Absolutely lovely hotel! It seems most, if not all, rooms overlook the pool/bar area, which has been quiet most of the day. Our room was spacious, clean, and their attention to detail is top notch. Room slippers and flip-flops provided for use during your visit, umbrellas, balcony drying rack, pillow/cushion for the balcony bench. There is a water bottle filling station steps away at the bar. The hotel provides free activities every morning on the pool deck such as soap making and bead crafts. They also provide a free shuttle to some local markets. Front desk staff are smiling and extremely helpful. Hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants or you can catch a Grab or tuktuk easily. There are many umbrellas and chairs around the pool available, many in the shade if desired. We had a very relaxing stay.

The Smile Lanna was a perfect choice for our group of six from Hong Kong on a 5 day golf tour to Chiang Mai. The rooms were spacious and well equipped including kettle and minibar . When handbasin tap failed to provide hot water it was immediately fixed . Staff were friendly and very helpful . Breakfast was all we could want and there was a discreet and pleasant smoking area for our cigar smokers . The layout of the hotel area was carefully thought out with a large parking area back from the road . Well landscaped with a pool and pastoral area . Highly recommend !!!

Our three-night stay at Smile Lanna Hotel in Chiang Mai was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the incredibly friendly and polite staff, who went out of their way to help with anything we needed—service here is truly spot on.
The breakfast was a highlight. With a wide range of options catering to various international tastes, it was a treat each morning. As coffee lovers, we were thrilled to find that the coffee was exceptional, a rare find in many hotels!
Our room faced the pool and was beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches and small details that really make a difference. The facilities, from the relaxing pool to the well-kept grounds, were all top-notch.
The added conveniences like airport transfers and the complimentary shuttle to the Night Bazaar (and other areas) were so handy, making our stay even more enjoyable. Smile Lanna Hotel truly goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome—an unforgettable stay in Chiang Mai!

Overall we were slightly disappointed with this hotel. We didn’t have the best start as we arranged an airport transfer in advance but they forgot so we were left waiting at the airport for an hour and there wasn’t much by way of apology, and the welcome was relatively lukewarm.
The rooms are spacious but there’s very little storage so we still had to live out of suitcases despite staying for over a week. The beds are also really hard though are a nice size.
The pool was more often than not absolutely freezing so felt unusable even in very hot weather, and there are only around 10 sun beds for over 60 rooms. This wasn’t too much of a problem for us as we were on the ground floor so could sit on our porch if there was no pool space, but I’m not sure how you’d get much use out of the pool otherwise as there’s not really anywhere to sit. When you can get sun beds, they are lovely and are situated in the pool itself which is really nice because you can just dip your feet in while relaxing.
Breakfast was really average and there’s not a huge amount of choice for vegetarians, especially in the Thai food section.
The hotel doesn’t serve alcohol though you can buy your own and bring it in. Not the end of the world but it’s nice to be able to have a cocktail by the pool on holiday.
There is a free shuttle service that goes to the night market in the evenings which is a really nice touch and was really convenient. Also the bath is beautiful, one of the nicest I’ve seen in a hotel. There’s also happy hour in the afternoons where you can get free fruit and juice which is nice.
The staff are very friendly, especially the security guard, who we really enjoyed seeing!
Our experience on the whole was mixed. There are definitely some nice things about this hotel but it definitely wasn’t what we expected based on previous reviews and although there wasn’t one significant issue, there were enough small things that put a dampener on our stay.

Great! Our best Hotel in Chiang Mai, we loved our too much stay at this Hotel, whether it was the staff welcome when we arrived, or the quality of the room and the heated pool, we liked everything. Doi welcomes you with a big smile and a kindness with perfect English as well as all the people of the hotel. Breakfast is great with Thai and Western specialties. The choice is very wide. The room is superb with a large bed and good pillow not too big nor too small. The central bathtub in the bedroom really gives a typical character to the bathroom. I would recommend this Hotel 100% for your stay in Chiang Mai. It has an ideal location close to the airport (maximum 10 min drive) and just in front of the city center. The little most appreciable: the fitness room and electric scooters available in the parking lot with a subscription.

We stayed here, traveling from Bangkok, for 5 nights. The hotel feels really like home. It’s an oasis in a busy city. Every time we walked to markets, it was a pleasure returning.
Staff really friendly (security guard in particular) and the rooms feel high quality with a nice balcony with a relaxing bench, overlooking the pool. Great garden, well maintained.
The breakfast is good with a wide variety. As a coffee lover, it was great that a member of staff was operating an espresso machine! Big plus.
Pool nog massive but with inflatables etc really nice. The bed are in the water which is a fun feature.
The locations is great and we walked the large majority, although red taxis and tuck tucks are everywhere.
As a family (kids 7,9,11) we enjoyed the food at the markets. Tip: 9Sibblings restaurant. Super small, no AC but really nice for amazing prices. It’s at a 7 min walk from the hotel.
All in all, this hotel is small which gives a nice vibe and offers quality. Would definitely re-visit.

This hotel is INCREDIBLY dishonest. We booked a “Grand Deluxe” room, which is specifically advertised as having a day bed and being 45 sq m. The room we were given was barely larger than the bed - we are a couple traveling with our infant son and the crib only just fit in the room. No day bed, absolutely not 45 sq m. My parents next door had a spacious room, with day bed, and had booked the same category.
We spoke to the front desk numerous times and were told we were given “the only grand deluxe room that doesn’t have a day bed.” The advertisement for the grand deluxe specifically includes a day bed and extra space, that is what sets it apart from the deluxe rooms. Eventually, the hotel said they would move us to a new room with a day bed on our second night, but would not be giving us any compensation for the fact that our first night is not in the room category we booked. Further, it is not easy for us to pack all of our infant’s stuff up and just move night by night.
Ultimately, this is completely dishonest and deplorable business habits. If we weren’t here with my parents, we would have asked for a chargeback on our credit card and gone to another hotel. This was a horrendous start to our vacation and had the mistake simply been acknowledged and corrected (pay the room rate for the smaller room on night one and move us to the proper room we booked on night two), this all would’ve barely been as issue. The lying, however, is truly infuriating. I will never come here again and would warn anyone against booking it, and you have absolutely not certainty that you will get what you booked, or even honest service in the least.

Ideal hotel to relax in a very friendly atmosphere. The organized activities, the breakfast, the calm, But above all a top staff, always smiling, thank you Guid (sorry for the writing mistakes) Pet's manager of the restaurant, Mr. security, always a little word of good humor and thanks to all the others whose first names I unfortunately did not remember. An ideally heated pool, neither too cold nor too hot, large enough to actually swim, not just get wet. Thank you for the organization of the extraordinary Christmas, small gifts every morning, a buffet meal and drink offered for New Year's Eve, as well as a dance and singing show, etc. Extraordinary. Thank you all. If I come back to Chiang Mai I will stay here again. Excellent quality/price ratio
The door closing system requires you to slam it and therefore wakes up all the neighbors at any time. This is unfortunately what we find in all hotels or guesthouses.

This boutique hotel is well located in CHIANG MAI. It is close to the Saturday and Sunday night markets and the main temples if you walk a little. The bedding is good. However, it is a little aging and the soundproofing of the rooms is imperfect. The setting is very pretty with a heated swimming pool as a highlight while being almost in the city center. The stay there is pleasant but two weak points spoil the vacation somewhat. The first surprise is to learn that in this hotel there is no alcohol, even in the restaurant. Impossible to have a drink at the swimming pool in the absence of a bar even if a "happy hour" is offered with only tea and coffee. Without being an "alcoholic", a cocktail (or even non-alcoholic for that matter) by the magnificent swimming pool would have been appreciated. Second point, for which the hotel is not really responsible. Avoid Chinese holiday periods at all costs. They respect absolutely nothing and whatever the time or place, you will hear them screaming whether they are adults or children. Impossible to benefit from the tranquility of the place despite posters posted by management to ask customers to respect the tranquility. It’s a shame that management doesn’t intervene despite our requests.

Disappointing stay at Smile Lanna. On the surface the facilities are pretty and the staff are very nice. However, some very important services need to improve at this hotel: 1) Breakfast is pretty good but the other meals we ordered were poorly prepared and often tasteless. 2) This hotel is somewhat isolated so there aren’t many options for restaurants unless you get car service into town, this made a bad restaurant service more important, 3) This hotel is dry (no alcohol). So this should be communicated before you book, 4) The shuttle service is way to limited, 5) every time I asked front desk for something they made a point of telling me what I would be charged for exam I needed towels for beach tour and it made me uncomfortable like I wasn’t going to return their old well used pool towels! I didn’t enjoy my stay.
