I am very aware that this hotel is old. So i am expecting the decors, colors or furnitures to be the same. Since they have the best location, i gave it a shot! I arrived early in the morning at 9am, i requested for an early check in prior to arrival, i wasnt expecting to be granted that early despite knowing the occupancy of most hotels at the moment. Linh who checked me in was so polite and graceful to readily find the available room for me. Wish granted! My room was on the second floor, while on the way to my room i came across some housekeeping staff ready for their morning tasks, all on their smiles and greeted me enthusiastically. Room was spacious, i wanted to be a bit critical on some aspect of the room, after all its an old hotel, the most important thing for me was the comfort of my bed, the spacious bathroom with amenities, clean fresh towels then im ready to explore Hanoi for 2 days. Breakfast was average, not spectacular but understandable that some menu or items could not be available during these times, what is consistent is the can do attitude of everyone working in this hotel. On my last night, i passed by reception to request for a late checkout since my flight will be in the evening, Diep readily granted my request without hesitation, i was not even expecting to be given at 4pm. They are really helpful and accommodating. I checked out smoothly past 4pm and Nam was so gracious to bid farewell inviting me to be back soon...and i think i will...as for me, the heart of hospitality are the people working around, the expensive facilities or luxury amenities are just icing on the cake. I will go for the main flavor🥰 will be back hopefully soon!

Was interested in the hotel after I saw the attractive design right next to the French Opera house. Inexpensive pricing on the web, but I popped in, in person, to check things out.

I was assisted at the front desk by Nam. He presented the hotel’s local promotion, versus the website offer.

This staycation package includes room, steak dinner with wine for two, breakfast and late 3pm checkout. It was quite persuasive compared to the Hilton website offer, all in at $98 usd.

I returned the next day and was kindly checked in by Linh. A friend joined me for the dinner. Long fixed me up with a room with a nice outlook on the Opera.

I had a leisurely next day soaking in the big bathtub and hitting the fitness center both days.

Attached my poor photo of my view :)

Recommended.

Third stay in this hotel, and we still enjoy the service, the quality of the food and service, and the very convenient location for visiting or doing business in Hanoi.
(very nice view on the Opera too).
The extra cost of the Executive rooms (for Lounge access) is worth it.
A small check in incident during previous stay was promptly and very professionally corrected at the next visit; highly appreciated.
With slightly updated room (for the design), that would make a 5* review.

We were booked on a tour that started in Hanoi, Vietnam. When we decided to book the air and knew the lengthy flight time from the East Coast of the USA, we decided to travel two days before. The tour company offered their hotel, but the cost was extremely expensive. With some research, we decided to book the Hilton Hanoi Opera for about 1/3 the cost of the tour operator’s hotel. . It proved to be an excellent hotel in all aspects. We arrived in Hanoi at about 10 PM after more than 28 hours of travel time. We then proceeded to the hotel, and we were checked in a very efficient and friendly matter. For some reason, the reservation was for two people, but they hotel was showing it for one. The front desk person quickly corrected it and allowed us to keep the booked rate. Our room was a king, and it was very spacious. The bed was comfortable. Our room rate included the breakfast buffet, and we were pleased with all the offerings. In terms of location, we were directly in the center of Hanoi, and everything was accessible. The staff was always helpful. The Hilton Opera Hanoi proved to be an excellent choice to start our Southeast Asian adventure.

The Hilton Haboi Opera has a fantastic location, next to the Opera.

The hotel is in need of some upgrade and they could well do without the carpets.

The service is awesome, in line with Hilton serives elsewhere.

We had breakfast every day and the offering was good but the variety stayed the same each day. Some variety would be welcome.

We had dinner twice at Ba Mien Restuarant. The first dinner was international cuisine and I had the Lamd Shank which was an awesome preparation. My wife tried the salmon which was a delight according to her.

The next dinner was on our return from Sapa late in the evening around 9 pm and we had Vietnamese cuise consisting of Hue Noodles and Bun Cha ..... bothe were delicious and reasonably priced.

I would recommend the Hilton Hanoi Opera for people wanting to spend 3 or 4 nights in Hanoi with its location. The Hoan Keim lake is a very short walk away.

A quaint but dated Hilton property, with dreary furnishings and mediocre cuisine. The Hilton gets a lot of business because many travelers want to be close to the old town. In trruth, they would get much more value staying in Hanoi West and taking $5-10 taxi rides (or courtesy shuttles) into the old town.

To be fair, the lobby is rather nice and wll kept. Beyond that, however, things go downhill fast. The choice of carpeting and furniture is atrocious. Rooms need to be gutted and redesigned. Windows are tiny. Given it's location (and mediocre windows), the street can be loud. Pool is too small for swimming and it turns into a soup bowl in summer. The executive lounge has very limited offerings.

They close the pool way too early (6pm, I believe) because the gym attendant goes home at that time. I believe you can unofficially swim past that time but they don't advertise it.

With some thought and investment, this hotel could rival the Metropole. As it is, it's more like a Travelodge. If you really want to stay downtown, the Metropole, Melia or a small boutique hotel are your best options. However, staying downtown is way overrated - when you have top-tier properties like the Intercontinetal Landmark 72 or JW Marriott for the same price as the Hilton, and a cheap taxi ride away.

In sum, there are better options in Hanoi.

We enjoyed our stay. The location is great; the hop on hop off bus is just around the corner and the tours would pick us up at hotel. The lobby has been updated and there is a bar and bakery. Only the Ba Mien restaurant is currently open. The executive lounge is open from 6-8 with free drinks and a small but adequate buffet and comfortable chairs. However the rooms and hallways have a slight musty smell; an air purifier in our room helped with the smell. The beds were comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. If the hotel can update at least the carpet and get rid of the musty smell I’d give it 5 stars.

Reliable Hilton. Spacious rooms, good breakfast, excellent location for seeing the French and Old Quarter. What would make me return is the quiet location on a slightly set-back side street which ensures that you don’t hear all the honking, loud music and traffic noise of lively Hanoi.

Last week we stayed here for a few nights, in overall it was a good stay regarding the food and quality of the service. However, there was this incident that i have to mention.
We arrived on Sunday 27th in the evening, around 8pm, completely exhausted from the long journey. The first impression we had was disappointing due to the impoliteness from the front office employee. She had this rude attitude towards us and kinda like look down on us, i do not understand why. When we asked about the welcome drinks, she said due to Corona they were unable to deliver drinks, which is completely stupid, and that drinks are only served in summer??
Moreover, she did not meet the minimum requirements nor the hospitality nor the professional work ethic that she should have had in this big hotel chain, especially in the front office, where guests supposed to experience the extraordinary first impression, instead she made us feel completely unwelcome.
Overall, we enjoyed the food and the service, with the exception from that front office employee.

Dear flightqueen16, Thank you very much for sending in your review, albeit not great, it is much appreciated. Clearly, we have been inconsistent in our service delivery at front desk, for which I apologize. I will share with the team, and review your points, to ensure we address those areas and achieve the consistency we are looking for. On the other hand, I am pleased to hear that you have enjoyed our food & beverage offerings and the service provided. We took a Grab which is similar to Uber. Less expensive than taxi. Hard to communicate with some drivers. But Grab is straight forward just like Uber. Download the app before you leave home.
