First of all i do not know the hotel rate as we were there for training and everything was arranged and paid for.
CONS
My colleague and I could not get connecting rooms because there arent any. We also could not get adjacent rooms as we were told the hotel is full. The tour guide later told us we can request for a change later if someone checks out. It was hard to get the receptionist to understand us and like-wise. In this case language was a barrier and 80% of the staff are not that fluent in english
If i remember correctly there's 10 or 11 floors serviced by just 1 elevator so to wait for one especially at peak hours can be frustrating.
Do not stay at the highest floor- my colleague was given the room at that floor and it stinks real bad. The whole floor was engulfed by the over powering food aroma coming from the kitchen and yup you heard that right- kitchen's on the highest floor.
If you've been to hanoi, you would know that most shop lots are small. The same goes for the hotel it lacks in width so understandably rooms are on the small side unless you book the vip room (end of corridor). Mine was a room to the left of the corridor with a king size bed with no wardrobe/cupboard. You get 3 hooks to hang whatever you could close to the door. i really run out of places to hang my clothes and in the end had to spread them over chairs and the one seater sofa.

PRO
I stil gave this hotel maximum rating because everything else was excellent.
Despite the size, the room was terrific. Excellent deco. We were told it was newly established not sure end of 2010 or early 2011 and that was reflected with the furniture, flat screen tv, comfortable beds, very comfy pillows and good functioning step-in shower. I was there during the winter and the heater was user friendly to adjust the room temperature easily. The TV had A LOT of channels to choose from. I would wake up early just to have breakfast in bed whilst watching my favorite channels just before going off to seminar. We were given coupons to have meal at their restaurant but one night was tad too lazy to go down- the waitress send it right up our room- service was excellent and the people were friendly. Food was average depends on which dishes and depends on personal preference. after 3 days of similar food, everything taste similar to me though.
I stayed on floor 8 and my friend on floor 5 (she requested her room change by the 2nd night from floor 11), i would always go 3 stairs down to 'fetch' her- the stairs are just by the lift and in my case i treat as morning exercise.
Wireless is free of charge- although it's signal may be intermittent else you can connect thru cable - which you can find in the drawer of the bedside table and works more reliably.
If you've been to the city, you would have noticed cleanliness is an issue in hanoi but in demantoid it feels like home, clean and fresh and comfortable. After room service, they would change the wilted flower in my room to a new flower of the day- such a simple gesture that i found refreshing and make the room even more welcoming. This hotel is a gem and i hope it stays well maintained.

The hotel felt like an oasis of calm in the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. It's located just on the edge of the old town, in the direction that leads to the mausoleum and presidential palace, so you can walk to most of the main sights, plus the best area for restaurants and bars. The front desk staff spoke excellent English and were very smiley and helpful. The rooms were very well-appointed with wonderfully comfortable beds. Three computers in the lobby offered free high-speed internet.

Good hotel if you want a bed at a low price. Rooms are a bit old and Need a little facelift and a bit more cleaning but overall okay stay. Didn’t eat the breakfast , staff is friendly and helped with airport pick up.

The guy who worked at the front desk the morning of August 4th cheated us. He asked if we needed to buy any presents and suggested that we buy banh com, which is a special cake from the North. He also suggested that we should buy 20. He said they charged 9 thousand dong each.
We were in a hurry to pack, so I agreed. Later on, when we got to the bus, some of my tour group friends told me that the place was only a few steps away from the hotel and banh com only cost 5 thousand dong each.
I just can not believe someone who worked in this hotel can be that tricky. But that taught me a lesson " Never to trust people that easily!"

Good location, central to everything, especially the old quarter and the market, within walking distance to lots of landmarks. The room was pretty clean. Staffs were friendly, service-minded, breakfast they say would start at 6.30 but it was a little bit late than that , plus some sausages were finished at 9 am and they couldn't fill it. The gym looks good but we didn't use it though. On the first day we stayed on the third floor but the hot water shower didnt work. We asked for room change and they moved us to the new room right away. Other days we stayed on the second floor and it was a bit loud. Another annoying thing I can say is that theres a smell of smoke all the time and even on our blankets. However I would say it is good for this price. But going back? Maybe not.

We stayed here 2 nights as part of a travel tour package. Its location in the old part of Hanoi is ok but feels a bit dirty. Rooms are ok, with all the usual amenities. Brieakfast is up on te 13th floor. The views are lovely but the breakfast room is small. Get there early as seating is limited. Free wifi but it is somewhat erratic.

My friends and I got pushed here from another hotel after Agoda overbooked them. The hotel is average. Breakfast was average. Service was average. The shower was hot but didn't seem to last long. Room is carpeted, which in my opinion is never good for mid-range hotels in SE Asia.

Hotel is located on the outskirts of the old town and has reasonably large well equipped rooms. The breakfast room is small and has limited choice, the wifi is extremely slow and erratic. The staff are helpful but every time you leave the hotel you have to run the gauntlet of the t shirt outside who won't take no for an answer

Our family of 14 stayed at this hotel during our tour of N.Vietnam and we enjoyed every moment of it. The front desk staff speaks good English and go that extra mile to help and aid our requests. They happily arranged taxis, gave us suggestions for food, shopping, spa services etc. Security and bellmen are excellent, excellent, excellent. Breakfast is a simple buffet spread with friendly staff that greet & serve you with a smile. Rooms are well maintained, decent quality for a 3-star hotel.

The location is excellent because shopping around the old quarters are within walking distances; despite having rooms facing the main road we were not affected by the traffic (rooms were very quiet). Free Wi-Fi on throughout the building.

During our tour in Vietnam we stayed for several days in Demantoid Hotel in the center oif Hanoi. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast was good.
The hotel is situated in the neigbourhood of the old town. So it is easy to reach the important parts of this town. We can really recommend this hotel
