Detailed Reviews
Spent five nights at the Apricot in mid-Dec. 2019 in two separate stays. Our first night was right off the plane from the States. As bleary eyed travelers, check in was easy and accompanied by a refreshing welcoming beverage. The room (Canvas Lake View) was exactly what we booked and was very nice. As others pointed out, you want to avoid an interior room and we were glad to have paid up a little to get a view. It would have been nice to be a floor or two higher, but it would have cost more. All in all we were happy and got what we paid for. When we checked in the second time and initially put in a different room, we asked for our first room again and being that it was available they moved us - no hassle.
In addition to the room being very nice and more spacious than expected given the vintage of the hotel, the bathroom and shower were also very comfortable with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The room was stocked with two complementary water bottles each day with the cleaning service and with two new water bottles with the turn down service. There was a very convenient market less than a block away where we could have easily and cheaply purchased more, but we didn't need it.
Breakfast was also included. Based on some of the reviews I read here before our trip, but after we had already booked, I was not anticipating much. What a great surprise. The breakfast was great! Great service, coffee of most any variety, and a ton of food options (both western and local).

This hotel ticks so many of the boxes, well situated on a small city lake, excellent staff, impressive reception and well maintained quality rooms.
Breakfast was really good and varied and we found the hotel ideal for walking to almost all our Hanoi destinations - despite the moped and scooter mayhem!
The one thing that let the place down a little was the building work next door, where another hotel is being constructed. The noise from the site came through our bedroom wall as we were on that side, not great when trying to catch a nap following the long flight etc. Surely better to keep the rooms on the site side as unoccupied as possible, or at least advise guests that there might be a problem. It took us by surprise, especially as local rules allow construction to start early...
Anyway that problem will eventually ease, and the Apricot is to be well recommended in general. And do try the water puppet show across the road, that was fun!

Arrived late in the evening on Oct 30, 2022 with a private car pickup at the airport and drove to the hotel where the staff was waiting to check us in. Check-in was quick and effortless which was welcome due to our long travel day.
The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous and lavishly appointed with large crystal chandeliers and comfortable furniture. We had booked a smaller room and were given room #405. It was pretty small and had no view from the window but still had a king bed which was very comfortable. The room was nicely decorated, and the bathroom was done in white marble. The shower was glass on both sides to allow light into the room with a blind you could lower if needed. Once in bed, we immediately fell asleep looking forward to exploring the city the next day.
In the morning, we went down to the second floor for the breakfast buffet which is included in your room price. We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by friendly servers and staff. We were escorted to a nice table and asked if we wanted coffee. Of course we ordered Vietnamese coffees which arrived piping hot a few minutes later. The buffet included a delicious assortment of fresh fruits, salad station, pastries, a hot line of entrees, a dim sum station and Pho station. We sampled a bit of everything and enjoyed it all.
After exploring the immediate area around the hotel that morning, we returned to the hotel to check out the roof top pool and terrace. The pool is covered and large and there is lots of deck space for lounging. It appears that the roof top also doubles as a discotheque/club on weekend nights. There is a large DJ booth and full bar up there as well. The Spa is locatedon this level as well but we didn't take advantage of any of the treaments there. The terrace outside opens up to a great view of the lake and cityscape looking east.
We stayed three nights here before moving on to Ha Long bay. The staff was on point the whole time. Housekeeping was immaculate and friendly! Front desk was always willing to help with anything you may need including changing $$ to Dong! (Be sure your larger US bills are crisp, with no tears or writing on them).
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Ha Noi and would recommend the Apricot Hotel to anyone passing through.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in this beautiful hotel at the start of our 16 day journey through northern Vietnam. The reception area is bright and welcoming and the staff are all very courteous and attentive. Our room was smallish as is expected in a prime location but was stunning with quality furnishings and a lovely large shower in the bathroom with lots of extra amenities provided. The glass window into the bedroom allowed for extra light and gave the room a spacious feel and there was an electric blind to offer privacy when required. The bed was large and very comfortable and the TV had channels for all nationalities. Water was provided in glass bottles which I liked as this is more environmentally friendly than plastics. The breakfast is on a mezzanine overlooking the main atrium of the hotel and the restaurant is stylish and welcoming. There are several food preparation stations offering a fresh and comprehensive range of foods for all tastes and dietary needs. There is a large cocktail bar with a piano on the ground floor, a library with a terrace overlooking the lake on the 7th floor ( I think it was the 7th) and then a large covered pool, cocktail bar and extensive terraces on the roof which we liked going to for an evening cocktail before retiring after a busy day exploring Hanoi. The service is discreet and courteous and the hotel even provided me with a birthday cake on my last evening (the night before my actual birthday but we were taking a train on the evening of my birthday so celebrated the evening before. My only disappointment was that the bar on the terrace closed around 9.30 so was unable to enjoy the last nightcap after touring Hanoi throughout the day - apart from this the hotel was first class and I would definitely stay here and recommend to any of my friends if staying in Hanoi .

The good
Great location, good staff and service.
Breakfast was extensive and good.
Rooms were clean and quiet, beds comfortable and the a/c worked.
Room for improvement
Everything was a bit in need of some updating.
Lights flickered a bit, the pool area was messy, the paint work was tired, the cocktails aren’t worth it (try Polite&co 5 mins walk away).

This hotel is an oasis, a sanctuary in a chaotic old quarter of Hanoi. While affording an ideal location where everything in the area is within a short walk, this hotel provides a total refuge from the noise and crazy traffic outside. Walking in is like traveling through time to a decadent European past complete with grand chandeliers, gobbles of marble and of course a grand piano, played daily. This beautiful French opulence combined with the warmest Vietnamese hospitality makes this place a must visit for any discerned traveler. Rooms are beautifully decorated with combination of true classics and touches of modern. Breakfast is on the second floor, which is a balcony wrapping around the entire 1st floor's lobby with beautiful interior vies, great dish selection and freshest food quality. To complement this excellent hard product, the staff is simply amazing. During my stay, everyone at the front desk managed to remember my name, ask if I needed anything and never hesitated to provide whatever I asked for. Everyone went above and beyond their duties to make sure I remembered this stay with a warm smile. I simply cannot see myself staying anywhere else during my next trip to Hanoi.

Being described as an "oasis of classic opulence" in the bustling Hanoi's old quarter is a tremendous compliment. Why I return to the Apricot Hotel
I spent 4 weeks in Vietnam last spring & I stayed in many 5-star properties in Hanoi, Saigon, Da Nang. Hoi An, & Halong Bay. The Apricot Hotel in Hanoi was the best by far! Apricot’s location is perfect. The rooms overlooking the beautiful Hoan Kiem lake are steps away from old town ensuring peace amidst the hustle & bustle. The understated elegance you feel the minute you walk through the lobby doors is unmatched in Hanoi. Sure, there’s a timeless feeling in every corner of this luxury hotel, but the modern conveniences reflect a commitment to regularly update everything so technology travelers like me are happy. Breakfast on the balcony overlooking the lobby is sumptuous. The chef remembered I like poached eggs every time I came back & the waitresses all knew I took milk with tea. Small details like this make you feel cared for & valued. Although restaurant was always full of people, staff was attentive & service was excellent. No one was neglected. Exotic fruit & fruit juices, many vegetarian options & many local favorites ensured there were always healthy choices. Even the most sophisticated palate could find something pleasing to eat.
I enjoyed high tea at the top 5 places in Hanoi. Afternoon tea at the Apricot was better than all of them. The actual tea was superb. The elegant finger sandwiches & pastries served were scrumptiously memorable. I can’t wait to come back & do it over again. Hanoi has many incredible places to eat, but I ended some long days with a bowl of corn soup in my room. Room service is wonderful at The Apricot. Everything I ate in this hotel was delicious.
The front desk staff helped me make dinner reservations, provided directions to places I wanted to visit & helped me find a tailor. They booked a 3-day cruise for me, changed my money & served as exceptional advisors on many issues including airport taxi’s & local events. Every interaction was handled with kind professionalism. The service at this hotel really differentiates t from other resorts I stayed at.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Apricot Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, from October 20th to October 25th, 2023. It's worth noting that this hotel excels in terms of cleanliness, room comfort, and a serene ambiance. The level of service we experienced was exceptional, with an extremely friendly and helpful staff.
While I was staying, we placed a "do not disturb" sign, and the staff kindly left a bottle of water in front of our door, which was a thoughtful gesture.
Thank you Apricot Hotel , hope to see you again.

The hotel service is excellent. The staff are hospitable and kind. I would also like to commend the chef for the breakfast, it was the best breakfast I had. This hotel was an amazing experience!!The beds were very comfortable and big with soft pillows and blankets. The bathroom as a whole was very well maintained, clean and immaculately beautiful. The breakfast buffet had an amzing and wide arrangement of food ranging from patisserie, fruits, pho and many hot and cold dishes with fresh beverages.the hotel is a great location with many shops nearby. The hotel it self is magnificent and truly delivers five star quality service. The hospitality and welcoming behaviour of the staff is comforting and reassuring to the begin of the trip. Many pretty statues and architectural designs make the hotel flamboyant and fancy. The gym, pool and bar were well maintained and staff were promt to pick up when called. The airconditioning was amazing with great soaps and lots of fresh towels daily. Also wifi service is very good. This hotel is a must visit hotel as it lives up to its well deserved five star name. And i reccomend this hotel highly as i was more then impressed and pleased with the kind and helpful staff and great care and maintenance of customers.

The construction is a Four Seasons hotel going up next door. It's only just started so I'd say it'll be a while yet.
Was open a few weeks ago but still a bit of refurbishing going on and the water was freezing.
Warmest greetings from Apricot Hotel!
All our glass window-wall bathrooms have curtains, which you can easily open and close whenever you want. In case guests do not prefer this kind of window, we suggest to choose Gallery and Masterpiece room with the privated bathroom. If you need any other support, feel free to let us know. Cant wait to welcome you in Apricot Hotel in the nearest future.
Best regards,
Apricot Hotel
The pool of Apricot Hotel, indeed, is not amazing. Located on the rooftop, it is exposed to plain sun - and I did not see any sun unbrellas & Co... I just had a drink there and found the service at the rooftop bar shabby. For the rest, this Hotel (inside services, rooms etc) is SUPER.
From what I recall they did not have rollaway beds.
