It was our first visit to Hanoi and our first stay at this hotel. Our trip in September took place before the city is hit by the typhoon.
Our stay at the hotel was in 2 parts. The first part was over the weekend when we arrived before our HL Bay cruise. Then we came back again after we docked from the return cruise.
When we booked and make the arrangement with the hotel, we were not informed of the road closure in front of the hotel over weekends for their night markets. As a result, we had to alight some distance from the hotel with our luggage. On arrival, it was raining. As a result, we asked the driver to help us contact the hotel reception to inform about our arrival and that we have no umbrella. Imagine being told by the taxi driver that we will be drop off some distance away in the rain!
Fortunately, the hotel was swift in sending their staff with an umbrella to assist us with the luggage and help shelter us with the walk to the hotel to check in.
When the Duty Manager (already off duty) was informed of this incident by their staff, she immediately left her kids at home and came all the way back to the hotel to personally apologise for this over sight about the weekend road closure. In fact, we did not expect her to take any immediate action but such is the sincerity and seriousness in her disposition about guest relations that we did not hold it against them.
That was the only initial hiccup.
This hotel has such an exceptional view about providing the best experience for their guests that I would like to highlight MOST of our pleasant experiences there.
Firstly, the rooms are big, clean and most importantly, safe even though it is right in the heart of the happening town. At the restaurant and rooftop bar, there is a beautiful view of the lake both in the day and night (see photos).
The daily breakfast and the dinner served at the restaurant is delicious and the ala carte menu has a wide variety of choices. We ordered a few dishes for dinner and we were blown away by the taste and presentation of the food. Viet Anh gave us good recommendations of what to order and when the food arrived, he helped to serve while explaining how each dish is a significant local dish, demonstrating the way the locals will eat it. His service enhanced and completed the whole wonderful dining experience. On our last night of stay, we went up to the rooftop to be offered an extensive list of alcohol and beverages and again, Viet Anh was serving there and he continued to maintain and uphold a high service quality.
Another staff worth complimenting is their Guest Relations, Jennie. Jennie speaks very good English and when she knew that it was my first time in Hanoi, she took out a map and asked me about my areas of interest. After hearing, she gave so many good recommendations on where and how to go to these places. Some of them were recommendations to nearby good egg coffee, shopping places, delicious Bahn Mi and checking on train schedules of the famous Hanoi train street etc. As we couldn’t speak Vietnamese, there were times we had to call her to help us make booking appointments at restaurants, salons etc and once, even to speak to the Grab driver who tried to extort us with a steep cab fare. Jennie has gone way above and beyond her call of duty extending friendly and warm hospitality which touched us very much. Even my son who is 9yo is full of praise for this hotel and their lovely staff.
There was one night my careless husband left our shopping (mooncakes) in one of the shops overnight. They learnt about the incident and helped us to call the shop but because the staff at the shop did not pick up the call, the hotel arranged for new mooncakes and gifted us knowing that we had “lost” ours at the store in the city. There were many things they didn’t have to go the extra mile to do for their guests but they did. Such is the kind of 6-star service from a hotel which we have never encountered before. I will definitely remember them for a very long time with fondness and appreciation.

You always walk into a fragrant and cool lobby with very welcoming staff that greet you each time. The hotel is located right across from the lake and on weekends, the streets are closed off to cars and there are outdoor markets and activities to enjoy and watch. Excellent hotel located right by Hoan Kiem Lake. At the old quarter area. For us the location was great because it’s still at the old quarter but not in the small alleys thats a nightmare to get in and out by taxi. The road in front of the hotel is closed every weekend made a huge difference. All the staffs are lovely and helpful. The whole place was sparkling clean. The staffs from the bell boy, reception, cleaning service, terraco bar, the restaurant were all friendly and professional. We had a great 4 nights stay here and sad to leave.
Room: The executive double with external window room is not very wide but very well appointed with ample power sockets on both side of bed, they have USB power socket near the desk and standard amenities and everything you expect in a hotel room like safety deposit, fridge, full size mirror etc. the toiletries are good quality, shampoo doesn’t make my hair frizzy
Breakfast: They have set menu you could order from (omelette, egg dishes, beef/chicken pho, egg Benedict, some vegetarian dishes, Vietnamese coffee, etc) and breakfast buffet with wide enough selection for everyone. Fresh juices and fresh yogurt, cold cuts, warm dishes, salads fruit and desserts. We didn’t get bored during our 4 nights stay.
Terraco Sky bar: The sky bar has 30% off happy hour from 17:00-19:00. Reasonable pricing for sky bar. Great cocktails and mocktails.

We had an exceptional stay; everyone was incredibly helpful accommodating, and warm. Special mention to Mr Brian Luu and the hotel’s manager. All our requests were promptly granted, especially when our senior citizen parents requested a non-slip mat—they made it happen immediately. Since our flight was at dawn, they generously offered us a 50% discount on the rooms and provided packed breakfasts to ensure we wouldn't go hungry while waiting for boarding. We will certainly be returning to this hotel for future stays.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is well decorated and clean which gave me a comfortable stay in there. What I impressed most are the services provided. We were served with welcome drinks and some vietnam sweets upon arrival. While we were briefed on the facilities and breakfast time by a staff, our luggage were sent to the room which was already in a good temperature when we got into the room. Fruits were prepared and placed on a table with a welcome card. We were also given vouchers for free cocktails on the roof top bar with a nice scenery of the lake. Further, the staff were very friendly and helpful on suggesting places to go and assisting in calling grabs to get around the area. Special thanks to Jennie who has been taking care of us during our stay. The only feedback is it was a bit noisy as we were on the first floor and people were celebrating national teacher’s day on the street. I do enjoyed my stay there and recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a visit to Hanoi.

The location is certainly one of the best in Hanoi, a stone's throw from Hoan Kiem Lake, right opposite the entrance to the Ngoc Son temple, and at the gates of the old town, allowing direct access to it all by staying in a quieter section than the center of the old town.
The decoration of the hotel is very original, soothing, and very classy.
The rooms are quite spacious, comfortable and well equipped.
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. There is apparently very effective internal communication which makes each member, from the doorman to the management, give the impression of knowing you, and makes you feel like a VIP in a Palace. It's really very nice. We also received lots of little touches throughout our two stays (interspersed with an excursion to Halong) which we greatly appreciated.
The breakfast buffet is not only of high quality, very varied and complete, but the dishes are presented in a very elaborate way, in a chic setting. Hands down the best breakfast experience I have ever had.
The rooftop is also incredible, with a magnificent view of the lake and the city and just the right background music to make you feel good.
Another good point is that, as we were leaving on a night flight and checkout is at 12 p.m., the hotel provided us with showers and a place to change before departure. It is very pleasant.
To summarize, this hotel pushes the quality standards very high and gives a very positive image of the quality of accommodation that can be found in Vietnam.

I booked La Sinfonia for one night during my short visit to Hanoi and it was one of the best decisions of my visit. The hotel is chic and location is just perfect, right next to the Hoan Kiem lake and old quarter. With its grand doors and amazing scents at the reception, the hotel gives a vert welcoming feeling when you check in. Check in was a breeze and I got the room within 10 mins. They provide welcome drinks and cold towels, which was great considering the hot and humid weather.
The room, albeit small, like many other hotels around Hoan Kiem lake, is beautiful and very comfortable. It has a nice black and white decor. The hotel has tried to accommodate all possible amenities, including a bath tub, within the confined space which is an achievement.
The room had welcome fruits, water and a desk to work. All sockets were multipin which is an amazing sight for any traveler. The room does overlook the lake, but there is a big tree right in front of it, so the view is hindered. But I am happy that the tree is given priority over the view, so I am not complaining. The toilet and bath spaces are segregated, so they can be used at the same time if there are two people.
The restaurant is located on a higher floor. The breakfast spread was good and they also have an a la carte menu in case you need something extra. I had lunch at the restaurant and the food was delicious.
Above the restaurant is a bar which gives you good views of the lake. Its a great place to spend the evening, though I couldn't during this trip.
Lastly, each member of the hotel staff is very service oriented. Right from the door man to the restaurant staff, every person tries to make your stay better. The door man even bargained for me with a taxi driver when I wanted to visit a place. The best part, everyone speaks good English.
I can't end this review without a special shoutout to Brian. He is polite, friendly and extremely enigmatic. All through my stay he did his best to make it comfortable and ensured that there were no problems. His willingness to go that extra mile to make customers happy, is such a great attitude, specifically in the hospitality industry. I saw him personally attend to each and every guest at the hotel. He is a great asset to the property and I do recommend him for an appreciation or award.
I enjoyed my stay at La Sinfonia del Rey Hotel and Spa. They do have other hotels with similar names, so it might be a bit confusing, but I believe the service levels would be similar. I will surely book a longer stay at this place, the next time I am in Hanoi.

The hotel is very centrally located in the old town, with all the pros and cons. A significant advantage is actually the location, from here you can reach a lot of important very cheap and quick. a disadvantage is of course the with under deafening noise that spills over from the street and the squares into the hotel rooms. In this respect, rooms that do not have their window facing the street are recommended. Therefore, booking in good time is recommended.
Breakfast is very reasonable, service is friendly. Generally, the service staff is also a reception and extremely friendly in the bar area.

The Sinfonia is ideally suited as a base for a visit to Hanoi due to its location in the city and on the inner-city lake with a temple worth seeing on an island and in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The rooms are large enough, well air-conditioned and comfortable. In some rooms, the exotic bathtub with shower has to be climbed over a stool (and also floods parts of the bathroom - don't be alarmed, it all runs off). If you can't or don't want to climb, take a room with a normal bathtub/shower.
Breakfast was plentiful and the service was pleasant, friendly and quick.
Particularly worth mentioning is the beautiful bar on the roof, which is perfect for rounding off a strenuous day of sightseeing. There is practically everything you would expect from a bar and at typical local prices. Hotel guests also receive a 15% discount voucher for a visit.
