My sister and I stayed at Galare Guest House for four nights. The guesthouse was perfectly adequate for what we had paid. The rooms were tidy, however the decor was quite dated and we generally found the room quite dark. We also found the rooms quite noisy at night, with weird banging noises coming from somewhere nearby - possibly the...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed in Galare for 4 nights in October. The guesthouse was great value and we were given a big room with decent bathroom which had a powerful shower which made a nice change. We had aircon a fridge and kettle so could not fault the rooms. The food was brilliant and so so cheap! The location...

Because my partner and I visited in the off season, we got an excellent rate for our stay here. We booked for 3 nights but extended to stay a full week. The room is simple and the bathroom is a bit dated, but the room was very clean with a reliable air conditioner. The hot pot for tea/instant coffee and...

Only stayed one night because there was a pack of neighborhood dogs barking all night long. Plus the room was lighted by those harsh blue-white fluorescent bulbs; you felt as if you were going to be interrogated. And I felt that as walk-ins we were overcharged (990 baht for two), compared to prices if pre-booked. The restaurant area was nice...

Right smack in the middle of where you want to stay in Chang Mai is this awesome guest house. It is hidden back against the river down an alley so it is really quiet and very quaint. Sort of reminded me of staying at a rustic lodge. The hotel is clean, comfortable, well laid out, and very inexpensive. Everything was...

Stayed 3 nights in september with my thai partner. Im used to some rough and tumble guesthouses, but tend mainly to find decent mid range accomodation. And Galare is hard to beat in this regard. The small restaurant/garden bar right on the river is a really pleasant spot, and the food is good value for both cost and quality. The...

Awesome place, good location, great staff. Tom, the guy by the reception will sort you out with things to do and he'll make sure you don't get ripped off, even by the companies that pay him more to promote their stuff. Great pricing as well. God I wish I was back there right now

This is a very professionally run mid-price guest house. Lovely garden and river view. We thought the curry served at the restaurant was excellent. Owner very pleasant and helpful. Easy walk to Night Market and 10 minute walk to the old city. 3 nights stay. One night there was noise from a club across the river. Otherwise very quiet. We...

Stayed at Galare in July-Aug (4 weeks). The English speaking staff was very helpful and friendly. The guest house is in a good location on the Ping river and close to the night bazaar and town square (gate). The restaurant had reasonably priced good food, the on-site person for tours was very helpful. There is a person located outside the...
