A two-storey boutique hotel with 10 rooms in the heart of the old town.

The main tourist attractions and the night bazaar are within walking distance, and the clean, comfortable rooms, delicious food, and friendly staff make this a hotel where you can relax both physically and mentally.

●Rooms

The rooms are spacious, at about 35m2. There is no bathtub, only a shower. There is also plenty of storage space in the closet. The linens and towels are clean and soft enough to use. The bathroom amenities are plentiful and there are no problems. There is also a refrigerator and a safety deposit box, and two bottles of mineral water are provided per person every day, so there is no need to buy it at a convenience store.

●Breakfast
The system involves filling out the time and menu you want on the breakfast order sheet the day before, and you can choose salad, juice, egg dishes, and bread. At first, I thought it was a bit of a hassle, but in the morning, when I sat down, the food was served immediately, and everything was carefully made, very delicious, and there was plenty of it, so I was very satisfied. The coffee is dripped each time, so you can drink delicious coffee every morning. ●Hotel staff
All the staff are friendly and will gladly answer any questions or requests. On the day of check-out, it was early in the morning, so we couldn't eat in the restaurant, but they prepared a hearty box breakfast for us and handed it to us in a shopping bag along with a drink.
When we were leaving, they came to our car and saw us off with a smile. This hotel's consistent hospitality, which values its guests, made for a comfortable stay.

The most beautiful structure I have seen in Chiangmai.
Very clean, plentiful, fresh and good breakfast, super friendly and smiling staff.
The swimming pool is very clean, useful for hot and muggy days.
I really recommend it to couples who need to isolate themselves from the chaos of the city in a romantic place surrounded by greenery, with attention to the smallest detail.
The cost per night is approximately 73 euros per couple.

This property excels in customer service. Comfort and location
The service level was amazing: as an example, we had booked a very early day tour. As we realized the pickup service was getting to be too late for us to make the tour, the 2 employees on duty offered to give us rides on their scooters! What an experience it was to arrive on the back of a scooter to meet our tour director!!!!
Other examples of outstanding service were plentiful !
Our room was very comfortable and met all our needs.
The breakfasts were outstanding offering many delicious options!
Being near several outstanding restaurants was also a plus!
This was simply a great, small hotel!!!

In the heart of old Chiang Mai, near the night market. On a side street and very quiet and well appointed rooms and public spaces. The staff was attentive and excellent. Breakfast was spectacular each day with lots of choices. We had to leave before breakfast one morning and they provided us with a take away breakfast and snacks for our day trip. The room was lovely with Thai furnishings. Spacious rooms that had everything including fresh fruit. Small pool, quiet courtyard with lots of places to sit and enjoy the laid back atmosphere.

The hotel was wonderful to stay at. We got upgraded upon arrival and the staff was pleasant to deal with. We needed to have some of our bags kept at the hotel for our elephant sanctuary experience and they were more than accommodating.

Food at the restaurant was delicious for breakfast, as well.

We would come back and stay here again!

Baan Klang Wiang is a little oasis inside the walls of CM. The staff are so friendly and attentive. Booer, and Nancy were amazing, helping me with little things such as drying out my saturated boots. The location is great and quiet. A walk or short scooter ride to everything. Over the road is the temple with the massage school - the real Thai massage and so cheap. Breakfast by the pool, just lovely. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the four poster beds are super comfortable. They gave the suite upstairs when I came back from a weeks riding. It was almost too opulent. Price is very reasonable for such a great boutique hotel. The booking process was done by email and I admit ringing to confirm just to be sure, but all was in order. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in CM.

We loved this little hotel in the old city. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Particular thanks to the Australian man who was very helpful with getting around as we are first timers in Thailand. We didn't see him before we left so cheers! The breakfasts were all lovely with choice of American or Thai with choices made the night before.
The hotel is within walking distance of both the Saturday and Sunday walking markets and all the ok town. The rooms were spotless and we loved the pool which felt like a natural pool with plants surrounding. The garden is a lovely area to sit in, the staff brought us cold drinks.
Would definitely return. Thanks!

A BIG thankyou to all the staff at Baan Klang Wiang! The best place we've ever stayed at! We were there for 11 days. Beautiful boutique hotel and very personalised as only 10 rooms. The whole place is gorgeous, beautifully decorated with local artwork and antiques with lovely gardens and pool. The rooms are lovely, we stayed in the Suite which we were upgraded to for no extra cost. It was large and inviting and decorated beautifully. TV and DVD player in the bedroom and living room and the rain shower was great.
I can't speak highly enough about the staff who were more like friends. Such lovely, warm people who couldn't do enough for us. I was sad to leave. Look no further than Baan Klang Wiang, we won't stay anywhere else when we next in Chiang Mai!

THE GOOD:

Location -
Within the ‘Square’, it is just barely off the ring road, but super quiet neighborhood. Once inside the building itself, all you can hear is the water flowing into the pool. However, a short walk via one of the side streets you’re close by to several well rated restaurants or the roads to the main sightseeing attractions. Just down the road back to the main road is also a 7-11 to pick up small items as needed. It isn’t exactly the most action-packed location, but the town isn’t too large to get around.

Rooms –
I had one of the base/superior rooms and it was massive. The rooms have a double-door entry that leads to an entryway type corridor with the mini-fridge, wardrobe, and countertop for appliances. I actually really liked this countertop as it had a lower and upper shelf. I would stand here to eat with my laptop on the top shelf which was just below eyelevel. Love small little features like that. To the right was the room and to the left was the bathroom. The shower was large, big deep single sink, and plenty of space. The room as well was quiet large, with desk, sitting chairs, etc. Not being a modern build, there was not a ton of outlets in the room itself. I unplugged a lamp from a power strip and found another by the bed, so they’re available, you just may need to find them. Spare plugs on the counter in the entryway if really needed. Also, the rooms keep really cool. I think I switched the air-con off leaving one day and forgot to turn it back on and barely felt a difference. I believe the TV had a fair amount of channels, but more so local than international, but I recall various English, Euro, & perhaps an Arabic one.

Hotel Building –
You can see from the pictures, it really is brilliant looking; exactly what you’d want from a boutique hotel in the city. It is just modern enough to not sacrifice convenience comforts, while remaining unique. The courtyard in the center is beautiful, with plenty of tables and sitting areas. I don’t think I actually saw anyone use the pool in my couple days, but really wish I had more time to take a swim and sit and have a beer. It’s one of those type of setting where you think ‘I’d really like to live in a building like this.’ It has security round the clock, confirmed when I woke him up trying to figure out how to open the front door at 4 am (soz – time differences). Others mentioned mosquitos, but I had zero issues entire stay.

THE BAD:

Breakfast peak -
While there is a good amount of tables, it does get cramped during peak breakfast hours. I ate breakfast there one day and the only available table was next to the check in desk, so it isn’t the most comfortable eating with people checking out & talking to the desk, etc right next to you. However, the other day I was getting up to go on an excursion and they offered to package up some items for me that I could take to go. Food was pretty good as well.

In-room safe –
The safe in the room was quite small. Large enough for your small valuables, but things like laptops are too large. External security is quite good however.

SUMMARY:
Great, central location, which is walk-able to most places. Quiet, relaxing setting with large rooms. Staff was nice and I had no communication issues. I only stayed a couple days, but hotel fulfilled everything I was looking for and lived up to its lofty ratings.

This property ticks all of the boxes! The location is central- within the walled city; the physical property is old-world colonial style; the rooms are both tasteful & spacious; the breakfast fresh & plentiful; and the staff second to none. The hotel was a wonderful retreat after hot days touring the City. I must do a shout out to some of the staff- Pang, Brad, and Amm were all a delight. They made us feel very comfortable during our stay. These three individuals have excellent customer focus. Thank you Pang, Brad, and Amm. When we return to Chiang Mai, our address will be Baan Klang Wiang- one of the finest boutique hotels we've stayed in.

Does the hotel offer airport pick ups?
Answer from Hoshi1
London, Canada134 contributions41 helpful votes
Yes, BUT - on our last 2 trips they were not at the airport to pick us up, due to "whatever". They are only a 10 min taxi ride away, so when we didn't see them we picked up a local taxi ride from the airport. When we arrived the staff at Baan Klang were apologetic, welcoming and paid the taxi driver. SO don't fret if they are not there when you arrive. It is an easy airport to navigate, not like Bangkok.
