We arrived at around 6pm plus...This place is a bit difficult to locate but just ask some of the local you will get there easily. After our check in, we went out to look for food, then we got to know the short cut way to get to the hotel. Good location, in the backpacker area side street. Quite decent places to eat just around the hostel. Staff was quite friendly and helpful, although not overly english speaking. The Triple room with balcony is very good value. The room with fridge,tv,, beds were good, and the shower was comfortable and warm. The area is calm and quiet, so we could enjoy our sleep for one night. Lots of local eatery, restaurants, pubs and mini marts within short walk to walking street. if there is a lift will be great! Overall, is fine!!!

We stayed here for 4 nights recently and the staff were very accommodating when extending our stay from the original 1 night. We really like the location as it was down a quiet alley between two busy streets. We were amazed at how we couldn't hear any of the street noise but happy with all of the food, shopping and park locations in close proximity. It was a little bit hard to find at first but once you find it, it's very easy to get there as long as you know your alley number! Room and bathroom were spotless and TV had some English channels! Water was warm(ish) and the wifi was hit or miss.

Although not the easiest place to find we thought this place was good value in a pricey (by Vietnmese standards) area. Located in the middle of district one it has all of the cities best sights within waling distance and a host of travel agents to book trips or onward travel with. We left one of our bags in a taxi on our way here and the staff did everything they could to help us get it back.

The owner of this hotel is extremely helpful. She gave you many options of tours/restaurants/etc, including the budget ones, not just recommending what she may receive a commission for. Also helpful in teaching you some useful Vietnamese phrases! She will organise tours for you with Tropic Tours but is not at all pushy. I loved that this hotel was down a bit of a winding alleyway - it felt that every time you went back it was more like going home to your 'apartment' rather than an obvious hotel. And I don't think it's that hard to find - it's 219 Pham Ngu Lau - just find the closest lane to that number on the main street and walk down it (keep left). Rooms very quiet, very basic but a nice clean bed and you can rely on Loan (the owner) to keep your luggage safe if you need to travel elsewhere for a short time. The lady straight across from it will also make you a lovely Vietnamese coffee for 10000dong (50c)! Really great place.

We chose this hotel because of its price but stayed because it was flipping amazing. Clean, tidy, good hosts and in the middle of..well ... Real life. We spent our time here actually mixing with Vietnamese people. We could have stayed in the backpackers area (2 streets but a whole world away). We ate only street food ( no danger) booked good value trips, the host was super helpful and didn't even mind us hanging our washing on her balcony. There were amazing backstreets which were super safe that sold beer at night and fresh smoothies for the morning after.
Even when we stayed out till 4 they let us in
Thanks for an amazing stay I hope every body else loves it as much as we did.

Location
Its deep at the end of a very quiet alley, so you'll need to hunt around for it. However the alley opens up on a very happening and bustling street filled with shops, restaurants and nightlife. Short walk to the Ben Thanh district and very convenient.

Service
The staff are absolutely horrendous. The hotel had an overbooking problem and assigned us another room with no apology. When we first arrived, the toilet was already wet and grubby, there was no toilet paper and we found a PUBIC hair left behind next to the toothbrushes. When we alerted the hosts, they were nonchalant and laughed it off, making jokes instead. Totally unacceptable!

Decor
The rooms are clean, basic and comfortable. However the toilets are awfully grubby. Wifi is also weak in the rooms

Overall only worth it for the location but don't expect much else from them!

If you like walking you can easily make it to all the main attractions from here, and just about every tour and bus company in the city is just down the block. The hotel is right in the middle of the backpackers area of of pham ngu lao (pronounced fam-new-laow). It's difficult to find until you get used to the area, if you need directions on arrival ask either the guys in green or blue uniforms, they're pretty honest. Be cautious in the area, watch your stuff and stay alert. There's good food, drinks and conversation to be had on bui vien, the main road on the other end of the alley.

The hotel itself is tidy, and quiet with good a/c, soap and toothbrushes in the bathrooms, and clean towels and sheets. The guys who run it are friendly and attentive and seem quite understanding if you have to wake them up to arrive late or leave early.

I'd definitely stay there again.

I enjoyed my stay at the Thuan Duc hotel! It is a small hotel with only a couple of rooms. I had a room on the 4th floor, with a little window. The room was very clean, only had some minor ant issues as is apparantly common in Vietnam (they are really small, crawl only on the ground and do not bother you at all). The shower had warm water. Furthermore there was a TV, a fridge and airco. Of course for this price you get a basic hotel, no luxury, but if you only want to sleep in the room but still want to have a neat room this is your first choice!

The hotel is run by a family who care for their hotel and the well-being of their guests. The lady was really very helpful and gave me great hints on how to get on to Tra Vinh cheaply by public transport. She even called a bus company for me!

Would stay here again without hesitating!
