Shambala was the least expensive place we stayed at for the whole trip, about $18 US per night. We stayed in Bungalow 11 which was right next to the beach. There was no air conditioning but we had hot water and a ceiling fan. We got a few good night's sleep, the bed wasn't luxurious but it wasn't like concrete...

Set at Big Buddha Beach (a quieter part of koh Samui) with a lovely sandy beach. Good quality spacious bungalows with private bathroom and balcony. Set on the beach. We were there in Dec and the beach was virtually empty. Run by a friendly american couple. Food is excellent. Plenty of hammocks and pillows to relax on. Walking distance to...

The rooms are basic, romantic terrace seaview, if you are lucky, or bar noise , if you are unlucky. The rooms reflect the price. Good service from lovely Em and the staff, allways a smile and a joke. It looks like the owners don't like to have contact with their guests, might be good for us?? The food out of...

We stayed here initially for one night after flying in from Chiangmai. We decided to stay and do our Padi Open Water at the on site five centre - 100 degrees east. Accomodation was included with the course and we had a beach front bungalow. It was a pleasant room with hot water shower. We gad a few visiting lizards...

There is only one place to stay in Koh Samui and it’s a little place called Shambala. Not just because, quite frankly, it’s the only affordable place on the island, but because it’s LOVELY. Owned by the sweetest Franag couple and the Kitchen by a soulful Thai family. They will point you in the direction of mopeds, scuba, elephant treks,...

I was travelling with a group of 10 friends and my partner, we took up the majority of the bungalows. I really enjoyed my stay. We are all teachers in Thailand and it was the perfect 4 days get away. Its cheap and cheerful. The rooms were basic which is what you are paying in the price. 500 baht for...

We stayed here in August and although it was cheap, we were very disappointed. We weren't expecting much - just a basic bungalow next to the beach with no frills was what we were after. Well we got that, but the least we expected was that it would be clean. I can't understand some of the rave reviews because even...

Me and my girlfriend stayed ay Shambala for four nights as part of our Thailand travels in February 2009, with the thought of staying at the beach bungalow would be one of the highlights on our trip. When we were dropped off by our transport, for some reason I spotted that the Shambala flags had faded considerably by the sun...

The food at shambala has ruined Thai food for me. Honestly nearly every time I have Thai food now it is terrible compared to the fantastic food at Shambala. *The beach is alright *Bungalows are basic (and yeah not cleaned that often) *We had a really noisy overhead fan which kept me awake Overall though the staff were so great...
