We stayed here for two nights while in Chiang Mai. The staff/owner is very lovely and kind. We were given an option for three bedrooms and able to pick the one we wanted. We selected one with a beautiful balcony overlooking a temple. The design of the hotel is very minimalistic and modern, making a change from the tacky hotels there are out there. Beds were so comfortable (even the extra cot bed we had) and the linen smelt so clean and fresh. It is a new hotel so still working out some of the kinks, but I would highly recommend this place. A home away from home.

My girlfriend and recently stayed here for one night as part of a whirlwind your of thailand. Simply Rooms was perfect. Location was ideal to explore and rooms possibly the cleanest we stayed in but the biggest us point was the owner. Thai's are very friendly as a whole but this lady went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. We can't thank her enough. Complimentary tea and toast also a bonus!

Stay here :-)

The location is great, it takes only 10-15 minutes to airport. It is in old town and close to night market. It is enjoyable walking to many temples nearby and shopping at night market. Just walking 10 minutes to Chiang Mai Gate Market while I am hungry. There are many food kiosks along the road and massage shop nearby. Staff are nice, friendly and helpful. Room is small (15 sq.m.), but it suites me (solo). It is really clean and all towels are fresh smell. I like that the hostel provides free 4 bottles of water daily and mosquito bat in room. I really enjoy my stay and will return if I have a chance.

This cute little place, a pretty well done knock-off of the Ace Hotel in Manhattan, looked as if it would suit me perfectly. The funky little open air lobby puts you right in the middle of the action at the southeast corner of the old city. So far so good.

The day before I was to check in, I walked in and booked a room. The price they quoted me for my room was significantly more than the hotels.com price and so I offered them a choice - 1. I'll book online or 2. You give me the lower price and I'll pay you cash. I don't know what works out better for them but would prefer that they get the money in lieu of the venture capital guys.

The young woman at the front desk called the boss and we had a deal - they chose the cash and met my price. They said that I needed to book at least three nights to get this price. Wanting to lock in the weekend, I booked a whole week.

Then the fun started. They asked me for 50% down as a deposit for my check-in the following day. I hadn't come across this one yet in Thailand but fine. If I didn't love it, I could move on after three or four days and is still be whole.

However, when I arrived to check in the next day, they asked that I pay the remainder of my bill for the entire seven days, up front and in cash AND that I give them a $30 room key deposit. What? Really?!

I questioned the 100% up front payment, plus deposit, being quite sure to keep things very pleasant and smiley so as to be sure that everyone would "save face" - a crucial concept here in Thailand.

That didn't seem to matter. The woman at the desk kept calling the "boss lady" until she herself showed up. There were other westerners in the lobby needing to be dealt with and so I suppose it was worth her time to come down and straighten things out.

Sadly this took on more the flavor of a meeting with the warden than with the gracious maiden of a boutique hotel. She had a purse full of cash and seemed more interested in shuffling envelopes full of money than in pleasing anyone... or even trusting that her patrons would actually pay their bills upon checkout.

Honestly, I felt as if I was being treated like a stoned teenager in a cheap hostel, not a guest in a upper mid-range hotel.

Finally, we agreed to part ways. I apologized for being so sensitive as to care how I'm being handled (not in so many words) as part of my hotel experience (it's not just about the room) and she agreed to give me my deposit back.

Maybe she's been burned one too many times. Maybe they've got enough business based on non-repeat customers that it doesn't matter how they treat people or how unreasonable their terms are. However after traveling for one month in India and one month in Thailand, in both touristy and off the beaten path locations, this was easily one of my worst experiences yet. I'd advise against it.

The hotel is very pleasant - staff, location, design, cleaninness, nice and comfortable furniture, with somewhat european feel. Rooms are good sized and have everything one might need.
I would stay again despite the water in the shower was lukewarm and street noise in the main street facing rooms - the street is pretty busy!

This is described as a "Vintage" Hotel and this no doubt refers to the quirky collection of paraphernalia decorating the lobby and halls. Rooms are spacious, everything is so well presented and clean and staff are terrific. Free WiFi of course and basic breakfast included all for Bht900 a double. We were close to everything, evening markets just up the road with great selection of food. Cannot really fault this as value for money and then some.

Stayed for one night. Basic room and service staff were very accommodating. Fruit and coffee available throughout the day in lobby. Good location. Clean room and hot shower. Floors in bathroom could use some bleach to brighten it up but otherwise good. Spacious. Key to front door so you can get back in after 10 pm. Would stay here again.

I definitely enjoyed the stay in 'The Simply Room'. It felt like I had an own little apartement in the old city cause the staff was really familiar and friendly. They tried everything to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
The location is great! Right outside you can start walking and see the amazing temples. My Room was in the 3hird floor so I had no problems with the traffic noise. I liked my room cause it was simple but really pretty and clean. There is also the possibility to have breakfast with fresh fruits, coffee, tea, toast and cornflakes. I would come again!

There r two ladies running this guest house. They r friendly & prepare breakfast for us. Final day, we needed to get the flight early morning on 6:00 am. We woke them up on 4:30am and they drove us to the airport with a reasonable prize. Highly recommended!

If u'd like to save ur budget, just walk to the main entrance in front of airport & take a mini red bus to town. I ever paid only Baht 80. But u have many belongings, better take a taxi Baht 100-150.
