I was lucky to spend nine days at Oakwood while working in Hanoi. It wasn't my first choice, but I'm so glad it's where I wound up! First, the highlights: - truly excellent breakfast - one of the best gyms I've been to in a "hotel" (this is definitely more than a hotel) - breathtaking views from the pool - washer/dryer in room! - lovely balcony - very quiet room - well-appointed bathroom with a bathtub and fancy auto-bidet - nice sound system - fully (and I mean fully!) equipped kitchen - good food, shopping, and nice walking in the neighborhood The not-so-highlights: - pillows were flat and they didn't offer any alternatives - staff were ... a little snobby? Not the bellmen or the breakfast staff, but the front desk. They didn't go out of their way to be helpful, and in some cases were even a little short. Very strange considering the calibre of the property and the high standards the other staff achieved - foreigners walking around without masks, even though signage clearly stated that masks were to be worn inside. Not sure why it wasn't being enforced. Felt like I was in America with all the maskless white people milling about - construction noise. This of course cannot be avoided in Vietnam in 2020, but what I found quite strange was that apparently the apartment that I booked was in a certain class and therefore I had to be placed below a certain floor. This took some figuring out, after I complained about the noise and asked to be put on a higher floor. It would have been helpful to know this at the outset, so I could have avoided having to move rooms. - the jacuzzi was the same temperature as the pool (which is to say, cool). Also, the sauna was never on, and I ventured up to the gym early one morning to turn it on, but by the time I was done working out it still wasn't hot All things considered, this is a lovely place for the business traveler in Hanoi. The location is great for after work and weekend vibes, but it is a bit of a commute since traffic can be a pain. That said, I'll definitely be back. I will say that if my company wasn't paying for it I'd have a hard time personally justifying the expense, but I got the sense that the majority of residents and guests were enjoying Oakwood on someone else's dime.…
I am currently staying at Oakwood Residence Hanoi with many of my colleagues and we are very happy with the accomodation here. We experienced an emergency situation where one of my colleagues had fallen and needed to go to the hospital. We asked for help from the front desk, and I am really glad we did so. We had all the help we could need from the very supportive crew on duty that very early morning. They were calm, professional, and helped with arranging the ambulance and the translation between us and the medics. The hotel even went so far as to send one of their employees with us in the ambulance and to stay with us until the return to the hotel. We felt very safe with all the support. Thank you very much.
Oakwood Residence, Hanoi I live and work in Hanoi for 6 month, and I’m stationed at Oakwood Residence Hanoi. I’m from Denmark, far far from home and without my children and family etc. Asia is so different from what I’m used to. There’s a whole new environment around me in so many levels and it’s fantastic and refreshing. BUT still it’s impossible not to miss my life in Denmark. I cross both Christmas and New Years Eve while I’m in Vietnam and ‘homesick’ can’t be avoided. But here it comes: what really blows my mind is how Oakwood’s leadership and staff all over this beautiful hotel manage to surround their quests with this rare and unique kind of sweet comfort and warm interest. I do not doubt for a second that Oakwood’s team is sincere in all they do for us. You FEEL their smiles, you FEEL their authenticity in everything here - from the feng shui decor, the healthy and tasty gourmet dishes on their menu in the beautiful restaurant, the little Christmas sock on every floor Christmas morning and to the employees with hearts of gold and with a presence that makes one almost forget ‘back home’. Oakwood is in every detail and it’s just feels like I have two arms holding me tight in the most loving way everyday. Love is not only something you feel, it’s also the thing you do! And this amazing hotel got it! It’s real talent and passion in so many ways. Oakwood Residence Hanoi - you touch my heart and when I return to my life in Denmark in April a large part of me will stay with you guys.…
This seems to be a nice property, but their staff seems untrained, and at times disrespectful. While untrained staff is nothing unheard of in this country, I would’ve expected more in a supposedly upscale property like this.
Amazing place to stay for cleanliness, comfort and facilities. Staff were absolutely amazing particularly Klaudia at reception was very helpful. Nothing was an issue and always willing to help. Food was great, location out of the main hub (old quarter) about 20 minutes or so. Nothing much to do around the hotel area but it was nice to stay out of the hussle and bustle. Would I stay there again... Hell yes!!!
