top infinity pool but also needed a lot of repair work. The swim up bar was closed the whole time. The breakfast was OK not great if you are a foody the food was not as good as the banh mi off a little cart down the street. The service was good. The staff were quite attentive and friendly. The soap in our bathroom was never replaced we got sick of asking so decided to buy our own instead. The area The hotel was in wasn't great. District 1 will be the next area we will stay in. I wouldn't stay here again.

This grand hotel was a last minute choice after changing our booking from another hotel.
The hotel is in a good location to get around but we found the noise from the road too much even at night and we were on a high floor. In hindsight, we should have chosen a hotel in a quieter location.
The staff overall were good, pleasant and responsive although others would benefit from some additional training.
We had some challenges during our stay and had a long interaction with the manager who did a very good job and showed a genuine willingness to resolve them.
We had to bring our luggage from the taxi all the way to the reception desk which was in contrast to the other 5* hotels we had stayed in and this wasn’t a good start.
Some food produce at breakfast could be of better quality and fresher like the pastries.
Some areas of the hotel are in need of a renovation, there is evidence of wear and tear in the rooms but more so in the shared areas. The best thing about the hotel is the roof top pool but the tiles have come off in many parts creating gaps that make it a hazard.
The most staff do their best like in the pool area where they were great and we had some good banter with.

Unfortunately we did not feel this was a 5 star hotel. From the public bathrooms to the state of the pool, hallways etc - a lot of maintenance is required. For example the soap dispensers were either not there or not working, cleaning equipment left lying around in bathrooms, doors didn’t lock properly etc - just not 5 star more like 3.

The pool is stunning with views forever however the tiles in the pool are falling off and the mod wood timber board walks are lifting and dangerous. Our son sliced his foot open while swimming in the pool on one of the many broken tiles. This meant we had to change the rest of our holiday plans as he couldn’t put pressure on his foot and we needed to keep it dry and infection free.

Our room was very noisy at night with bikes and party noise coming up from the street into our room (on the 11th floor). After our second night of not sleeping well we put a call into reception to let them know how noisy our room was. Without consultation while we were out the next day they deactivated our room key so once we returned from our days activity out we returned to our room to discover we could not get in. It took over an hour and 3 trips down to reception to rectify the situation. Meanwhile our kids sat in the corridor when all we wanted to do was to get up to the pool. By the time we got there it was dark so we missed sun set.

We also found there were a lot of staff but lots standing around with not a lot to do.

We gave the hotel this feedback to help them improve as it has so much potential. They accepted our feedback and were apologetic for all the problems we encounter arranging a car to the airport for us - which we appreciated.

The hotel is located in District 3 in Ho Chi Minh City and is well located for the city center. The welcome at reception was also very friendly when we checked in.
Unfortunately, everything else left a lot to be desired for a 5-star hotel. The pool area was completely overcrowded when we arrived at the hotel. We were given towels and told we could queue up. If something became available, we could also lie by the pool.
Other guests were smoking in the pool itself. The hotel staff did nothing about this either. In the meantime, other guests had converted the bar area to create a shady spot with the few loungers available, as there was no shade. There was also work being done at the pool itself, including cutting materials. Relaxation sounds different.
This was unfortunately no exception. Loud music was played on the other days, a fashion show was taking place at the pool and the pool bar itself was not open for a day.
The staff were busy with themselves or with the attractions; orders could only be placed after actively contacting them.
The room itself was very nice and spacious. Unfortunately, the drain in the shower area was blocked or broken, so the water didn't drain away. The entire bathroom was completely under water after every shower. The room was cleaned every day but not cleaned. It wasn't until the second day that the sink was cleaned and the empty water bottles (used for brushing teeth) were thrown away.

In summary, the hotel is very nice to look at, but not a 5-star hotel in the sense you would expect, especially considering that the standard is a little different in Asia.

I would rate this hotel a solid 7/10.
I find the facilities are absolutely excellent, there is no exception for this. In regards to the food offering, it is top quality with different international cuisines at the breakfast buffet. I do not have any reservations in regards to the catering, housekeeping or the room.
I would have to rate down the service planning however, in that department I find a total lack of coordination from event organisers, events always being hosted in grave high numbers & absolutely dwarfs the atmosphere.
It does create a crowded atmosphere similar to that of a shopping mall.

I would recommend for management to cut back on the amount of events hosted, whilst staying, I experienced about 5 different weddings on the same day in different locations within the hotel. This resulted in the rooftop infinity pool area having 50% of it closed off to the public. Music blasted out loud with the coordinator constantly interrupting the peaceful atmosphere by blasting on the microphone.

I would sincerely hope if you do book this hotel to ensure there are not multiple events running, otherwise the facilities for use would be really restrictive.

We checked in for 2 nights in HMC before flying home. We booked a luxury deluxe room with a view of the river. The room and bathroom were spacious and spotless.

We prearranged a transfer from the airport to the hotel and I can’t recommend this enough, it eliminates the overwhelming hustle and bustle at the airport.

The balcony was small but great to check out the view and temperature.

The breakfast buffet was large with everything you could want, the rooftop pool is amazing and the cocktails at the bar were delicious.

We had the dim sum buffet on our first night and the food was delicious, being able to order fresh from a menu was great.

On our last day, we had to check out at 12pm but we weren’t flying until 10.35pm. The hotel kindly stored our luggage and allowed us to use the hotel facilities for the afternoon/evening.

We always use grab for our travels but at the time we were leaving there was a storm and cars were in high demand.

The doorman kindly flagged a car for us and negotiated a price cheaper than grab so we didn’t have to wait in the rain. I can’t tell you how much this was appreciated before a long flight home.

Remember, this city doesn’t sleep so you will hear karaoke until 1am and relentless horns and sirens but this isn’t the hotels fault.

The price of pool day pass is okay if you will be going for a few hours and to watch the sunset. The drinks are very expensive compared locally however you expect this from any rooftop bar, getting a bottle is proportionally better than lots of small drinks.

Our first visit we arrived around 4pm, the staff were very busy setting up a wedding and also closed off half the pool at 4:30. This was not mentioned at the reception or pool reception to us before paying. After 3 times asking for a drinks menu we decided we weren’t happy with what we had paid, spoke to a few members of staff and they offered a free return the following day. The next day was perfect and the staff had plenty of time and were super polite, really enjoyed it.

I have rated 4/5 because i think it is important in future to let people know from midday if there is a private event and the full area/bar won’t be available, and actually fully close to the public if this is the case as-well, i would recommend calling ahead to ask about this if you plan to come at the weekend for a day pass!

You will get a better view from a higher floor there, but I don't recall which rooms face which way. If you really want a nice view. go up to the top where the pool and bar are.
