Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I first stayed in this hostel a few years ago when I studied abroad and it’s so cute I had to come back! My fiancée and I were in Chiang Mai for a few days and decided to stay here- it’s quiet, clean, and adorable. There’s a cool bar next door too that had live music while we there! Great price, great stay :)

Stayed for two nights solo. Had a private room which was good. Plenty washrooms for the building - also very clean place. Friendly staff. Location is a little inconvenient if you want to be close to where the liveliness is. Also the hostel itself has no bar or restaurant so it’s better for people not interested in meeting others. Overall good stay though.

The hostel is clean and the staff are friendly. We were happy with a standard double room, there are plenty of shower and toiler facilities so even when its busy you dont have to wait. The only let down I would say is that it lacked atmosphere and there was a lack of opportunity in meeting other travellers.

Very good for Thai Craft beer but expensive. I didn't stay here. Impressive 4 Thai craft beer taps I paid 260 Baht a for a small glass. There were about 35 Thai craft beers in bottles. No Chang or Leo to be seen :-) There is free wifi. There was live music on the Saturday night I was there.

Stayed here because spicy was full, but very clean hostel, free water which was a bonus, and the staff are super friendly. Slightly out of the way, but it's nice to have a walk around to find the old town. Would recommend to other travellers, however not many people to meet but if your a group it's a good hostel to stay at. Wifi super fast too.

We stayed here during the lantern festival. Hostel in a good location close to north gate. Very clean rooms with good air con and showers. Staff very helpful. Would stay here again. Common area small probably not the best option for a solo traveller. Kitchen facilities available in common area

Safe and Sound is a small but comfortable family-run hostel within the budgets of all travellers and located in a good part of town if you will be doing things around the mountain-side of town. The place is kept clean and maintained well by the friendly staff who even when absent leave you with means to contact them by. I stayed here for about a month and really enjoyed my stay, what i liked most was that S&S is not in a tourist location and doesn't attract the usual party-backpackers found in other areas of the city, therefore I could get a good sleep every night. The hostel has a small kitchenette, plenty of toilets and showers, comfortable and clean beds, secure entry and lockers, the option of fans or air-con and an AMAZING rooftop! The views off here on a clear morning are stunning as its so close to the mountain! Though you can also get a good view of it from the dorm windows too. S&S is also close to a laundry place, a 7/11, and various restaurants including the fantastic Imm Aim round the corner. One downside to this place is there isn't a good place for bicycles to be kept as there isn't a lot of room out the front. I would definitely stay here again and wish Mote and his family the best for the future :)

Stayed here a few nights while in CM. The owner is very sweet, they have a kitchen (with free Thai tea!) and a mini fridge and microwave for your food. There is a tv in the lobby for DVDs (they have a huge collection). It is clean, has nice AC (250 baht) and is close to Old Town.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay here at Safe and Sound Hostel. What was supposed to be a few days turned into a few weeks here! The dorms and bathrooms are kept very clean. It is only about a 5-10min walk to the northwest corner of the old city and about 5-10 mins to the Nimmanhaeman area. The staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful! I definitely recommend this place to everyone!
