Not sure what some people really expect on a junk, but all our party of 10 thought this was a fantastic excursion. The bedroom wildly exceeded our expectations (and we did have all our luggage with us), had its own little balcony (as did all rooms) and was very comfortable, with its own separate toilet and shower. The activities were great, with kayaking, a beach visit, cave exploring, a cooking demonstration/fun competition, early morning tai chi on the top deck and two drinks for the price of one happy hour. A great deal to fit in on an afternoon/evening/morning.

All the food was excellent and all the crew to a man very pleasant and helpful.

This trip is highly recommended.

From the greeting we received as we boarded our boat to our goodbyes our crew was friendly, informative and so much fun! We were on the Au Co 2, a beautiful boat with 32 cabins, all with balconies. The meals were delicious, a buffet breakfast which included both Western and Vietnamese selections. Lunch and dinner were set and included multi courses, any allergies or preferences were carefully observed. Tea, coffee, water were included with meals, wine, beer and cocktails were extra but very reasonable. Ha Long Bay is a World Heritage site and has unparalleled scenery. I’d love to go back.

Stunning boat that was like film set. We were lucky enough to have the front balcony room beautifully adorned with flowers and towel swans for our honeymoon.
The food was lovely, the staff friendly and all surrounded by the incredible limestone formations.
Sitting on the top deck while the sun went down was a lifetime memory.
Up early to do Tai Chi which was relaxing until you had to massage a fellow passenger (who wasn't my wife!)
Sunrise (although a bit misty) was fabulous before the leisurely cruise back to the dock whilst admiring as many of the 1,969 limestone islands possible.
Only thing we missed out on was going to a floating village but it was that it just been greedy.
It is Vietnam's jewel

We stayed on board as part of a tour of Vietnam and Cambodia.
The standard of rooms we experienced was far higher than that on board this junk which was very small and very, very basic. Had we been allowed to take enough luggage for our 2 night stay rather than our full 23 day allowance, the room might have been more bearable.
Without exception, all the crew were very helpful and friendly. As all 18 of our group felt exactly the same about the standard of accommodation, we gritted our teeth for the short experience. Drinks on board were very expensive.
Whilst parts of the area of Ha Long Bay were amazing, some of the parts we visited were spoilt by lots of floating rubbish (mainly plastics). We certainly didn't expect to see quite so many other boats (it was like a busy 'bus' station in parts). Far too commercialised for our liking.

Right from the start this cruise was excellent. From booking in, to getting on board. And then it only got better.
The Accommodation, food and staff were excellent. And the location was just wow,
We were lucky to have our guide, Loving Joy who made the trips enjoyable with her humour and knowledge. She was very attentive and nothing was to small for her to deal with. Her and her staff made my 60th birthday very special.
Another member of staff who deserves an individual mention was Nguyen Tia. The young girl who did the cooking and Ti Chi lesson. This is a member of staff that staff you should hold on to and nuture. Very impressive. To sum up the whole experience, one word, UNFORGETTABLE

A terrific experience with a fabulous room at the front of the boat with a private sundeck (only two on board). Cabins were small but adequate; beautiful deck area and terrific scenery on Halong Bay. The bay is quite calm and has majestic scenery. The overnight cruise included a wonderful dinner preceded by a regional food demonstration. Also included were two excursions; we opted for the morning one to beautiful caves--lots of steps but worth it. Breakfast was adequate small buffet with choice of eggs.

The 2-day boat trip was simply fantastic. The staff, the food and the service were simply great. It was my birthday on the first day and the shipping company gave me an upgrade to a suite. Mega great. Then there was a surprise for me in the evening. The crew presented me with a cake with fireworks, flowers and a little song. I was really touched! The ambience on the ship was gigantic, the suite was great, separate terrace, shower, beds, safe, sofa - everything was there. The program for the 2 days was great, you simply can't expect more. The group on board of around 38 people was also manageable. The cooking class in the evening and the excursions to the caves were really worthwhile. Not to mention the sunrise, although you have to get up early. We can only say book this tour.

This was the best part of our stay in Hanoi. The cruise was fantastic, the staff efficient, very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and the trip to see the cave was awesome. The bedroom was so comfortable and I would highly recommend

Was very cold and overcast but still was worth the trip. The bathrooms are small wet rooms so bit awkward, toilet paper tends to get wet. Meals were lovely and plenty of variety. Staff very helpful. Rooms were clean but according to my friends some of the rooms had motor noise.

Room Tip: The bay gets very crowded with tour boats don't expect a pristine view. Wi-Fi also patchy.

The boarding experience was great, the room was lovely as was the entire boat. The food was really nice and we met some great other travellers.
The weather was overcast so it dulled the experience a little (photos), but did not affect the trip
For the amount of money paid, the disembarkment was fast, frantic and definitely impacted our enjoyment. The staff had to get us up, ona quick trip to a cave, fed and off the boat by 10.30am. The lovely cruise we had to the bay was replaced with a speedboat to take us back to the dock (was over an hour, not a 2 minute thing)

In summary we enjoyed it, just be warned if not on a 2 nighter you will be bundled off so they can get ready for the next lot of 1 nighters on the second part of the 2 night cruise. We were not aware of this and would have changed plans had we known
