Came in to the shop on hotel grounds to buy a vase. Was told the vases were 1000 baht. I found the same exact vase on the other side of the wall and brought it over to the one I initially was looking at to compare coloring because I’m picky about my decor. I confirmed with the woman who told me 1000 baht that this would be the same price and miraculously the vase I wanted suddenly became 1500 baht. I said no to the price and asked why since she was obviously trying to rip me off. She said it’s because the first vase was broken (had a tiny chip, as terracotta often does). I pointed out the vase I wanted had the same exact imperfection in the same exact spot. Then she decided I could pay 1300 baht. I said no and said I’d give her 1200 which she agreed to. It was obvious she was trying to take advantage so I asked to pay with card to see how she’d react. As expected, she started throwing every reason I couldn’t pay with card at me despite there being a huge sign right outside the hotel that says “cashless payment method preferred.” And saying that she would charge me more if I paid by card (a 3% surcharge and also a totally different and more expensive price for the vase). I was hot and annoyed by the staff all staring at me the whole time I was shopping so decided to pay the 1200 baht and left. She immediately pocketed the cash and did not place it into a register or anything. I’ve been traveling Thailand for weeks and know to expect that sales people will take advantage when they can, but for her to not let me pay with card so that she can make money off a sale by taking the cash, is dishonest. I really liked the look of this hotel and was considering staying here on my next trip to Thailand, but now I will not because I don’t want to be around dishonest staff nor would I trust my belongings in a hotel room with staff that have proven to be this way. The shop, cafe, and hotel all looked like a ghost town every time I walked by, and now I know why. There’s better places to stay in Chiang Mai - look elsewhere.

We have been to Chiang Mai several times and this is possibly the most aesthetical designed of all. It is flat out beautiful. The touches extend to the well designed rooms. The staff is wonderful whose recommendations were excellent. It's quiet in an active colorful neighborhood. Very good breakfast only negative was the erratic and weak wifi, which they should solve. A hotel this great should not have this problem. Otherwise it was one our best Stays ever in Chiang Mai.

This is a delightful hotel. Our bedroom was very comfortable and well appointed and the hotel's decor is aesthetically pleasing throughout - most notably in the terracotta murals everywhere, including the bedrooms and in the very elegant swimming pool. Sam, the manager, and all his staff are extremely helpful and welcoming and the hotel's location in the old town, a short walk from an excellent street food site, as well as numerous temples, restaurants and shops is to be recommended. Minor reservation about breakfast, which could be better and is served in a slightly depressing room and the introduction of an element of waiter service for drinks and snacks at e.g. the pool might be welcome.

First impressions were that this hotel had the 'wow' factor. Loved the terracotta sculptures everywhere. However, on checking in we were read a list of their rules & regulations - including that if any tea/coffee or other stains were found on the sheets we would have to pay for a new sheet. If you lose your key card there's a 300bht fee (plastic card, not an actual key). Didn't feel particularly welcoming. In the room is a list of all items contained in the room ranging from the huge terracotta sculpture above the bed to the TV to the duvet cover, complete with a price list of what guests will have to pay if anything's damaged e.g. £75 if duvet cover is stained. We were that worried about accidentally spilling coffee we daren't even make a drink in the room. This was a break for our wedding anniversary but I was so petrified of stains it definitely wasn't a romantic atmosphere. The pool area is in shade most of the time. A makeshift step has been placed from reception into the garden area, which is wobbly. The breakfast offerings were the worst out of all 7 of the hotels we stayed in on this visit to Thailand (& all previous visits too). If you wanted coffee you ordered this & it was brought to your table in proper cups. If you drink tea like us, the only option for this was flimsy paper cups with paper handles - a potential safety hazard. I tried to order tea in proper cups but was directed to the paper cups. This hotel was in the higher price bracket - yet even an elephant camp where the room cost 1/3 of the price per night had proper crockery for making cups of tea! On checking out, our driver was waiting to transfer us to our next area for an elephant feeding experience. The receptionist expected us to wait until housekeeping had checked our room for any missing items or stains! We don't appreciate being eyed with suspicion. In all other hotels we stayed at in Thailand, checkout was smooth & efficient leaving us to get on with our busy schedule. This hotel unfortunately didn't meet our expectations.

A beautiful hotel with exceptional hospitality in the heart of chiang mai. We stayed here for 2 nights in total and would have stayed longer if availability allowed. The hotel is tranquil from the bustle of the city. It features beautiful ornate terracotta pieces throughout. There is a beautiful outdoor pool which was a little cool for my liking. The pool area doesn’t seem to catch a lot of sun but still enjoyable to relax around. The buffet breakfast was very good and they also provided me with gluten-free bread every morning along with freshly made scrambled eggs, avocado and barista coffee. We also had our laundry done which was washed and dry within 12 hours. Nothing is too much to ask and the staff helped us organise some trips for our stay as well as make a special mango sticky rice birthday cake!

Great hotel and beautiful unique design. Would definitely recommend. Location is close to the markets. Rooms were very clean. Excellent shower. Good coffee maker (key to a happy dad), pool is beautiful but a little shady. Small breakfast buffet but plenty of choices for our family both Thai and Western and it lasted 4 hours. Very, very friendly staff. Laundry service available and similar cost to sending it out.

Large comfortable room with friendly helpful staff. Good location. However, when our plans changed and we had to leave a day earlier, they refused to refund our last night which we booked through booking.com, despite the hotel being largely empty. Booking.com left the refund option up to the hotel, and they refused despite the fact that it did not affect their ability to book to someone else since the hotel was far from full occupancy. While that is technically within the overall "terms" of the booking, I found it to be poor and inflexible customer service since the hotel was largely empty.
