Elegantly appointed like a fine art gallery, while intermingling with northern Lanna styling, this is a distictively fresh boutique hotel. The 53 superior rooms and suites, some with private balcony bathtubs, have nicely apointed modern amenities. Located in the hear of Chiang Mai, you are steps away from famed temples (Wat Phra Singh) and shopping areas (Sunday Night Walking Street).

I stayed 4 nights at the 99 The Gallery hotel. My room was on the 2nd floor. It was a good standard, 4 poster bed, working cold air con & ceiling fan. Shower room was functional but old style. I enjoyed my time at the hotel although due to the location of my room over the dining area it was noisy from 5am, reception telephone ringing and the setting up for breakfast. Whilst I’d never advocate people should have to eat in silence, at 6.30am some guests having breakfast did not seem too bothered that others may still be trying to sleep. I appreciate this is more the set up of the hotel should be better. Hotel location was about 10-15 min to Thae Pae gate and was near to shops and restaurants.

Location, location, and finally, location. This place has it good. The 99 Gallery hotel is situated within a stone's throw from the famous Wat Phra Singh temple. Once you turn the corner, it is one long straight road to Tha Pae Gate. Beside it is it's sibling, the slightly more glamourous looking 99 Heritage. You can literally see the lobby from the moment you come within view of the hotel on the street. Once inside, you feel as if you have stepped into one of those stately old mansions that the wealthy used to live back in the 1920s and 30s. Indeed, placed throughout the hotel were spruced up old cupboards, fans, radios etc. The type that my grandfather had when I was younger. Our room was on the first floor, and would you believe it, the hotel pool is just in front. Unfortunately, our packed schedule meant we didn't have the chance to use it. The room itself was clean and ok, a little smaller than the previous hotel we stayed in. The beds were nice enough to lie on. Instead of a keycard, the hotel will issue an actual key to you, so, you have to make sure you lock your room manually before leaving for the day. The bathroom is small and compact, with the standing shower and toilet next to each other, separated of course, by the shower curtain. If there is one thing that I found a little peeved about was how stingy they were with the toiletries. We had only one small bar of soap to share amongst us. I do understand the hotel uses a dispenser for shampoo and liquid bath gel, but surely one bar of soap is a little parsimonious. Our booking did not come with breakfast, so we had ours at the cafe directly opposite of the hotel. In fact, you need not worry about breakfast, lunch or dinner because cafes, restaurants and even roadside kiosks are available in the immediate vicinity. Based on the room and location alone, I'd give this a 4/5

Firstly I want to say the staff were lovely, location was good if you want to stay in the old quarter (I don’t recommend if you want to spend your days or evenings elsewhere, like the night markets and food stalls). There is a hostel across the road that do a nice breakfast and coffee and a few other nice cafes around the area. I didn’t try the hotel breakfast/food. But the negative being that honestly this has been the loudest hotel I have ever been in. We were situated on the second floor, closest to the hotel lobby and breakfast area. The rooms are NOT soundproof and every morning I was woken at early hours by the reception phone ringing, or breakfast set up or people having breakfast. Upon the first appearance the room appears very old and run down, there is no storage and barely anywhere to place things or hang clothes. I can’t vouch for other rooms as we did have a basic double, but even for a basic room this isn’t acceptable. Also do bear in mind this hotel is split into two - the gallery which is the basic hotel, although is a lovely, open building, and the Heritage… sometimes taxi drivers get confused but it doesn’t matter as they are both connected and just a short walk around the corner. I suggest using the laundry facilities around the corner where you do it yourself, it is a bit cheaper.

Chose this hotel coz the very budget friendly. So, I didnt expect so much. As usual, since we wanted to explore the area, we just need a clean room to stay. But it was beyond our expectation. From the lobby, although it is small, it is already very nice. It is well decorated and very clean. Then our room is also much more than a clean room. The size is just nice, aircon is cool, hot shower worked well and we have balcony...!!! The bed is firm like brand new...!!! All was surprising us.. the service is very good too... I love it...!!

Lovely hotel, really close to Wat Phra Singh (so close I could see the top from my room) and just an amazing stay with them. Loved the cleanliness of the room, and the daily cleaning. They topped up the fridge with water bottles each day and in general a really nice hotel. Didn’t eat in there but the food options looked good, I just wanted to try out the local food places a bit more

Positives: Relatively quiet stay, including at night. End unit ac unit worked very well, though first day trying to cool down the room from likely unused stay for a few days took a while. Overall, ac unit worked great. Firm pillows, soft bed. Front desk very helpful and courtesy. Breakfasts were ok, lots of fruit available during meals included if interested. Towels were not thin. Good central location for easy walks for food, massages, temple, 7-11. Good cleaning staff. Negatives: No blackout curtains. End unit wifi signal was crap. Every day, no matter time of day connection was spotty. Washer/dryer costs are higher than washer/unit location that is less than 1 min walk away. And only 1 dryer for 2 working washers, one non-working. Never used dipping pool, not big enough to swim, hence dipping. Towels were always outside and available.

This hotel I located very centrally in the “square” .. Walking distance to most places. The staff at check in are very pleasant and they personally take you to your room to show around. The room has a good old fashioned key to lock … Rooms were tired and def in need for an uplift. This hotel has a small pool although it was out of order during my stay :( .. Breakfast is available at an additional cost of 120 baht .. There is a 7/11 literally around the corner and also a self service laundrette which is 5 mins away. I’d highly recommend this hotel as your base in CM

Quirky hotel with a good old fashioned key to lock your room. Location was quiet and a good 20 minute walk into the busy areas. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was not a buffet, you order from a small menu at the downstairs cafe and charge to your room. Rooms were small/good size, perfect for a good night sleep.

Most accommodating staff ever! While our stay was imperfect due to things way beyond staff or management control (hot weather, our booking a room which did not meet our needs) they bent over backwards to accommodate us and succeeded! Be sure to book the Deluxe Room and you will be thrilled with this hotel. Spotless, great local atmosphere, fantastic convenient location and you cannot ask for better staff! Super nice common room for digital nomads, too.

Unique boutique hotel in Old Town Chiang Mai. Only negative we felt was restaurant on main floor was sub par in quality & price. No towels provided for the pool, limited pool side loungers. Make sure to check out other restaurants around the block. We’ll situated.
