This hotel is located a bit outside of Chiang Mai city center. This resort is attached to Ping river.
It’s really nice that we can enjoy peaceful near the city center.
There is a big park and swimming pool along the river.

Out penthouse room is on the third floor. The room is very big with separate area of living room and balcony. We can enjoy with nature view from the room.
The bathroom is very big with a big bathtub.

There is the restaurant on the 1st floor of the hotel where served all day dining. The breakfast is provided as all you can eat a-la-carte menu, all of them are delicious.
Dinner is also great, they served both Thai and Western food.

There is a parking lot in front of the hotel but it's not sufficient for all room.

Nice comfy large bed ..tea coffee in room .
Overlooking gardens and river .
Breakfast good with choices of hot food to order.Staff super helpful and friendly.lovely gardens.
Restaurant food good but lacked atmosphere as no one was dining there.
Negatives
Hotel doesnt have kerb appeal and sits on a noisy busy road at peak times. Some parts of hotel need updating and general maintenance .We were in a pool room and the decking around the poolside facing our room was loose and unsafe.
Pool was kept very clean but water was really cold.
Hotel is a good 15 mins from Chiang Mai ... use grab taxi as by far cheapest option 89 baht each way .
We did love taking a tuc tuc home but as hotel is not central it's hard to get a good price ..best we could do was 250 baht ...(started at 400!)

This hotel is a hidden gem, the staff are excellent, friendly and very helpful. The food is superb and very fast service. The hotel is very clean and tidy. Our room was very clean and spacious too. The staff appreciate a please and a thank you. We stayed 10 nights here and definitely would come back and will recommend to family and friends. Lovely pool for a refreshing dip in the hot weather, lovely gardens and outdoor seated areas. Easily give this place 5* It is about a 5 to 10min Grab ride into town. 7 min walk to nearest 7/11 store. 5 mins walk to two lovely coffee shops.
Only one down aspect was that no bar and can't get a food/drink after 9pm which isn't that big of a deal.

We were 2 couples staying at the Zensala for 9 days,
The Zensala was a perfect place for us to chill out and relax undisturbed by the pool while our husbands most days played golf at nearby golf courses.
On the days when we dragged our self away from the pool the hotel transport dropped us of at Tha pae Gate about 15 mins away bus leaves at 11am daily.
Any small wants or needs that we had were very quickly resolved by the staff.
The all you can eat breakfast were made to order which was a nice idea a change from a buffet style which you find in a lot of places now and a menu to suit most tastes.
The hotel is situated on a small side road but the I can’t say the traffic bothered me during my stay.
There was a few mosquito going about so might be wise to take some deet with you if you plan to sit outside in the evenings by the pool area.
We were outside most night as it was such a lovely romantic setting by the river and after putting on the deet we had very few bites. keeping in mind that these annoying creatures are everywhere in North Thailand there is no escaping them.
This was such a relaxing place to stay a situated on the Ping river would definitely recommended it and would stay here again
I would like to thank all the staff at the Zensala for making this a most memorable and enjoyable stay

Waking up watching the sun rise was my biggest treat as where I flew in from (Hong Kong) had been continuously raining all month. Size of the hotel is perfect if you are looking for more quiet, private place to stay. Staff are very attentive to your needs and my special compliment to Kung for her care and kindness she has given me during my stay. I will be back for sure with my partner next time.

The room is soooo gooood, i love the jacuzzi in my bathroom and also have another one in my balcony. I can choose to stay naked in my jacuzzi bathtub or chill out in the balcony Jacuzzi pool with the fantastic view of Mae Ping river also with a great taste of appetizer and a cold beer or some nice cocktails. The location too good to be true, it just less than 10 minutes from the heart of Chiang Mai. This is a place that you must stay and you will love it!

I dont think this is 4 star resort. Eventhough the staffs are nice and friendly. The rooms that we stayed were not that good. The bed was not comfy. The airconditioner made really lound noise, but the the staff fixed it. The curtain in the bathroom is broke, so i have to call the staff again for fixing.
The price is quite too expensive if we compare with the overall image and convinience things in the hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights with my partner in March 2016.

Pros :
Beautiful view of the Ping River from floor to ceiling windows in our top floor room. In busy Chiang Mai something of a respite from the city.
Nice room, everything worked, comfy bed, good shower, spacious, storage space for clothes, quiet. Tea and coffee in the room and bottled water.
Fast and reliable free wi-fi.
Friendly service, reception very helpful with local attractions, organising taxis and anything else needed. Snacks and drinks available all day in the restaurant.
Good breakfast with eggs cooked to order included in our room rate.
Nice swimming pool, large lawn with sunbeds.

Cons :
The only thing I would have preferred is to be closer to the old city. Not walking distance to restaurants, markets or other places of interest to visitors. But closer to town may have meant less peace and quiet.
Transport organised through the hotel was noticably more expensive than self organised transport and being away from town there is some dependence on the hotel to arrange taxis to get into town.

A nice modern, clean hotel that is as advertised. If I go to Chiang Mai again, I'd choose somewhere closer to town at a cheaper rate. Zensala is reasonable value for the price, but I think you can find better value in Chiang Mai at this price point. We paid about $100 US per night.

The pool is not very deep about chest high. It was a very long pool though, good for swimming. The elephant sanctuary is easy to book. Just make sure to book the government funded sanctuary. The government sanctuary is a lot more humane, and treat their animals.

The resort is very small and pretty quiet. There is some road noise but it isn't that bad at all. The food at the restaurant is good but a little expensive compared to the city. There isn't a happy hour but there are 711's all over so stock up and fill your fridge with drinks. That is the cheaper way to go. The resort gives a free breakfast which is a very nice bonus. The resort is a bit off the beaten path which is kinda nice to get away from the hustle and bustle, but inconvenient at times as well. The tuk tuk you can get for 160-200 baht, which is around 6 US dollars.
