Hotel is nice and central, with a supermarket directly opposite and plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, markets in the area.
I requested a quiet room after reading reviews from other travellers about the noise - this was well worth doing and I had a great sleep throughout my stay.
Superb mattress, plenty of pillows and soft sheets.
Shower pressure fantastic.
Breakfast was disappointing, very limited range and poor coffee (a small Nescafé machine). Considering Vietnam offers wonderful coffee in every other place I visited, this was confusing!
Had a brilliant Vietnamese massage in the spa, which was slightly marred by the therapist insisting on walking me to my room to collect her money (which I had pre-agreed to add to my room bill and pay on checkout). This needs better communication between reception & spa.

Overall an enjoyable stay, with a few areas for improvement,

Location and the Lamenda Cafe downstairs are the only 2 good things about this hotel…
This hotel is rated 5 stars on booking.com and I wouldn’t say it is.
The breakfast was horrible, the coffee just as bad, our first room had water leaking from the roof that wet my stuff and was the size of a shoebox. Our second room after complaining about the leak was better and bigger but the bed was worse off..
The pool area was okay, not as clean and nice looking as the photos but did the job on the warm days.
The Lamenda cafe downstairs was amazing, their pizza was fantastic and always friendly staff.
Wouldn’t stay here again nor recommend it as a 5 star hotel unless it suited someone’s budget and they didn’t care about the above non delights.

The hotel itself is quite clean and pleasing to the eyes. My room was pleasant and the bed was very comfortable. However, the service wasn't quite as pleasant. The staff were not as accomodating as I'd hope for. Smiles from the staff were also quite uncommon. Furthermore, the breakfast during my stay was not good for a 4-star hotel. The selections were very limited and the food was not good. On the other hand, the service that I experienced during breakfast was decent. There was one waiter (forgot his name) who was kind and accomodating.

Dear donpapapalma Many thanks for choosing to stay with A&EM during your stay in Saigon. We appreciate your feedback and are pleased to hear you enjoyed the hotel experience, your room and breakfast service. The waiter that spoke with you during your stay, is name is Thien, and I have shared your kind comments with him this morning. During the quiet days affected by the current global situation we have faced the difficult task to reduce breakfast quantities due to lower business levels. However I am pleased to advise we have already increased the buffet selection with several more dishes back to being available as usual. You will be able to notice an immediate change. We have briefed the team about your comments about service with a smile and will pay extra attention as they are normally well-known for their friendly hospitality. Thanks again and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future. Best reards Michael Barker, Group General Manager

Was originally recommended this hotel by a Vietnamese local and being my second stay and having stayed at other hotels in Saigon, this hotel has the boutique charm, well appointed rooms and good service. I have stayed in the VIP Suite and the standard rooms and the standard rooms are small but nice and the larger suite is about the same size as a deluxe room at a larger hotel.

But what I love about this hotel is the location, great bar and coffee place on the ground for people watching, hop skip jump to Ben Thanh market and lots of massage, nail, other bars, cafes and restaurants plus a very short taxi to anywhere in District 1

This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Saigon and across from the Ben Thanh Market. That is one of the biggest well known market places by the local and tourist. They used to stay open until very late at night but because of Covid, they’re all closed by around 9pm now. There’s a pharmacy right next to the hotel and that’s another plus cause many times I needed medicines such as mouth wash, mosquito lotion, and tummy medicines. Overall, I like most is the location and how it’s convenient for tourist who doesn’t have a vehicle like me and my friend.

The hotel’s own cafe blasts out very loud techno music from early evening until 2am on weekdays and 3am at weekends. I know these times because I was wide awake each night listening to extremely loud thudding music reverberating through the room. It was so so noisy and impossible to sleep. What is really annoying about this is that it is the hotel’s own cafe that is blasting this music out - so management have made an active decision not to turn the music down/off to let their guests get some sleep. If they cared about their guests they could easily fix this by switching the music off by midnight.

Breakfast is poor and uninspiring with very little choice. We were there for five nights but didn’t bother with the breakfast after the second day.

Rooms are small - the photos make them look much larger than they actually are. I went back to check my booking as I thought we’d been downgraded! We had two cases and they took up most of the room space.

Overall it was extremely disappointing - there are better places to stay.

Stayed at this hotel a few times and have to say I’ve now found my hotel of choice. Great location near to everything, food, markets, attractions are all a short walk away. Very good breakfast and a rooftop pool. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff are always helpful and willing to lend a hand. The hotel has a great cafe and bar downstairs on the corner which is a great spot to relax and people watch. Ask for Michael the GM from New Zealand who will always stop by for a friendly chat. Will be back again and highly recommended for anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh.

I have been staying at this hotel regularly. This is writing an update review for the hotel. They've had quite a significant improvement in their hotel grounds, some minor renovation here and there, and getting better. This round came with a couple of clients, and they were staying in the VIP rooms while I took up executive suite room. Room layouts are different but general comfort is all good

We stayed at the same hotel last year and we found it to be very good. But unfortunately this year we have found there standards have dropped considerably. We found the bed tone very hard like sleeping on concrete the room was very clean but overwhelmed with the smell of stale cigarette smoke coming in from the air-conditioning. When arrived they had told us our stay was cancelled due to not checking the day before as our flight was delayed and had messaged to say we will be in late they didn't bother checking there messages. Breakfast was bland and no variety as like last year the juices was so watered down there was no taste. Also the gentleman in charge of the dining area displayed some very strange behaviour. There is a issue with mold in the elevator which is a health hazard we tried to explain it to staff and there solution was to spray air freshner. It represents itself as a 4 star hotel this hotel is old and lacking maintenance. Much better accommodation can be found elsewhere. We won't be staying at this hotel again.

This was our second stay at the hotel and it was a definite improvement on the first stay. We were upgraded to an Executive room which was much nice than the first. The room was on the 7th floor, it was light and bright and a lot more room.
The pool had been cleaned but was still not totally mould free.
Breakfast is nice if you get in early otherwise there is nothing left. They don’t seem to restock it. There is a great variety of choice from western omelette to Vietnamese soup to rice porridge. They do cater well.
There are still small things to improve on but a great step up.
The receptionist was very helpful and we were able to extend our stay till the evening as we had a late flight home.
Right near the market if that’s your thing but also close to sights and restaurants.
