Checked-out early from Hotel Alcatraz and walked straight into Basaya. This place has good rates, they're good for a reason. It's dated, a bit rough round the edges. The hotel lacks sparkle, so if you're after polished marble floors and crystal chandeliers then triple your budget and go elsewhere. Of all the places I've stayed this has been my favourite....

I was not expecting much for the price, but I got a location right by the sea, alhough not on the beach (it's on a road, 1 minute walk from the beach) a mile or two from Walking street, but still in a very lively area.. I also got a superb setting, with greenery and a fab pool. The room...

We stayed at the Thai Villas which are absolutely fantastic. All around a small private pool, very quiet and away from the main hotel area. Cant comment on the main hotel but if you are going here definitely upgrade to the Villas you will not be disappointed.

Basaya is a budget hotel, that is in need renovating. We upgraded to the wooden chalets and were disappointed by how small they were. A good point was this area had a jacuzzi but you had to wait for a member of staff to turn it on. The swimming pool is an excellent size and plenty of sunbeds, if ģetting...

The hotel is near the beach and in 2 km from the Walking Street. You can hire motorbykes just in front of the hotel for 10-15$ per day. WiFi is very very poor. They have many access points, but the speed is very low. Pool is clean and good. Some staff members isn't so polite. No safe in the room....

It's very old hotel and the rooms are not clean. Definitely they need to renovate the rooms. I stayed in a superior room, it was a very large room with comfortable bed. Unfortunately I saw many cockroahes in bathroom and in the room when it's night. It was not easy to sleep there after that. I used insect powder etc....

Stayed for 3 nights. Staff very friendly, location excellent, shops, resturants and beach road close by. Did not try the breakfast so can't comment on that. The Hotel is getting a bit old and needs renovation, but for this price its good. Nice swimming pool, deck furniture need an overhaul. Wifi is for lobby only but I couldn't connect. Free...
