Everything is ok except INTERNET. Super slow throughout the day, especially night time. Room was nice, bed was a bit hard to sleep. Typical Vietnamese breakfast. Good location in the middle of Dist.1, near almost everything I need. Good budget stay.

i was at the bong sen last week for four nites, i was surpised to see that it was quite a good size hotel and the twin rooms were quite comfortable. Several plus points. We learnt that it is actually a government run hotel, so the exchange rates were good, compared to the airport, S$1 = 9200 dong at the airport while it was S$1 = 9685 dong at the hotel.
my husband's handphone was snatched along le loi street near the ben thanh market by a motorcyclist travelling against the traffic. we had to go to the police station nearby to lodge a report n the police got an interpretor from the hotel without difficulty. we were grateful for the efficient help from the hotel
of course, a big plus is that it's near the shopping street of dong koi, in fact, the hotel is diagonally opposite sheraton hotel, with lots of restaurants nearby
if i return i will stay here again.
however, cos of the bad experience with the loss of the phone, i dont see myself going to HCMC for a while.
it's good to take taxis from the hotel cos the staff takes down the car no. of the taxi, we took a taxi a street away n got ripped off, the meter was rigged, for a ride which would have cost 20,000 dong, the meter read 60,000 dong, the hotel wanted to take down our complaint but couldnt help cos the taxi was not taken from the hotel

I have been traveling to Saigon every year since 1998, and have always stayed at the Bong Sen annex. The staff are very friendly and helpfull. Excellent breakfast is served every morning. Unless you are looking for a large hotel this is the place to stay.

This was my first trip to Vietnam, so I stayed in a higher level of hotel than I normally would in SE Asia. I found the room quite nice, and the staff quite friendly. They also made extra efforts when I came back from a day trip after already having checked out and said I wanted to take a shower, including offering to find a free room for me to borrow for as long as I needed.

That said, both rooms we stayed in had physical problems: a dripping air-conditioner, a toilet that didn't flush so well. But these were pretty minor.

Breakfast: a reasonable selection, not bad. The massage services are kind of sleazy and really oriented towards men, not women. Also the massages weren't so good either.

I might or might not stay here again.

I have just returned today from a 13 night stay at the Bong Sen Hotel, HCM. I booked a deluxe room but when I checked in the room I was given was obviously a standard room as the window looked straight out into the centre concrete cavity of the hotel and all that was on view was air con units from the other rooms. When I told reception I had booked a deluxe room I was told that I had been given a suite which was better than a deluxe room. This was obviously a bit of a try-on as when I laughed they gave me the room I had originally booked with a balcony overlooking Dong Khoi St. This room was fine. The hotel overall was very clean. The staff were very helpful and obliging and happy, always smiling. The bar/cafe had a good selection to choose from and the breakfast was adequate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it is so central to everywhere and good value for money. I would certainly stay there again

The bong Sen hotel was nice although the first room we had only had a window that looked out into the airconditioner cavity in the middle of the building and the breakfast selection was only just average.
The other thing was that the front desk staff weren't very friendly. I would only rate this 2 1/2 stars and some of that was purely for the location..
The front rooms were alot better with a door to get out onto the small balcony.
would probably stay somewhere else next time

This an Asian businessman's hotel. It has a fabulous location across from a major 5* hotel. It has a very well priced foot massage salon upstairs..an experience that will put you quickly to sleep after a long day's walk.

The rooms off the street are small but clean and sufficient. Our bathroom had a constant leak but I am sure that after we left they attended to it.

The staff was efficient and very helpful.

The breakfast buffet was generous and ethnically diverse.

At night you are bang in prime time central..restaurants, coffee shops, crowds..everything you might want.

After organising with our travel agent at home for this hotel and having it confirmed in our itinerary you could imagine our horror that they didn't have our booking. The staff were rude and made out we were at the wrong hotel and we hadn't paid. They were reluctant for us to make a phone call as it was overseas. I give them 1star for the concierge who helped us to their 'other ' hotel so we had a room as they were fully booked and we could find what had happened. We had discovered that all had been paid but they didn't make a reservation. So we have gone to another hotel altogether as the service lacked in both.
I guess beware, there seems to be dodgy business at a lot of hotels. We overheard something like this when we were in Hanoi.

Oh happy days.

Thanks to the Bong Sen Hotel (and my parents for bringing me along), the trip to Vietnam was a massive success. There isn't really much I can say about this hotel that others haven't already said. The location is amazing and you can walk to almost anything from here.

I had no problems with the people at the desk. They helped me out when I needed a needle and thread to repair something, they hooked me up with extra pillows when I needed them, and it was just an all-around air of kindness. The doormen open the door, ask you how things are going, and won't hesitate to make recommendations. I was originally skeptical that they were trying to make some small cash off sending me to a cooperating restaurant but almost everywhere they recommended was delicious, interesting, and priced like the places we found our own so I decided they were just being nice people. High-five to them.

Breakfast at this hotel is delicious and varies from day-to-day. We were there during July so we got to watch the MLB All-Star Game live during breakfast with a bunch of Japanese businessmen and Vietnamese workers. It was a pretty cool experience watching my favorite American sport with people from around the world. That brings me back to the food, every single day had something different. In the week I was there, I had: pork shumai, vegetable dumplings, a few varied kinds of pho (that kind with coagulated pigs blood may sound gross but it was DELICIOUS), cheese, pâté, fried rice, sticky buns, freshly-made omelettes, waffles, cereal, strawberry milk, mango/coconut/lychee juice, and a ton of other things. It was kind of like going to a new restaurant every morning. The secret to getting as authentic an experience as you can is to watch what the workers eat when they get a few minutes of downtime. They always know what the good stuff is :D

The only downfall I really had is the street kids that hang outside the hotel at night. They'll try to get you to buy a bunch of trinkets and junk that light up. The kids at night would insult you to try and get you to buy something so there were a few moments I debated the consequences of punching a Vietnamese teenager and had to buy some rice vodka from the OK (Circle K to the English world) to calm down. Even during the day there is a lot of hassle from people wanting to sell you everything (and I mean EVERYTHING.. yep.. EVERYTHING) but when they're not a-holes about it, it's kind of a weird part of Vietnam's charm and has nothing to do with the hotel itself.

PS: One more thing, there is a little "cafe" to the right of the hotel's entrance. Their pastries are pretty delicious and the restaurant to the left of the entrance doesn't do a half bad buffet. The shrimp toast is A+++

The rooms at Bong Sen are generally small, but the food is fantastic and the location is great. Air conditioning is adequate AND the bathrooms (2nd most important besides a/c) are clean and modern. We would stay here again on our next trip to Saigon. Since we don't generally spend much time in hotel rooms the size was not a big issue.

I haven't seen any spa or massage places within this hotel. However, given the poor hygiene there i wouldn't recommend

do we have to pay for a mini- fridge do you have a shuttle bus to airport
Answer from Jason H
Melbourne, Australia15 contributions24 helpful votes
As the answer says above, if you don't touch the mini fridge you won't get charged. No shuttle bus to or from the airport however there are plenty of taxis available and cheap as well. Mai Linh or VinaSun. They use the meter but just in case he "forgets" just remind him. Ask for rooms facing Dong Khoi Rd, at least get some natural light in your room the others feel like you are in a dungeon!

I stayed there in August 2014, it's non-smoking, and you have got many shopping centers around you, including brand stores such as Gucci, Burberry etc. Enjoy your trip!
