We loved the unique location being on the island with water shuttle every 20 min to main land, rooms and service were excellent. Swimming pool area was lovely. But… charging 100k VD for bikes per hour was over the top. Dinner buffet was over 800k VD per person as well as any other restaurant on site were over the top.. we ended up ordering room service as it was better option for our family. We were amongst group of other guests leaving hotel every evening for search of restaurant of the island ..but Halong bay town is ghost town with barely any restaurants in the evening … we stayed 2 nights and did 1 day halong bay cruise booked via independent company which was excellent overall. Overall we would recommend this place to other guests as it’s beautiful but just be prepared what’s on offer meal wise especially when travelling with children.

I stayed at Vinpearl for two days during my annual offiste. Its a beautiful resort with amazing views of the Halong Bay.
The rooms are spacious with large balconies where you can sit and enjoy the scenic beauty of Halong Bay.
The resort is a 5 minute ferry ride from the mainland and you will get a ferry every 30 minutes. We felt that the frequency for the ferry should be increased specially if the resort is operating at high occupancies.
While the overall stay was quite comfortable, one drawback was that vegetarian food options were quite limited. The lunch and dinner buffet hardly had any dishes which were vegetarian. Moreover the staff were unable to guide if a prticular dish is vegetarian or non vegetarian. It maybe useful to have a few English speaking staff members in the dining area.

Overall I will highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Halong Bay for its beatiful location and cozy rooms.

Great central location.. everybody welcoming, efficient, top class staff, Plenty of choice for food.. the rooms were spacious and I liked the decor, our room lead out to a balcony overlooking the stunning bay.. The boat service to the hotel was spot on always on time, we used the laundry service it was great. Recommend this hotel highly for people to stay in.. The pool spotless next to the small man made beach !! Get yourself booked in !

Vinpearl is a name that is known through the vietnamese community as the "standard". To my suprise, it missed every single mark that would classified as a luxury hotel. I traveled here with a group of 8 people, for a family wedding at Vinpearl.

Checking in was a nightmare. There are 5 staff at the check in "stall" and each would take so long to process everything. My family arrived at 2 PM and would not finish checking in till 3 PM. Once finish checking in, we have to wait for a ferry that would take us to the actual hotel. The ferry comes every 20 min.

The hotel outer appearance is very good, the groundskeeper does a great job at maintaining the outter appearance. The inside is clean, although the bathroom need a little bit of fixing, there are broken knobs on the flusher although functional (barely)

I checked into room 452, immediately I can tell that the insulation of the room is not good, I can hear people talking and slamming door outside. I asked to be move to a different room. The staff was accomodating in this respect. I moved to room 552, the noise cut down a bit, but that was because I am in a corner room, far from the entrance. The bathroom once again need some maintenance in term of plumbing, it looks as if it could get clogged anytime. The bed has gone bad, there is a slump in the middle of the bed that would ruin any sleep I had at night.

In my humble opinion, if a hotel fails to provide a good sleeping atmosphere and a quiet and secluded atmosphere for it guest, it has failed the mark of being a luxury hotel, period.

In the morning, the Buffet is plentiful of choices, however the food is subpar. The pho broth was awful, almost like over cook, it taste very salty. A westerner friend whom I met at the pool told me the fruit tasted weird, almost similar to spoil. My uncle whose is a vietnamese local told me the Banh Cuon was awful. On top of all that, I gotten sick from eating there!

The pool was one of the better part of the hotel, however due to the limited staff they have, it takes almost 30 min to order a drink. During peak time at the pool, they have 1 server at the bar to attend to almost 10 guest, poor management in all respect, when I talked to the server he said he asked for support yet, 30 min waiting I do not see anyone came to help him make drinks.

The staff here looks very tired, almost overwork, seems like vinpearl is cutting cost to keep their budget down, and that shows. Everyone look defeated and just want to get through the day. I dont blame them, so many problems with the hotel, this can only be coming from poor upper management.

I would not reccomend this hotel, after talking to several local and taxi drivers, all gave the basic theme. People complain about the hotel, only those who have not done their research properly or brought into the idea of the brand "vinpearl". The majority that comes to the hotel are new customer, returning customer are very few and far in between.

Vinpearl management and leadership need to take some class on how to run hotels, this is borderline swindling Vietnamese people.

We stayed here as part of our Ha Long Bay visit, the resort has the makings of something different - but for us failed to deliver. Access to the resort is by a short boat ride operated by the hotel, after checking in onshore - novelty in its own way. Once at the resort it felt more corporate than touristy and not much personal touches. That said our room was comfortable and clean, with plenty of space. Buffet lunch was reasonable and adequate for that type of dining. However buffet dinner was somewhat of a let down in terms of choice, quality and cost. Most of the hot dishes were barely hot and not presented particularly well, after being picked over by the diners. In my opinion the dishes should have been monitored and refreshed regularly by the kitchen. The lobby flower display appeared to be a big attraction, and created a lot of noise from large groups of people. This talking/shouting could be heard in the bedroom corridors quite easily as soft furnishings are absent to absorb the sounds. Overall an okay stay, but slightly disappointing - maybe we expected too much.

The resort does in fact have a nice vibe. The room we stayed at was a king suite ocean view.
The room was decently clean and enjoyable except for the bed. The bed was a disaster. Every time I turned the bed made a loud noise like something was breaking. They also only gave us 4 bottles of water a day for our family.
The pools do look nice the sides of the pool seemed to have build up of moldy black stuffs. The pool personnel were also not in the mood to care or offered us towels.
The biggest problem I had with this resort was the staffs. More than half of them just seemed to hate being there. I know it’s hard to be in the customers service industry and hard to greet and smile at people all day long. But at a resort of this level, that is something expected. The staffs at the soup/pho/noodle/banh cuon station at the buffet were even throwing me shades as I asked for a bowl of noodle. He then took his time making the bowl of pho while talking to the other attendant. I was the only one there at that station. The Bun Bo Hue turned out to be disastrous, it tasted nothing like bun bo hue.
This leads me to our next problem, the food. The buffet is just bad. They did not know how to make 2 basic Vietnamese staples, Banh cuon and Ca Phe Sua. The Banh Cuon was at the pho station and let me remind you again, the staffs there just did not want to be there some don’t bother asking for food there. The Banh Cuon was just bad, it was sour as well, it was like it went bad. The Vietnamese coffee was just not drinkable. If you can’t even make those then why even bother having a buffet at this resort.
We had dinner at Akoya restaurant on the property and that was delicious. They did in fact elevated Vietnamese food. Do me a favor and eat here instead of the buffet where everyone just hates you.

Right before arriving at this resort, we did just stay at The Imperial Hotel in Vung Tau and Intercontinental Da Nang. Therefore my reviews may have a little bias.

I’m not sure if I’m too sensitive and the northern Vietnamese are just like that normally but attitudes of the staffs at that soup station would not be tolerated at any other resorts of this level. The buffet is just bad so save your stomach and eat at their onsite restaurants if you can’t go to the city.

We recently stayed at the Vinpearl and had a generally positive experience, with a few areas that could use some attention.

Good Stuff:
• Views: The views from the hotel were absolutely stunning. Every moment spent enjoying the scenery was a highlight of our stay.
• Pool and Staff: The pool area was fantastic, and the staff were attentive and friendly. They made the experience feel luxurious and relaxing.
• Luxury Feeling: The hotel has a luxurious ambiance throughout, making for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
• Affordable Drinks: It was a nice surprise to find that the beers at the hotel were reasonably priced for a luxury resort, making it easy to unwind.

Food & Beverage:
While the breakfast buffet was quite good, the pho soup was a letdown, feeling like a fast-food version of a national dish with little attention to detail.

We also dined at the Pavillion restaurant, where the experience didn’t meet expectations for a high-end establishment. Issues included delayed service (chips arrived after the main course), a glass left on the table throughout the meal, rushed dessert inquiries, and uncollected cutlery, which reflected a lack of attention to detail.

At the pool, we ordered lunch—fresh spring rolls and a club sandwich. While the spring rolls were fine, the sandwich was cold and soggy, and the fries were lukewarm. After a 30-minute wait, we were disappointed to find there were no cutlery or napkins provided.

All in all, the food and beverage service seemed to have more in common with Fawlty Towers than a luxury hotel experience!

Would I Stay Again?
Yes, we would stay here again, but with some changes. I’d likely eat out every night and bring more snacks in from Circle K (Vietnam’s version of 7-Eleven).

On a positive note, I appreciated receiving a handwritten note from the General Manager after voicing concerns about the dinner service. It was a thoughtful gesture that demonstrated care and attention.

The place is absolutely stunning. From checking in at the dock and getting on the boat to the island you can tell your in for a magical experience. The resort is stunning. The pool, beaches and views are perfect. Staff are all really friendly and the place is immaculate. The food is a bit pricey but of high quality. We had to have the buffet every night as one resteraunt was shut one night and the other closed for a private event a different night. Even though it's called a buffet there is plenty of selection of all varieties and countries, although I recommend getting there early as if you get there later you can tell the food has been stood for a while. The one thing that really frustrated and bemused us was that there was no free drinking water anywhere! No water dispensers, nothing. You can't drink the tap water and we were given 2 small bottles a day as part of the house keeping but this just isn't enough. Your forced to pay 50000 VD for a small bottle which is extortionate. This was one of many hotels we visited on our trip and this was the only one where free drinking water was not available. And when your on your own island soaking up the rays, water and the ability to access it is essential in my opinion.

Pavi restaurant is very beautiful, chill space with a very romantic band. Delicious food, enthusiastic and professional staff. Giang and Dung take care of the family wholeheartedly. The two receptionists wear very bright black suits and dresses to welcome guests. We hope to come back in the near future. A restaurant with a strange style located on Ha Long Bay.

I am disappointed with the service in Vinpearl Halong though the design of the hotel is awesome.

I will not recommend this hotel based on my experience
1. Check-in : the receptionist kept reminding about cost of the tidbits in the minibar (who doesnt know this more so the price list would be place near the minibar?)
2. Menu in the restaurant for dinner - when we intend to order menu from in-room dining menu, the waitress told us that menu can only be eaten in the room.
3. Check out : The receptionist said please wait for 10 minutes we need to check your room

Awesome choice, and yes the water taxis are frequent and the taxi will know exactly where to drop you off. There is a large building for you to wait in before the water taxi arrives and they will check you in there.
