Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This hotel is situated outside the "city wall" area but still close to everything. Grab a map from reception and start exploring by foot. Easy walk into city centre, over the Ping River to the night and flower markets. If you don't care to walk, just walk to either Kaew Nawarat Road or in the other direction to Charoen Muang Road to catch a Songthaew (red taxi or red pick up). Costs THB30 - don't know how far you can actually go for that money, but will take you to Thapae Gate. I walked to and from Cental Festival Mall, Decathlon, Big C, Lotus's. A walk from this hotel to Katare Night Bazaar takes about 20 minutes. A must buy is "Mango and sticky rice" from a delightful lady that explains the process as she prepares this delightful dish, for THB70. Hotel is within 200 metres of a number of restaurants and coffee shops, that offer excellent service and product. Room (1202) is large, has the fanciest toilet and a very comfortable bed.

We booked a triple room here and it was very spacious with a desk and a sitting area and lots of room for suitcases. The staff was friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to help us when the taxi couldn't find the hotel. Apparently, the Grab site does not list the hotel and you need to walk a short distance to a cafe down the road for the taxi pick up. The hotel was about a 20 walk to the Nawarat Bridge so not quite as convenient for walking as we had thought, but it was on a quiet street with a couple nice cafes nearby. We really enjoyed the clean and refreshing pool. If you are here for the lantern festival, go to the Doi Saket lake area (not the hot springs!) for the mass launching and don't let them convince you that it is a paid event. It is free! The lanterns were banned in 2022 and 2023 in the town and on the bridge although we heard that people sent them up anyways. Take a taxi or the red trucks to Doi Saket lake village area. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel and would highly recommend it.

Extremely clean, safe and friendly… just a lovely hotel to stay at. Everything is perfect. This is a very well run hotel just outside the hectic areas. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The photos are 100% accurate. Everything works - you will not be disappointed.

During our 2-month long travel in Chiang Mai, we have tried 7 different hotels and Villa Sanpakoi is hands down the best among all. Despite the size as a boutique hotel, they carry a service standard of a 5-star hotel - the staff are super friendly (everyone always greet you with a genuine smile); the room is absolutely clean (I could not even find a single finger print during my month-long stay here); the amenity provided (e.g. they provide 4 bottles of water everyday vs. most other hotels just provide 2), the free bikes that help us get around conveniently, the pool facilities (the pool is super clean and abundant towels are always filled at the pool side); the complimentary breakfast covers both thai and western options.... While the hotel is just 10-min drive to old town by Grab, it also has an advantage of being close a very interesting local neighbourhood - more than 20 charming cafes and local eatery around (we found many of them the best in town!), 5-min cycling to the very local San Pa Koi Market where we could get authentic Thai food and fruits, 5-min cycling to the Ping riverside where there are a wide variety of bars and resturants, a 1-min walk to coin laundry, etc We were also very lucky to be here during Songkran and were again pleasantly surprised by the hotel when they set up water buckets at the entrance to let us enjoy the festival like local, which is an unforgettable experience for us. THANK YOU everyone from the team of Villa Sanpakoi. Our stay at Chiang Mai would not be as wonderful without your great job. And we cannot wait to return soon!

The staff could not be more helpful and the room was spacious very clean and stylish- we were able to arrange vegan breakfasts - free loan of bicycles was the added bonus for getting into the old town or to walk was about 30 minutes. The trips were excellent value -thank you all so much for your help We did not use the plastic water bottles as we have water purifier bottles - maybe letting guests refill water mig hot help with plastic waste and Brits love to fill a water bottle!

CONS: The room and fittings were extremely basic and drab. I hate having an extra bed in a room when it is not needed and when the upholstery has gross stains on it, that only makes matters worse. Lots of noise from above - showers toilets flushing and children stomping and running from 6:30am The breakfast was pretty awful too so I just skipped that. Staff were slightly impartial - one expects a lot more from Thai hospitality PROS: big comfortable bed with a nice hard mattress and the nice view of the pool on the balcony. The free bikes are a pleasant bonus

Villa Sanpakoi is absolutely brilliant, we loved our stay. The area is quiet and surrounded by some of the most amazing local restaurants and food stalls. Just 20-30 mins walk to old town, 15 mins to riverside or supermarket (or you can cycle with the free bikes for much quicker). For those who prefer not to walk, the team is extremely helpful with sorting out transport and excursions. Sadly we were the only guests there for most of our time, so come back people, this place is such a good option in Chiang Mai. We stayed in a room that accommodated 2 adults + 2 kids in one room.

I have traveled many countries, and stayed in many great hotels and rentals, but this is the first time I have written a review! What do you hope for when you travel? Me?--a welcoming staff, friendly service, and quality of facility, food, and cleanliness. Villa Sanpakoi goes way beyond in all areas! Every person working on the grounds, kitchen, dining, housekeeping, and front desk is courteous, caring, and sincere. Each morning we receive a free buffet breakfast in a spacious dining room with a terrific host. Afterwards, I enjoy a morning swim in their crystal clear pool. Our room is immaculately cleaned every day by a delightful housekeeping staff. During our stay, we had many questions and at times unusual needs, and the front desk personnel were always responsive and attentive to our requests. An example of the kind of care we experienced during our stay, is that we walked from the hotel to a restaurant about one mile away. During dinner, a monsoon season storm rained heartily. We ended up being stranded on our way home along a flooded alleyway. We could not find an available BOLT car, so in desperation we called the hotel for assistance. The hotel manager himself (who was off duty) came to rescue us! He left his own evening with friends to come pick us up and drive us safely back to the hotel. This sort of kindness and care was present from the first few steps we took onto the property, and embodied by each and every employee. Great job to everyone at Villa Sanpakoi for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable!

The room is neat and clean. The service is very satisfied. The price they offer is very too low compare to the room and service i have received! The worker is well mannered and truly willingly to service us with all of our request. Surely we will visit them again!
