This is a lovely little boutique hotel tucked away in a quiet spot in The Old City of Chiang Mai. We had a beautiful suite with a little balcony. Even though we were in the old city, it was a quiet section and we awoke to birds and the sounds of children at a nearby school as opposed to traffic. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful. The hotel is beautifully clean and well kept. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and is very good with a selection of western and thai options and plenty of fresh fruit. The coffee is superb. It is lovely to sit and have breakfast next to the pool. Last but not least, it is only 15 minutes from the airport. We would stay there again if we were to return to Chiang Mai.

Very comfortable beds and pillows. My friends complained a little about noise from the street, but I slept like a baby. The toilet in the shower was a little weird though. After showering you end up with a wet floor in the toilet area, but I handled this by laying down my used towel to walk on. Breakfast each day was included with the room and cooked fresh to order. Cappuccino was delicious. Overall I felt this hotel was a great value, and I would stay here again.

On the surface, this is a cool older-style, attractive building. My room had hardwood floors and was comfortable but there were only bright, glaring ceiling lights- no ambient lamps or a dimmer to set a more comfortable vibe. But here’s where I really struggled: Cheeva Dee charges big city prices yet is located down an alley that is both nondescript & unceremonious. The location is virtually in the middle of nowhere yet I was woken by the other rooms closing their doors - so make no mistake, this is not some peaceful oasis. Additionally to not have an espresso/pod machine in-room or on the restaurant is simply behind the times. (Even my regular room at Indigo Hotel in Phuket had one) The included breakfast was maybe a 5 out of 10. To not fault of the patient, polite staff. These big decisions are out of their control and I feel sorry for them that owners & managers aren’t giving them the tools to exceed guest expectations. And again, the lack of espresso based drinks is criminal when charging $200 per night. Would I stay here again? Nope. This is marketed well, but don’t be fooled - the devil is in the details & when you are charging exorbitant room rates, you better get the details right.

Lovely boutique hotel full of humble, courteous and welcoming staff; all eager to please. Very responsive to email queries. Also arranged car and driver for day tours. Location was ideal - easy walks to old city attractions. Room was very comfortable with some of the best bedding I have ever used…great, wooden/retro feel to the room; only downside was weak shower water pressure, and toilet and shower in close proximity - same enclosure. Breakfast was amazing - very creatively presented each time (see photos) - Thai, Western, Vegan options! Overall, enjoyed the stay tremendously. Plan to return!

I am honourably giving this hotel five stars as way of encouragement. But do read on! This place is pristine clean and the room was large and comfortable. Mine had no windows but I was aware of that when booking. No issue. When I compared Cheeva Dee and the location with other higher rated hotels that I considered, I was convinced that Chreeva Dee was correct for me … quiet location near Preah Singh Temple. Sadly, no one has told the staff that they are in “hospitality” and service. When I arrived at 9,00 pm the “receptionist only told me I needed to pay (Booking.com) and pointed me to the lift. No welcome drink similar to daytime guests. What about “welcome to our hotel” or “I hope you enjoy yours stay”. Nothing! At breakfast I had a similar experience. The menu was placed in front of me and I indicated my choices. Off the server went and brought my food. Not a word. There are three members of staff in the dining room whose voices I never heard in five days. On day 3 a young lady asked me about the food. I was so shocked that I asked her why she had enquired. She explained people were writing bad reviews but never told them, personally. I am not surprised! Nobody engages. So I was relieved to have the opportunity to have a conversation with this young lady who told me she was at University and this was a part-time job. I talked about her Humanities course and future career. Strangely, she never asked one question about me!!! It may be a training issue. But the staff here appear to have no interest in “people”. Someone need to explain to these lovely people that hospitality is not just about clinically serving food and taking money. A hotel is more than decor and cleanliness - vital though these are. No, it is about the customer “experience” of welcome, warmth and ‘feeling at home’. Cheeva Dee staff keep reminding you that you are a ‘stranger in town’. I hope my gracious and generous five star rating is accepted as an invocation to offer “service” in its true sense.

We checked in at Cheeva Dee for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay! The hotel is modern and very clean. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to accomodate to our needs, and the reception desk was open 24/7. We included the breakfast in our stay, and had great meals by the pool each morning! The pool area was lovely for a quick swim. Our room was very spacious and had a huge comfortable bed. It was beautifully clean each day after the cleaning service. The location was great, it was very close to loads of restaurants and right around the corner from Sun Rays, a beautiful breakfast/lunch spot. We would definitely stay here again when in Chiang Mi, it was a lovely experience!

Just a couple of minutes walk from Wat Phra Singh, Cheeva Dee is located in a quiet part of the Old Town, with plenty of cafes and restaurants right on your doorstep. English is somewhat limited among the staff, but the service is good and very friendly. The pool area is a lovely place to relax, albeit slightly cold (no solar heating) and with no lounges (only couches). Rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are spacious, although the toilet inside the shower area is a bit strange. Amenities are bit a lacking (spa not currently open, no gym, a la carte breakfast instead of buffet), but to be expected in a small hotel. Overall, an quaint small hotel with a great location.
