Response from Asia Ecolodge, Chủ sở hữu at Hanoi Emotion Hotel
Responded 30 Dec 2023
Dear Mr. Eart H, Thank you for staying at Hanoi Emotion and for your feedback. We contacted you and apologized for the bad experience you met. We also explained that our main receptionist was sick and the assistant receptionist could say few English words that made you annoyed. Our location is not in the center but it has good point that very quite, and convenient to visit some well-known sightseeings such as: Temple of Literature, Museum of Art, Hochiminh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda... Regarding to your booking, with 3 family room s and 3 double rooms are enough for 15 adults, and children from 6 years old need a surcharge which is popular for every hotels. And our receptionist advised you to book one more room which was cheaper than the surcharge cause you were having best price of genius. Thank you again for your feedback. We'll be sure to address your concerns with our team receptionist. They might be more flexible with the same situation. Kind regards, Hotel Manager Duong Tuan Dung Mr

This hotel is a bit dated but seemed clean enough. The room was comfortable and the bathroom huge but the one problem we had was a loud, steady, electrical humming coming from somewhere near the door or a/c unit. When the porter delivered the TV remote missing from the room, we pointed this out and he went through all the lights etc that we had already tried before giving up and leaving us to it. We would have insisted on being moved if we had stayed for longer than the one day we were here. Incidentally, the hotel is very handy for the Temple of Literature, which is pretty and well worth a visit, but not near to much else, as far as we could see.

Stayed here recently for three nights. Room was clean however a little wear. Staff were nice in the restaurant and food was quite good. Keep in mind if ordering room service the pricing is listed as US dollars, converting this back to vd works out a bit of a rip! Learnt the hard way! Nice enough hotel but is a bit far out from the old quarter which we spent pretty much all of our time. I’d recommend staying closer to the old quarter and also somewhere with a pool as it is very hot!

Hanoi Emotion Hotel is aging roughly and could use a make-over, but my experience there was mostly pleasant -- the breakfast was tasty, the room was quiet by Hanoi standards, the staff were friendly enough -- EXCEPT for one awful problem: the fitness room was in complete disrepair and appeared not to have been cleaned in months. All surfaces, even the benches and weights, were covered by a thick layer of dust. The worst and most shocking part was finding actual feces (appeared to be from a dog) next to one of the weights!! Photos attached -- please don't look if you're squeamish. Sorry, but I won't be staying here again.

My family and I came here with a tour. After a long day of traveling on a rainy and cold day all we wanted to do was take a shower and freshen up to explore the city with our tour group on our one night here. The room was just in fair condition. When we went to use the shower there was not any hot water. We called the front desk to send someone up to help with the water. He was very unfriendly and boarderline condescending telling us that the hot water isn’t working because we aren’t turning on the shower correctly. We tried explaining that we let the water run already and tried everything before we resorted to calling for help. They had us wait for over an hour and made us miss going with our group and ended up having us packed and move to a new room that only had two twin beds for three people and also did not have any hot water. I don’t know how they wanted us to have three people sleep on two twin beds but that accommodation was not going to work either. At this point an hour and a half had been wasted and they said they would send someone to help us move back to our original room. It turns out the entire hotels hot water wasn’t working and they said they would have it solved in the morning. When the man came up he had an attitude and asked why we were moving rooms. It was not any of his business but we ended up telling him about the hot water situation. With an attitude again he says we have hot water 24 hours (implying what we were lying or making excuses) already being upset over the whole situation we tell him ok turn on the shower and try. He goes in and sticks his hand under the shower head and says well it’s kind of warm. So we just reply with well kinda warm and hot are two different things. It was raining all day and we were damp and cold a Luke warm shower wasn’t going to cut it. He replies with well I can shower with this water temperature. We didn’t ask for an opinion and it’s not his job to tell us what’s good for us. He was supposed to help with pur bags to move rooms and he ended up shoving our bags towards us so we moved them down our selves. I’ve never been treated so rudely as a guest somewhere. I do not recommend this place. If it weren’t for the entire tour group staying here we would have packed our bags and left.

We stayed for two nights during our recent visit to Hanoi. Whilst staff were helpful and pleasant, we wouldn’t stay again. Mostly because the location is just a bit too far from the centre of everything. We walked each day, however it would have been more convenient to stay closer to ‘the lake’. Breakfast is fine, although the breakfast room becomes very Smokey in the mornings when they don’t open windows. The bed, like many in Vietnam, was very hard. However our bed at this hotel was the winner for the hardest for our two week stay in the country! Our bathroom was also a strange set up and the shower leaked out into the bedroom.

We stayed at the Hanoi Emotion for 2 non-consecutive nights and found it to be a great value, very clean and comfortable hotel for a family of 3. Be aware that it can be difficult to locate. Even our driver struggled. The staff were friendly and very helpful. My one criticism was the breakfast buffet which was OK but nothing to get excited about.

This is a lovely hotel superbly placed for city sightseeing. Very close to the ancient Confucious university... and not far from the old town. Comfortable rooms in the traditional size, baths, with shower. Excellent all-day dining and friendly staff. Recommended.
