Services that cover ambiguous locations

Both the front desk and restaurant staff are friendly.

1. Unlimited breakfast: I tried almost everything, but the salmon teriyaki was quite delicious. The soybean paste soup that came with it and the kimbap that was on its own were well imitated. In particular, I asked if it was possible to add a small amount of other rice to the kimbap, but they said no because it was already dried, so I just asked for what was already there... but when I looked at the food that came out, it felt like it had been rolled freshly. (If that's true, thank you very much...!)

2. Surprise voucher: I stayed for 3 nights and was given a 300 baht voucher for each day, so I used it well for room service, drinks and late-night snacks at the restaurant.
On the day I was at the restaurant, an acoustic guitarist and a female vocalist were performing, and I had panne pasta and club sandwiches from room service, which were delicious. Maybe it's because it's Michelin... but the dishes from all countries are interesting. Does it feel like the chef has tried a lot of food from many different countries? ..

3. Breakfast tea recommendation: Try Thai milk tea for breakfast. You can adjust the syrup to your taste by adding it separately. When the glass is empty, there's no way to just put it away.. Ask if you want another drink, ask how it tasted... It's so sweet.

4. In addition to the breakfast menu I ordered, there was a mini buffet. Krappa Omu Ssap? It's Thai stir-fried pork. That's the most delicious. But I only looked at the hot meal menu on the last day to see if it changes all the time.

5. I sleep well around 6 o'clock and I get mango jelly, an eye patch, and water^^ every day~

6. There is a shuttle bus. There is one per day for each destination, and of course it is one-way. I went to Jingzhai Market by Sunday shuttle bus. The bus capacity is 8 or 9 people, so it is best to make a reservation in advance.
Maya Mall/Night Bazaar/Jingzhai, etc.

Since I went there during the slash-and-burn period, all I could do was eat and rest. So it's all about eating. ^^

I went up to the swimming pool once during the day, but the water quality didn't seem to be very good (it was a cut-and-run period, so it wasn't the hotel's fault), so I stayed in the room, but I was still satisfied with the best service, and it's a hotel I want to come back to again.

The only downside was that the air conditioner was loud, but I quickly got used to it haha.

Cross at Chiang Mai was a nice stay. I was in the pool suite. The good things: incredible breakfast and really excellent reception. Both my check-in and check-out were nice experiences. The staff is amazing. From the cleaners to the front desk boys to the restaurant, everyone was very nice and if they couldn’t understand English they would find me someone who did. The mini bar selection is very good and extensive. The bathroom is very large and loved the tub. The private pool was amazing. Turn down service is a really nice touch and in general the housekeeping every day was excellent in my suite. I enjoyed inviting friends over for afternoon tea and sitting outside overlooking the river. Extremely private and quiet accommodation which is exactly what I wanted.

The restaurant is very good and their Michelin meals are worth the cost & accolades. I loved the scallops.

However, here’s the slightly less positive (all small details, but worth mentioning considering the $$$$ price tag to stay here). The rooftop pool is nice but the bar up there is filthy. The glasses sitting outside have a green hue and it’s also very messy. Really stood out because the rest of the hotel resort is so nice and cleans. It’s like no one has cleaned the upstairs bar in six months, plus there is no staff upstairs, no music, etc. I think they should consider closing the bar or at minimum cleaning it extensively.

The steam room for women is very small and basic. Also there is no sauna (steam and sauna are two different things). The steam room also didn’t work when I tried the first time but a staff member fixed it for me quickly :). The gym is also very small, but that’s not a problem since there’s not many guests.

The other thing missing here is ambience. There is a coldness to the resort and it often felt like I was the only guest there. Many shared places, restaurant and bars were mostly empty, which is very noticeable when you’re traveling solo.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay and getting some peace! However, if you’re looking for a bustling atmosphere or a more social resort experience this is not going to be the place. I think this place is probably better for couples or weddings where you bring your friend group with you, not necessarily for being solo.

Dear Laura, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your recent stay with us at Cross Chiang Mai Riverside. We are delighted to hear that your pool suite experience was enjoyable, and we truly value your constructive feedback. Your kind words about our breakfast, staff, and the pool suite's amenities, including the private pool and large bathroom, are greatly appreciated. It’s wonderful to know you found our team attentive and that the turn-down service and housekeeping exceeded your expectations. We’re also glad you enjoyed the Michelin meals, especially the scallops, which are a guest favorite! We value your observations about areas that could use improvement. The feedback regarding the rooftop bar is particularly concerning, and I apologize for the condition you encountered. This is not reflective of the high standards we aim to uphold. I will ensure immediate attention is given to this space, including thorough cleaning and reviewing the overall ambiance and functionality. Your comments on the steam room and gym are also noted. While we aim to provide relaxing and functional wellness facilities, I recognize there is room to enhance the experience. Thank you for pointing out the quick response from our staff in fixing the steam room; we are committed to ensuring such issues are addressed promptly. Regarding the atmosphere, we understand that a lively ambiance is important for some guests, especially solo travelers. While we pride ourselves on being a serene and tranquil escape, we will explore ways to create a more engaging and warm environment in our shared spaces to better balance solitude and sociability. Thank you again for your honest feedback and for choosing to stay with us. Should you consider returning in the future, we would love the opportunity to ensure an even better experience for you. Please feel free to contact me directly so we can assist with any arrangements. Warm regards, Julian and Cross Chiang Mai Riverside Team

I would like to give extra points just for the design and the friendly staff as well as the many small special touches (e.g. personalized chocolate bars as a small welcome gift) ☺️
We had river view rooms, which are a very comfortable size and equipped with a large shower room.
There is a great rooftop pool and a fitness room with a view of the river.
The hotel stands out from other hotels in terms of architecture and styling in many details and thus offers a special stay. The location is not in the inner old town part of Chiang Mai, but we saw this as an advantage. The hotel offers bicycles for rent, but you can also quickly get to the old town part by tuk tuk or Grab.
We ate in the hotel's own restaurant Oxygen in the evening. It is certainly expensive for Thailand but the menu was definitely worth it and offered us a special culinary evening.
We can recommend the hotel without reservation and it will definitely be our first choice if we visit Chiang Mai again!
Thanks to the entire team at Cross Chiang Mai for the special stay.

Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Breakfast: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Afternoon Tea: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Room Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

WiFi: ⭐⭐ (Difficult to log on, only worked in the lobby. The front desk staff kindly connected me to the office network.)

Overall, I would rate this hotel as a 3-star experience at best.

We booked three rooms (403, 404, and 405) and stayed in Room 403 with a 4-year-old child. The hotel provided a rollaway bed for a reasonable additional cost. The rooms were fairly clean, and turn-down service was excellent. However, the rooms felt somewhat worn, particularly in the bathroom, and the walls were very thin, making it easy to hear noise from neighboring rooms. I highly recommend packing earplugs.

Major Issue: Strong Sewage Smell

Our biggest concern arose on the first night when we turned off the fan and woke up in the middle of the night to a strong sewage odor. Initially, I assumed this was a common issue in hotels, but our other two rooms did not have this problem. I reported it to the front desk the next morning, and they assured me they would look into it while we were out for the day. Upon returning, the smell had improved slightly but was still noticeable.

That evening, however, the odor became significantly worse. We informed the front desk again the following morning. They checked with the manager and offered to switch rooms, but since we only had one night left, we opted to stay. Moving with a young child is not easy.

Would I Return?

Personally, I would not stay here again. Given the price we paid, there are better options in Chiang Mai that offer a more comfortable experience.

Highlight: The Restaurant

The on-site restaurant was a standout. We enjoyed the daily breakfast (included with our stay), afternoon tea, and room service. The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. If you’re looking for a high-end dining experience, I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

While the staff was kind and accommodating, the sewage issue, thin walls, and worn-out rooms made for a less-than-ideal stay.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the dining experience at our on-site restaurant and found our staff kind and accommodating. Your compliments regarding the exceptional food and service have been shared with our restaurant team, and they are thrilled to know their efforts stood out during your stay. I have deleted my previous review as it was not complete when published.

Due to flight issues we needed to stay in Chaing Mai for one night.

On arrival c.10.00 our room was not ready but after saying good bye to the transfer people who brought us from the airport, had the welcome drink and checked in the room was ready.

The first hour here, which was not in anyway the hotels fault, was trying to resolve why our 4 hour drive to the north needed to start at 04.00. We could not get through to the agents so my wife went to reception. Staff on the desk called the agents and we had conformation that our pick would be at 09.00. That's better and now we could enjoy the rest of our stay.

We had a ground floor room and this was large. All that you would need, with a large bathroom with bath, separate shower and twin wash basins etc. There was a mini bar with a variety of refreshments. Being their only one night we did not need all the room had available.

Outside there was seating area, a reasonably sized pool, although this was shaded so probably a bit on the cool side, and then a further seating area. A gate also accessed the hotels grounds.

Upper story rooms do over look part of the outside area of the room but people did not arrive until later afternoon. There is also a roof top pool area.

I would have added some photos but the very poor trip advisor system only allowed me one photo, sorry hotel, trip advisor issue

On arrival we were advised that there was a wedding and the Oxygen Restaurant was not available for evening meals or breakfast. The hotel does offer events and its a lottery if you have one during your stay.

We had lunch outside at the Oxygen. Very nice meal and great, friendly service. The view is across lawn to the river (plus an Asian Barred Owlet).

In the later afternoon I went back and got some drinks from the Oxygen which it took me some persuasion to stop the staff carrying them back to the room. Perpetrations for the wedding did not cause us any issues.

We decide on our evening meal in the room, although we could see that meals were being served in the Oxygen in to the early evening.

Room service was very efficient, again very nice people and excellent food.

The wedding did not cause us any disturbance whatsoever.

In the morning breakfast was at the Library Bar. We chose outside but there are table inside as well, and it had the general sort of situation with cold buffet and a menu order for hot food. At the time of year just slightly cool so you might need a bit of extra clothing. There was a musical accompaniment with a guitar and a young lady singing. All very nice but just slightly too loud for what should have been background music.

The breakfast was absolutely fine and at 08.45 we were at the reception for out next stage.

Service, room condition, breakfast, facilities, etc. were all excellent. I plan to come again next time. The swimming pool is very beautiful, so I hope everyone goes there. Although the location is a little far from the city center, you can enjoy a quiet and leisurely atmosphere. Since taxis are easily available, there is no inconvenience in sightseeing. All the staff were friendly and I felt good during my stay. The room was cleaned well and the air conditioner worked well. I haven't seen many bugs either. This is a beautiful hotel in nature.

A hotel with a sense of design and first-class service
The entire resort is made of red tiles and faces the river.
The service of the hotel staff is very attentive. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly greeted by the concierge.
Welcome drinks include tamarind juice and coconut ice cream
Stay for two nights and get a 600 baht dining credit and an additional bartending coupon
Vouchers can also be used to redeem room service
The room is small and has no bathroom, but the overall design is clean and novel
We checked in during the rainy season and the room was very humid, but the housekeeping staff immediately provided us with a dehumidifier. The service was very considerate.

The outdoor infinity pool is very beautiful and well designed
Breakfast is also very rich
Overall, it is a very cost-effective resort.

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. Check-in was easy and they offer a peach tamarind drink (the history of the building was that it used to be a tamarind plantation before a restaurant and then conversion to the hotel) and coconut ice cream. We stayed 4 nights and used the pool once since it rained most of our stay or we had excursions. The pool is large and has a shallow end if you don’t want to get too wet. They had a few floaties. They are comfortable day beds in shade. The staff are all very kind and attentive. The room was spacious and was decorated to celebrate our anniversary.

We enjoyed the breakfast offerings and the staff always greeted you with a smile and tried to remember your preferences for tea/coffee the day prior. Special shout out to Nest, View, Kwanjit, Yayee and the trainees working during the 4 days we had breakfast. We sampled the Thai sampler breakfast which comes in a tiered display with toast bites and pandan custard, Milk tea custard, two sizeable skewers, the Thai sausage (lemongrass and other herbs), Vietnamese sausage. We thought the congee was really great consistency, salt and flavor profile, with fresh ginger, fried noodle topping and your choice of fish (fresh), pork balls or chicken balls. I think fish was the best. We also had the English breakfast another day, the eggs Benedict, khao soi and Vietnamese noodle soup. They also have some fresh fruit, juices, salad and 4 hot options in addition to a soup on the buffet (other than ordering a la carte). I enjoyed the morning they had the shrimp wrapped in a wonton best, but there was also a morning where they had stir fried noodles, spring rolls (which could be crispier). I tried the purple colored sweet potato soup which was actually quite savory and reminded me of a chowder.

We also had the afternoon tea which comes with a variety of finger sandwiches, desserts and pastries. They also provided a welcome box of sweets in the room one evening and a sort of rice-krispie looking treat.

Kevin checked us out and also helped us with changing our large bill to smaller bills to use at the night market.

Very nice quiet hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the old city. The WiFi was a little laggy on two days (had to re-log in with the WiFi password they provide on a laminated slip) but other than that, no issues.

Remember to tip the housekeeping staff and dining staff on the last day… it goes a long way and they deserve it.

Good service : chocolates with names printed on them were given upon check-in (when we came back for the second time, the chocolates had "welcome back" written on them), and juice and coconut sorbet were immediately given. There is a welcome dessert in the room when you check in (the macarons are amazing). Cleaned twice a day.

Good environment : not big, but every step brings you a view. The tamarind tree in the atrium, the restaurant facing the Mei Ping River, is illuminated every night. From the rooftop swimming pool, you can see the small town of Chiang Mai and the distant mountain peaks. Watching the sunset set, I often feel so happy.

The catering is good: Breakfast is a la carte, a combination of Western and Thai styles. Breakfast is very delicious! At least it’s 150 yuan per capita for brunch in Shanghai! The Benedict egg is very delicious, the pancake and waffles are delicious and not greasy, and all kinds of rice and rice noodles are also delicious, there is no one that is not delicious! The restaurant where breakfast is served is a Michelin restaurant, and the taste is very appropriate. We basically don't need to have lunch. You can also order a variety of coffee, tea and sparkling wine for breakfast, which is very happy.

The spa is good: The spa plus the service fee is not cheap, but after the discount, the price is not much different from that of Cheeva. But it’s so wonderful! Personally, I feel that it is close to the level of the spa room at Mandarin Oriental. It can massage small muscle groups and is very comfortable. The environment is also good~

High value for money: The price of 1,000 yuan may not be low in Chiang Mai, but you will get some cocktail coupons and restaurant discounts when you check in. Because the restaurant price itself is not expensive (the chang beer probably does not include service charges) at 130 baht, the voucher for every 2-3 nights is enough for two people to have a simple meal and wine. We spent two nights drinking two bottles of wine each by the pool, blowing in the evening breeze. I can't say how comfortable it was.

After 2019, my wife and I spent another four nights at the Cross Chiang Mai Riverside this February. We particularly like its tranquil location on the Ping River, its very modern architecture, its modern, luxuriously appointed rooms, the service, and its 'Oxygen' Dining Room, housed in a glass house in the garden, which must be unparalleled in the region: To get the most comprehensive impression of his fusion Thai cuisine, we chose the Luxury Experience Menu, and it was a real delight. Each course was a small work of art, and the wine served with each was an excellent match. If only this restaurant were close to where we live!

Dear 244andyf, Thank you for your interest. We would delighted to assist you. *One of our in-room channels True premier will be streaming live the premier league football. *We would allow for 10 minutes to the 3 Kings monument and a few minutes less than that to the Night bazaar area. We do have a shuttle a few times a day into the old city area, however, GRAB taxi is incredibly reasonable and very frequent. *Our guests usually prefer the following golfing courses: 1) Chiang Mai Highland, 60 mins from X2 in the Sankanpang area. 2)) Alpine, 45 mins from X2 in the Sankampang area, it is new and beautiful views. 3) Summit Green Valley, 30 mins from X2 (there are many ponds). Please feel free to contact us for more information. Regards, X2@CMR team!
