Pro: Staff service there was fantastic. While communicating in English with them was often a major challenge, it did not diminish the quality of their service. Ask for Thuy. She was amazing. The hotel is located in a tourist area with lots of restaurants nearby to dine at, especially if you are into seafood. The hotel was clean, and we were complimentarily upgraded to a junior suite which was nice. If you can book it, I recommend you do so. It is quite spacious and quieter. The hotel is close to beach bolstering several beach clubs. However, music from the clubs every night was quite burdensome.

Con. I have never stayed in a hotel that was as chaotic as what I experienced at this hotel. It was full of locals, mainly families and their children. Parents left their kids run wild at the lobby and the lobby bar areas. The adults literally constantly shouted on top of their lungs to each other. The swimming pool was always full of locals, so we hardly got a chance to use it. Thereafter, they hanged their swimming cloths on their rooms' balcony rails which made the hotel look like a city slump apartment. Frankly, I often felt like I was at chucky cheese or in the middle of a circus. The hotel should do a better job of controlling its guests' (locals) rowdiness. I think the way the locals behaved is consistent with the level of civility of Vietnamese in general

Perhaps because it is one of the very few international brand hotels in Ha long Bay? the staffs speak quite good English and actually have a sense of what it means to work in hospitality. The rooms, although seems to be somewhat aged, are well maintained in a modern way, not like your typical local motels.
The dinner and breakfast buffet was also quite nice and the seafood seemed to be quite fresh.

We throughly enjoyed our beautiful rooms, I made some requests regarding wanting a higher room , conjoing rooms and my friends birthday which they arranged everything for me.

The conceig was so helpful, always providing us with recommendations and very knowledgeable. She had braces and the sweetest face.

We drank cocktails, ate pizza and enjoyed other drinks and snacks which were all delicious and not overly priced.

All in all the facilities where clean, well decorated and comfortable.

It is an older hotel but very well maintained.

Definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Don't bother booking Novotel because you really have to fight hard to communicate or make them understand an issue. Issue no. 1) The day we checked in for a holiday with my baby, on 23rd October, there was a bell man who gave horrible arrogant vibes. He saw me get down from the car while I was carrying my baby after a beach visit and made me walk outside saying I had a bit of sand not on my feet but my leg, it was barely a bit of sand, I mean I had cleaned my feet after beach visit and I myself am particular about cleanliness. They just love to insult and embarrass you, specially brown skinned people. Despite seeing a mom carrying a baby, the bell man created unnecessary negativity spoiling my holiday mood. Hotel however apologised for his behaviour and replaced bell man to a sweeter one. Day of check out, 25th, they had taken 12 million security deposit from me, swiped my debit card and my hotel bill was around 8 million. My bank statement showed 12 million deducted on 23rd on check in date.. Instead of paying us difference amount by subtracting hotel charge of 8 million from 12 million security deposit amount during check out, they swiped and deducted 8 million all over again and said 12 million security deposit would reach my account within hours. They just had to pay the difference amount to make it easy for the guest. Even after checking out, I have to wait for 12 million to get reflected in my bank account. I have had horrible experiences in Novotel Phu Quoc as well, they are just not worth it. Bath tub in Ha Long Bay phu quoc had a leaking hand shower which was almost dysfunctional. Music Sound from beach club till mid night in beach view rooms is irritating. Only positive was the awesome chef who really has the spirit to make the guests feel welcome and respected and loved. He is a warm person and extremely professional and does his job well. Well, Novotel, I gave you a second chance but you failed miserably this time too. There are better hotel options around and with better facilities and service. I would say Novotel is not worth it.

My stay at Novotel Halong Bay hotel was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the room was clean and had good water pressure. The hotel’s location was convenient, being close to Sun World, Sun Marina, and various restaurants.

However, there were several areas that could be improved. The room itself appeared old, with tired bed setup and bed linen. Upon arrival, there was only one receptionist available, and the computer at the priority counter for Accor members was not functioning. The lack of lighting in the lobby, restaurant, and lobby lounge gave the hotel a closed-off atmosphere, potentially due to cost-saving measures. I also noticed staff chatting amongst themselves in the lobby lounge, rather than attending to guests. As an Accor gold member, I did not receive the standard welcome letter or amenities that I have come to expect from other Accor hotels.

In conclusion, the management of Novotel Halong Bay hotel should focus on bringing the hotel up to Accor standards and enhancing the overall guest experience. With some updates and improvements, this hotel has the potential to be a top choice for visitors to Halong Bay.

We arrived at Novotel Ha Long bay and the staff were friendly and efficient checking us in. As we are Accor plus members they gave us an upgrade and a welcome fruit basket. When we got to the room it was dated but clean and the view overlooked the foreshore. What we should have taken note of is why there were ear plugs beside the bed. Ever night from dark till around 1-2am there is an open air night club across the road pumping out extremely load music and spotlights directed at hotel so we had to wedge a towel in the balcony door to stop it rattling and muffle some of the noise. Even then it was still so loud that the building (because of its curved shape is a receiver) is constantly reverberating.

Spoke to the staff the next morning and they said there was nothing they could do apart from move us to the mountain view side of the building if we wished.

The breakfast was included in our package and was typical of Novotel buffet breakfasts but bakery items were less than average, hot options were OK but limited.

Had lunch and also coffee at hotel and it was quite good.

Following our 2nd night of a 4 night stay, we decided to forfeit any money paid and leave and went to another Accor property in Hanoi instead.

Room was stuffy & no aircon, have to call service 3 times even at 10pm to fix it. I suspect they turn off the or switch to low air mode as the hotel occupancy is super low. Bad enccounter at Reception during money exchange with the front desk staff. There is little ink mark on a note & the staff refuse to exchange. After 10 mins arguement, finally get the exchange done.
Its a birthday celebration trip, but was spoiled by the room condition & staff service.

Tourism is slowly making its comeback in this area of Ha Long Bay. When my “limousine” bus dropped me off, on the road, across the street from my hotel, I thought, “This was a big mistake!” I was wrong. The staff at this hotel was simply wonderful. The front desk staff was great! Housekeeping was friendly and fantastic! With nothing much else open, around the hotel (with an exception of Papa’s BBQ), most of my meals were at the hotel. That dining room staff is 100 percent Five Stars. I asked about dessert, after my first dinner there. With so few hotel guests, there wasn’t any. The next night, a young female on staff was slow in bringing me my bill. When she did, she had a slice of brownie cake for me. The following day, while I was seated at the pool, the same woman appeared with a hot cup or tea and cookies. On my final night there, the dining crew presented me with a special dessert treat. You cannot get that level of service from just anywhere. I hope tourism quickly returns to this area and especially to this outstanding hotel!

Located at the heart of the town, it is 10-15 mins away from most locations including the market, the beach and the port. Being well located, it was easy to get cabs/travel through the town.
The rooms and nice and spacious, and the staff is courteous with prompt service.

Very nice hotel with lovely staff. The food was fine. We liked the pool and bar area. The staff helped us rent a motorbike during our stay. Be aware that the beach club across the street plays very loud dance music until all hours of the night, even during the week.

Dear fedex02, Thank you for your question. I suggest to get a King size bed room and get one more extra bed in a bigger room (Executive room) for your most comfort. I am afraid that twin beds are small and not comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids. Thank you and best regards, Novotel Ha Long Bay
