137 Pillars House is one of the most charming hotels we have stayed in. The bedrooms are beautifully presented and the beds are very comfortable. It is a very stylish hotel that exudes a sense of calmness against the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai. But most of all it is the wonderful team led by Anne Arrowsmith that sets this hotel apart and makes it a very personal experience. Every member of the team makes you feel so very welcome and are they are all so kind and thoughtful. It is very difficult to single out team members when they have all been so wonderful but I think a special mention has to go to the Guest Services team led by Toto. To say they have been patient with us is an understatement. Ray diligently handled all of our restaurant, spa and sightseeing bookings before we arrived. Once we found out more about Chiang Mai I think we must have changed most of our original bookings and Toto and Big handled this with extreme patience. We also had daily sightseeing trips via the hotel’s limousine and Orr kindly drove us to various places and acted as our unofficial guide. I think these trips were the highlight of our holiday ( don’t miss going to the Aksara tea plantation, MaeSa elephant park - with their 2 month old baby elephant, the botanical gardens and the orchid and butterfly farm, as well as all the well known attractions of Chiang Mai). The hotel’s spa is also very good especially Fon. We are very much looking forward to our next visit to this beautiful hotel.

The pillars is one of the top greatest hotels my wife and I have ever stayed at. It is well kept, centrally located (but still tucked away from the chaos), romantic, and the service is out of this world. Also I will dream of the breakfasts until the next time we visit. If you are lucky you will have Toto as your personal butler. The hospitality industry needs more Toto’s. He makes you feel like you are his only priority, his suggestions are stewed with quality, he is kind, prompt, and ultra accommodating. The last thing I will say is the pool is from a fairytale. Make sure you have a day to enjoy the pool and daze off into the large green wall with mist.

137 Pillars is a beautiful hotel built in the style of the original Tea offices that still stands in the grounds and is used as the Bar and Restaurant. Our room was very luxurious and tastefully furnished. It had a bath, indoor shower and an outside shower. There was a spacious balcony overlooking the pool area with sofa and rocking chair. The hotel is conveniently situated in a quiet road one back from the main road along the river, that contains a good selection of restaurants. Across the foot bridge is China Town. The one thing that really stood out for us during our stay was the helpfulness and service given by the staff. They made us feel both welcome and looked after. Each room has an allocated staff member to look after your needs. Our man, Toto, was excellent at suggesting restaurant recommendations to match our sightseeing plans. He made all the reservations and made sure that we had the best tables in those restaurants. He also sourced medicines for my wife's blocked ear. It is these little things that make the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel.

The grounds are simply stunning, set in a tranquil environment within a beautifully restored teak house. The complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off made our arrival and departure effortless. We indulged in afternoon tea accompanied by piano music each evening, which added to the ambiance. The spa services were exceptional - we initially intended to book just one treatment but ended up scheduling more for the following day due to their quality. The butler service provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and activities. Additionally, the turn-down service included delightful treats and bedtime stories, adding a charming touch to our stay. I visited with a friend for a girls' weekend getaway and can't wait to return with my husband.

The Pillars is a modern luxury hotel-built around a traditional Thai house with suites and public rooms which reflect its colonial heritage. Suites are decorated and furnished in character but with state of the art technology as a bonus. Breakfast is served in a dining room and courtyard offering Thai and other Asian fare as well as classic western egg dishes, bakery products, cereal and fruit. It’s quite a small hotel so doesn’t have the range of much larger places but it’s adequate (though the buffet area itself is a bit cramped.) The dining room itself offers quite a range of Thai and Western food but as most residents eat out (and there is a massive choice of restaurants within 10 minutes walk) you could find yourself eating on your own. Toto, our butler, is a legend so if you’re looking for recommendations locally he will fix you up. The only slight negative note was a sense that there are a lot of rules, for staff and guests, a trivial example being an unwillingness on the part of the waiter to leave the water bottle on the table at dinner: it had to be left on an adjacent counter. And the warning that if you take home one of the cotton hotel laundry bags you will be charged for it would be comic if it wasn’t so petty.

We are a bit spoiled since the time we are able to choose the best hotels for our holidays in several countries. This one is the best ever. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, clean and comfortable. We had our own private and spacious balcony, we loved the outdoor shower (and an indoor plus a bathtub) and the beautiful furniture. Service is outstanding, everyone. Such a luxurious place in a rather big city: incredible. Oh! And the swimmingpool...it is fantastic. A bit of a jungle in town. The breakfast also. We were less enthusiastic about the restaurant, but we were not feeling well after the nighttrain from Bangkok, which was horrible. I hope we will come back!

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights including the New Years Eve celebration. Everything is the hotel was fabulous from the airport pick up point to onsite staff all the way thru our final departure. Our personal butler Toto took care of any needs or requests that arisen and was always available is WhatsApp. The general manager, Anne, always seemed to be onsite and was extremely personable and friendly with all guests. Food at their restaurant was great as was the breakfast each day. The guest services team suggested various tours in advance and helped with the required reservations. We also loved the late afternoon time at the pool. After a morning of tours each day, some time and cocktails at the pool was just perfect. The hotel itself has a great history (including a mini museum) on site, with origins going back to when the British had rights to harvest the teak wood from the region. Overall, a fabulous day, including a great New Year’s Eve gala. If you plan to visit Chiang Mai, this IS the place to stay.

An oasis in Chiang Mai! Our family spent three nights in this beautiful hotel and loved everything about our stay except one thing.. we didn't have enough down time between tours to luxuriate in the hotel! Anne the manager was lovely and gracious and met us at check in, and it was clear within moments that ALL of the staff here were just as kind and welcoming to our family (including Ray who was an amazing concierge/butler and assisted with scheduling transportation, booking meals, etc.) The room was beautifully appointed with a lovely balcony with a rocking chair and sofa - the perfect place to start the day with a coffee and book or end the day with a glass of wine. The breakfast buffet was lovely and offered a wide selection of both Thai and traditional foods, fresh and tasty! In the evening, we enjoyed a cocktail while listening to the piano player play some holiday tunes. I will recommend this hotel to anyone that visits Chiang Mai as I cannot imagine a property more perfect.

The 137 Pillars wooden House is a beauty !! The kitchen is good . It's not Thai food but for tourists good quality !! The mangeres is a disaster. Although from the 30 rooms there are only 15 in use, she does not have a clue about her guests and is living on a different planet !! I was greeted , oh what a pity you stay only 1 night where I was staying 3. It should not be that difficult if you have only 12 guests in the house. Then by accident the waiter poured coffee over my pants. The manager apologised but did NOT even be bothered to offer me a dry cleaning ! Then she in stalled Christmas decoration at the side of the stairs. So you can not hold this as a support if you walk up or down the stairs !! Totally out of order !! Looks nice but very dangerous !! The worst thing though is that I booked a pool suite and paid 1100 Euros per night . The freeking pool was NOT heated although I asked 3 times !! Overall . This place is TOTALLY overrated and NOT managed well !!! A waste of money !!!

Dear Jacomo50, My sincere apologies for failing to provide the service you deserve. Your feedback has been taken to heart and the concern you expressed regarding the stairs, addressed. With respect to the pool, thank you for bringing this to my attention. In checking with your personal butler, he received a request via line on day 3 of your stay and immediately had our engineers adjust the temperature as requested although the desired effect would have take a few hours. Should you be amenable to a conversation, please send me a note to gm@137pillarshouse.com. Regards
