This hotel was VERY GOOD as far as friendly staff and very accommodating towards any needs or request that my wife and I had. Honestly the rooms are very affordable and the staff are so cool that they even let you see available rooms before you decide to book it in person (if there are any open ones). Originally we had a normal sized room which we booked online but decided that we needed more space, so the receptionist showed us another room that wasn’t vacant and allowed us to upgrade for not that much more.
One of the awesome things about this hotel is the services they offer. Such as laundry, which they fold and put each clothe separately as just the basic service. They also have free breakfast each morning from 7am-11am on the rooftop so you can see the city as you eat and the menu selection is catered to westerners such as eggs/bacon ect.. but also local dishes relevant to Vietnam. The kitchen/server are extremely nice and very fast with service.
Overall this hotel is central to lots of things to do nearby and great for walking which we did a lot of. We had such a great time that we plan to come back to this hotel again in the near future.

Loved being walking distance to the War Remnants Museum, Post Office, Notre Dame, Opera House and so much more. For retail therapy you have Lucky Market a street away or all the high end stores a street the other way. Something for everyone. As in large cities the room is small by our standards, but quite comfortable anyway. Breakfast is served on the top floor and the little waitress was one of our favourite people we met on our holiday. Very welcoming stay by all the staff. Well done guys.

Absolutely perfect location, in the heart of everything, very central, easy to get around. Literally right next to the main street near the Ho Chi Minh statue. Lots of shops, restaurants etc. There is a fantastic coffee bar diagonally across on the junction. Sit up on the balcony and overlook the traffic and the noise with a relaxing peppermint mocha with cream and chocolate sauce! The staff were very helpful and even opened up early so we could have breakfast before we had to leave. Also a very good foot massage just downstairs. Our room was quite small and basic, just one small window to the side, but not a problem.

We only had a few hours in this city between coming off a boat on the Mekong and flying on the next day and wanted somewhere quiet and central. This hotel ticked both the boxes. It is in a great location within easy walking distance of the sights and many restaurants. We had asked for a quiet room when we booked and that is what we were given. The room was a reasonable size and the bathroom was also a good size with a good shower. The bed was large and comfortable. We had breakfast - cooked dish, fruit juice and coffee - on the rooftop which was a nice start to the day. The receptionist organised a 'Grab' taxi to take us to the airport. Everything worked out well at this hotel and for the price we couldn't fault it.

We arrived at 7 am in the morning and the people at the front desk looked confused. We have booked a superior twin bed room and the first thing front desk clerk says “you need pay 10 dollars more for a twin room, you booked standard” After 40 minutes trying to understand why in the world do we have to pay more for something already paid in advance, please notice that the front desk clerk was ignoring any of our questions his only response was pay more to get your room!! Finally the manager appeared, we were hoping that him will be able to sort out the problem. All he did was to repeat the same sentences that the front desk clerk only with a Australian accent, the manager has NO idea how to manage his hotel, how to treat people, he is completely uneducated, his staff do not seem to have an idea of what they are dong, in one sentence NO idea of what customer service is. It is a shame he spoiled my last day in Vietnam and left me with a sour feeling for the city. Make yourself a favor and DO NOT stay in this hotel.

Traveled all over central and southern Vietnam in April. During my stay in Ho Chi Minh (formerly known as Saigon), I was lucky to find this little gem in the middle of the city. I found the rooms to be very inexpensive for the location. The rooms offer plentiful storage space for your luggage as well as a safe for your valuables. Every room has a nice size bathroom with a great tub for soaking. The air conditioning works really well especially when you need a break from the extreme heat of the city. They also serve complimentary breakfast every morning, so make sure to get their early since seating is very limited.

Tips when staying there:
1. You are located around some really nice restaurants and shopping centers so it is easily to walk and explore. I walked almost everywhere.
2. If you do opt to take public transportation, look for cabs that are VINASUN. They are the most trusted taxi service in the area and very cheap too!
3. They do have dry cleaning service and that was also very inexpensive. It literally cost me under $10 for a huge bag of clothes.
4. I found myself hanging out a lot at the Grand Saigon hotel which is two blocks away. That hotel has a little casino, great roof top bar and restaurant and also a nice spa (which gives 40% off treatments before 3pm). So I got the perks of an expensive hotel without staying at one.
5. There is a restaurant around the corner called Pho 24 which is great for people on a budget. You can get their basic Pho for just 29,000 Viet dongs which equals to $1.37 USD! I ate there a couple of times during my stay.
6. When traveling through Vietnam you must leave your passport at the front desk at most hotels. I don't know about you, but I don't feel comfortable leaving that with some stranger. So it's important to make photo copies since most hotels including this one will accept them.

The two most important things for me when staying at any hotel: The cleanliness of the hotel and the comfort of the bed. Both were perfectly fine for me, but I do like my beds a little harder then plush. I grew very familiar with Ho Chi Minh city and would gladly stay here again!

I stayed four nights at the Tan Hoang Long. I wanted a hotel in District 1, and it was a good choice.

I had a deluxe room on the sixth floor and it was clean and quiet. There was no view, but I was there for a secure and quiet place to spend the night. My room was nicely furnished with a queen size bed and small safe. The room was compact, but had sufficient space for two (great AC). There were packets of coffee and tea, a kettle, and two small bottles of drinking water were provided each day. There was a small refrigerator with some soda and beer. The bathroom was fine (the floor can get wet), and soap, shampoo and other items were provided. There was free Wi-Fi, and two PC terminals in the lobby.

My rate included a simple breakfast, and it was ordered from a menu that had both western and Asian foods. Coffee, tea, juice and several fruits were also provided. The food was well prepared and enough to get me going.

I really liked the location. There were many places nearby that offered various menus, along with dining atmospheres from casual to formal. The Rex Hotel is a very short walk away. Read about the history of the Rex and have a drink at the bar. For a fusion night of decent food and a good selection of foreign beers: take a left out of the hotel, make a left at the corner, and down on the left will be a Bier Garden. Across the street from the hotel was a small coffee shop for takeout, or to buy some beans to bring home. As others have mentioned, it was also an easy walk to such attractions as the Reunification Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral. I didn’t see a lot of sidewalk cafes in this area: for those I needed to go more towards the “backpacker” area, and that was a long walk (take a taxi).

I used the hotel to arrange a tour of the Cu Chi tunnels. I went up by boat and came back by bus. I liked the boat ride. I arranged my own trip to Vung Tau, and it was very easy. It was a short walk to the river; I bought roundtrip tickets the day before and used Vina Express. Their boats looked a little better maintained than the others. I left HCMC on the 08:30 boat, returned on the 14:30 boat, and both boats left on time. I enjoyed my time in Vung Tau (check out the cable car).

The staff at the hotel was very friendly and always helpful. I felt very welcome and secure there. On my departure day I paid to keep my room late and checked out at 17:30. They got me a Mai Linh taxi, the meter cost 110,000 VND, and I was in line at the airport around 18:00.

I would not hesitate to again stay at the Tan Hoang Long hotel.

We arrived for check in after booking with Agoda a superior room. They tell us if we want twin beds we need to pay more as it is a different category. When we ask, what category is it. Superior???
We are still at reception, 2 hours later, and nothing is solved. They look and smile. HORRENDOUS service. Will never even come close to this place.

Just completed a stay at this hotel in early Dec.
We had two rooms on different floors, both faced the front street (Mac Thi Buoi). The twin rooms were very spacious. Amenities such as hairdryers, in-room safe, etc were provided. TV had quite a few English channels. Some minor maintenance issues (big crack through the toilet door) but otherwise, the housekeeping staff do a really good job of keeping the room clean and they're friendly and polite too. Strong aircon in the room provides relief from HCM heat outside. Free WIFI available throughout the hotel and rooms. 2 PCs available near the front desk for use if needed.
Staff were friendly and front desk spoke adequate level of English. There is a VinaSun taxi rep stationed at the front entrance so if you need a taxi, he'll hail one for you and tell the driver where to go. Meters were always used. Very useful to get to the airport as well. He hailed a large cab in order to fit 4 adults and all of our suitcases. Cost was about 7-8 USD which was cheaper than the hotel's USD 22 which I had taken upon arrival as I was unfamiliar with HCM and recommended for first time visitors.
There is supposed to be some construction nearby but we didnt experience any disturbance from it. Well, HCM itself is a very busy and noisy city so any noise may have been lost in all the general din.
The hotel is very well situated off the main strip of Dong Khoi where you can find stores, restaurants and cafes. For muslims, the mosque is located diagonally behind the hotel on Dong Du which is maybe 3 mins walk. On this street you can also find halal restaurants which were good and reasonably priced. However if you plan on eating breakfast at the halal restaurants, take note they open only around 10am.
The hotel is also reasonably close to tourist sites. We walked to Notre dame, War Remnants museum and the Reunification Palace. Shopping was easy as Benh Tanh market was within walking distance and the Thuong Xa Tax Centre was across the main road of Nguyen Hue which is beside/behind the hotel. Your only real problem would be trying to cross all the roads. Good luck!
If I do return to HCM, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel and would recommend it to others.

No. It's also a quieter area than the backpacker area for sleeping. It's 1 block from Saigon square, and 3 blocks from the Rex Hotel. There's cool coffee shop across street, and delicious daily breakfast served free at hotel on rooftop deck. Room I had was small but clean.

Take a taxi as it is not expensive I recall it is just about USD5 to USD6. They have the taxi representative just outside the hotel. Only look for the Malihn company taxis or Vinnasun taxis which charges you according to the meter. Alternatively, you can get a Uber, which i heard will be slightly cheaper.
