Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Extremely old and worn, once so proud 4-star hotel next to a, now closed and condemned, shopping center. Bad cleaning, hard matresses, noisy rooms, mosquitoes, cockroaches and a simpel breakfast with the bare necessities. Best if you have own transport as the hotel is located a bit behind Huey Kaew Road. Staff is friendly. Price is cheap, hence I review it as average, but I don't think I will return here. You get what you pay for, so being on a budget it will do just fine.

With this Hotel you get what you pay for. Some of the reviews on this website have been unkind but quite honestly this is not an expensive hotel. The staff go out of their way to help you even though their English is not good. Our rooms were clean serviced and absolutely huge. The bathroom has a shower and a bath tub, the beds are huge and comfortable, and there is a huge dining area overlooking a view of the city which is in your room. Yes this hotel has seen its heyday and has a little bit of wear and tear, but it is very clean and spectacular to look at. Staff were very good and all amenities were very clean and tidy. I would stay here again.

This is a quirky hotel. The elevators, while futuristic looking, transport you like a Time Machine to 1980s rooms. It was built in the 80s. Despite the outdated decor, our room was incredibly spacious and had amazing views. We had booked this hotel last minute and on the way there started to worry after reading the bad reviews en route. Thankfully, it was NOT as bad as the reviews suggested. It's not luxurious but we enjoyed our time here as the staff were helpful, the room was kept clean, the bar staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was reasonable. Nearby is the best Mexican restaurant you'll find in Thailand called Salsa Kitchen. Worst aspect was only 2 out of 3 lifts were functioning and the ones that did work were frustratingly slow, so if you need to be somewhere in a hurry, factor in a 10 minute wait for the elevator! Sure, they need to probably have more regular maintenance checks at this place, but it should meet most of your needs.

This place is a trip. As our cab driver passed the overgrown landscaping, abandoned guard hut, and graffitied walls my husband was pulling out his phone to start to look for somewhere different for us to stay. First impressions were bad, bad, bad. Second impressions were not much better. The place is in some serious need of maintenance. I’ll bet in its heyday it was really something. Now, it’s more than a little sad. We decided to give the place a chance but were early for our checkin so we wandered around through an abandoned mall, empty conference rooms, giant empty restaurants and endless hallways leading to vacant rooms. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and did not smell funky at all (no mildew or stale smoke smells!) the bed was pretty comfortable- firm but not rock hard. There was a bathroom AND a shower, with plenty of hot water. To say the hotel is dated is being charitable, but the staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet included decent coffee. There was live music (Thai Elvis!) in the lobby bar, and a huge pool with 8 (I counted) lounge chairs. We could walk (going out the opposite way from where we drove in) to several good restaurants and a lovely massage place. I don’t remember the name but it started with. “V.” On our last night we went to Nimman Street and a great night market. It was really fun and the food options were terrific and not so exotic. All in all it ended up being a great experience!

PROS......The evening checking was efficient a d hassle free. The lady at receptionist was polite, helpful and cheerful. Housekeeping do a wonderful job cleaning and vacuuming the rooms to a hight standard. CONS. Daytime receptionists were on multiple times very unhelpful and it felt like it was an effort every time I spoke with them regarding certain things. The gym is privately owned and in all the times I have visited thailand,I found the bloke at the gym to be the rudest person I've dealt with in the 10 years I've been frequenting this lovely old hotel. I would advise you to stay away from the gymnasium. Checked out a day early and sought accommodation elsewhere. And the internet drops out a lot.

It's an old big hotel that has been partially restored and rebuilt. It's very big and it still has some old details from the past. The lifts are not enough for all the rooms and customers that it can handle and sometimes you have to wait a long time to take one. Breakfast is not the best in the world but it's cheap. You must take a tuk-tuk everywhere because it's far from the city center but it's worth staying here because it's cheap and because the rooms are so retro and vintage that you're going to love it. The AC and light controls may have come from the Star Trek series in the 1960s.

YES YES YES! THis must be the best value accomodation I’m Chiang Mai. Standard rooms are 42m2 with a big bedroom and sofa and sitting area overlooking the mountains. The pool is huge and the gym is large and well equipped. It’s an historic hotel which has seen better days but the staff are helpful and it has that old world feel. Great location tucked away from the main roads but close enough to everything. The duty manager and her staff were wonderful.

First of, the hotel is old, really old, and in dire need of maintenance. But that's not going to happen, and the owners are probably just keeping the hotel alive on bear minimum until they bulldoze the entire area. The hotel is enourmous. 14 floors or something with 420 rooms. I can only image what the poeple who came here 30 years ago most have felt as they entered the lobby. The swimming pool outside the hotel is on the size of Pluto, and that was the best thing with the entire hotel, second to the price. We paid 400 baht per night, which is a bargain despite the hotel being old. The room and bed we got was clean. The matress was very hard, but that is totally normal in Thailand, especially in hotels that are older. I like hard beds, but that is subjective. Urban Exploring Next to the hotel was a really big shopping mall, but it didnt survive the pandemic. The mall is in the same building complex as the hotel, but for reason they have not sealed it off, and you can just walk straight into it while walking around in totally emply hallways with cracks and broken walls all over. Even the dining area where you have a half circle with gigantic windows making really unhealhy cracking sounds as you walk close to it. Hmm.. The pool is in seventh floor on top of the roof to the shopping mall. In 6th floor you have a fitness center. From this floor you also get access to the deserted shopping mall. Main Entrence As you leave the hotel from the main entrence, you are on the "backside" of the hotel and the deserted mall. The area is poorly lit up, and if you want to get out to the mainroad you have to go throught a deserted area with no lights, no shops and walls filled with graffiti. Not for you if you are scared of the dark. Anyways. I had a great time in the hotel, and I spent many hours in the pool, and the food I ordered by the pool tasted really good.

Great service, hotel is dilapidated, clinging on for dear life. Desperate need of renovations . Tons of ants in room, I was on 11th floor. The beds were as hard as the floor . They have breakfast you can pay for, although I found it strange they didn’t have cheese for the eggs at the omelette station. Also, in the breakfast area, there was an astronomical amount of ants and flies and they were going in the food so I had to learn the hard way when I had breakfast the first time after my first night there. I would like to stress the staff are very friendly and do their best to help. They are nice people, and they are attentive…management or the owners don’t seem to understand how desperate this place is for some serious renovations. I hope that they will get them underway in the near future. This place definitely would have been a four-star hotel back in the late 80s early 90s but it’s really beat up and depleted. I wish them well and I hope that, we will see some improvements in the near future. I would be willing to stay here again if it was renovated otherwise, there are many other places in Chiangmai for the same price that you can get a better room at. .

You must like forgotten grand hotels to feel good here. I like the atmosphere from a glories past. Yes the bed sheets are broken but the staff does miracles to keep this enormous space in shape and clean. Now that the neighboring shopping mall is closed the atmosphere is even more morbid. One thing I dislike is the inconvenience of the great pool and gym far to late in the day open and early closed and another that they don’t have bum guns in the toilet.
