Nestled in the heart of the city, the Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel is a favorite for many due to its central location close to the night market and abundance of dining options. Guests have lauded the hotel for its recently updated amenities, culturally infused atmosphere, and panoramic views from the well-maintained rooms.
While the service receives high marks for professionalism and attentiveness, some guests feel the room sizes and breakfast selection do not fully justify the pricing. Despite this, the hotel's overall cleanliness and modern charm continue to impress travelers.

This hotel has just recently been renovated and rebranded from a Le Meridien to a Marriott. We stayed 3 nights in what they call a larger corner room. Arrival/check in: 9/10 (friendly, attentive and helpful staff, and luggage dispatched correctly and promptly to room) Room: 9/10 (a good sized, well laid out, and freshly renovated room, with a lovely bathroom. Sufficient complimentary bottled water provided. Provision of a coffee pod machine or coffee bags though would have been appreciated and the daily toothpaste provision was unfortunately insufficient for 2 guests brushing twice daily each) Location: 9/10 (a city-type hotel rather than a resort that is excellently convenient to night markets and restaurants, though a bit of night noise until the markets close and the street band stops playing) Breakfast buffet: 6/10 (an average buffet that is fine but really does not stand out in terms of variety or quality when compared to other hotels of this level.) Pool: 2/10 (a wonderful view of the mountains, but unfortunately the pool is way too small and way too cold. They really really need to invest in a decent pool warming system, and also in a separate heated jacuzzi type add on. Housekeeping: 10/10 (friendly, quick and correct/competent) Overall customer service (9/10) all staff that we dealt with were very friendly, attentive, helpful, and competent/knowledgeable. Would I stay here again? (yes, in the cool season like now, although in the summer season I would want a hotel with a much better pool. I notice also that since the rebranding to marriott that they have significantly increased their prices by around 35% plus, which puts them much closer to Intercontinental or Shangri La prices here in Chiang Mai)

I usually stay in a guesthouse in Chiang mai but my usual place was not available so I stayed one night at the Marriott. As a frequent visitor to Chiang mai I am not a fan of the night bazaar area, it is rather touristy, but it is not a bad location for first time visitors. The hotel has been extensively renovated and is looking good. Being a Marriott expect lots of beige. I like the many references to Lanna culture in the design. The renovation of the pool area is excellent. I was eventually upgraded to suite in recognition of Titanium status. This required some prompting and was not immediately offered. The lounge is adequate with good views of Doi Suthep. The man making the cocktails on November 30 would benefit from some further training on guest focus and etiquette. I asked for a cola and was told brusquely to get it myself. He was not busy at the time. The bed was very comfortable. There was very loud music with thumping base heard in the room until 1 am. The staff said this is a daily problem and offered a move to a room on the other side of the hotel. Since it was late I declined the move. If you want uninterrupted sleep I suggest you refuse any room on the night market side of the hotel. Breakfast in the lounge and the Ping Restaurant are both excellent. Overall this hotel is a great option for a stay in Chiang mai.

Our family had a pleasant stay here in general. The hotel is newly renovated and clean with a nice welcoming scent at the lobby. We had booked a connecting suite and twin room. The suite was large and the highlight was the huge bath overlooking the mountain view.
Housekeeping was great and did a good job everyday in cleaning the rooms. All the staff were helpful, friendly, and greeted us.
Need to highlight some hiccups though: - Check-in took awhile as the amount in the Bonvoy app did not tally with the interim bill. - We had to wait awhile when we arrived at 3pm as the suite was not ready
F&B also needs to be improved greatly: - We had requested for a halal breakfast. F & B helped to prepare this every morning to be sent to the room. The first two days of our stay, our breakfast box and meal (fried rice) was not on time and we had to call to hurry them as we were going out for a morning tour. Understand that the hotel was at full capacity these few dates - On the second-last morning of our stay, we were sent 2 breakfast sets of chicken sausage instead of for 4 pax. We let this go as we were already late for the morning activity - However on the last morning, they came by with only 1 set (chicken sausage again). This was really unacceptable and we asked for the other meals on the spot. The kitchen took some time to prepare the other 3 sets. Luckily we were not in a rush to go anywhere and could wait
So while we were grateful that the hotel could accommodate our dietary request, the communications and operations really has to be improved. Our room rate comes with breakfast for 4 people and to get a lesser amount each day is not up to standard. We would also have appreciated a different variety of breakfast each day. We felt that we did not get enough value for the breakfast rate we were paying.
The saving grace was the M lounge. The tea-break / dinner service in the lounge was generally good and the halal food was labelled. We generally had a good time whenever we used the lounge to relax.
Would we stay again? Maybe, as the location and facilities were really top-notch but the F&B ops has to be seamless to ensure that the guests have a pleasant experience.

The Chiang Mai Marriott offered a decent stay, though it left much to be desired. The room itself (Executive Suite) was a highlight, spacious and featuring comfortable seating and a stunning view of the mountains. The location was also excellent, being centrally located and convenient for exploring the city. Breakfast was a standout on one of the mornings, offering a vast and varied selection, and the food at Favola was enjoyable. The hotel was quiet, with good water pressure in the bathroom and powerful air conditioning, all of which contributed to a comfortable environment.
However, the property as a whole felt tired and in need of a refresh. The bathtub, made of cheap fiberglass, creaked alarmingly when filled with water. Housekeeping was inconsistent and often late, and despite requesting a mattress pad, it was never delivered. There was no turndown service, and the overall lack of attentive service made the experience feel impersonal. The executive lounge was particularly disappointing, with food gone by 8 PM and little effort to replenish or accommodate guests.
One of the most frustrating moments was the handling of our car service. Despite confirming the timing with the front desk on the morning of departure, it wasn’t arranged as planned. Over our objections, the staff insisted we leave the hotel extremely early, and we arrived at the airport so far ahead of schedule that we couldn’t even check our bags. The lack of service training among the staff was evident throughout the stay, as interactions lacked the polish and warmth one would expect from a Marriott property.
While the Chiang Mai Marriott offered a comfortable room and a convenient location, the lack of attention to detail and service significantly detracted from the overall experience. It’s a fine place to stay for its location and amenities, but don’t expect the level of service typically associated with the brand.

Dear DrewP988, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience you experienced. I appreciate your kind acknowledgment of the hotel’s product and location. We are proud to usually receive excellent feedback about our associates; however, in this instance, we clearly fell short of delivering the standard of service you rightfully expect from us. I share your disappointment and have discussed your feedback with the team, who are equally regretful about the lapse. Regarding the airport transfer, I have investigated the matter thoroughly. Upon your arrival, an approximate departure time of noon was communicated, and it was mentioned that you would confirm the exact time later. On the departure day, at around 1:30 PM, you requested an airport transfer. While the duty manager promptly arranged a car, and the vehicle arrived at 1:50 PM. Additionally, I understand you requested the same car model (Mercedes) for your departure as was used upon arrival. Unfortunately, the Mercedes was not available, and the team initially arranged a standard limousine (Honda CR-V). Upon your dissatisfaction, team upgraded the vehicle to a premium limousine (Majestic) at no extra charge. I regret any confusion caused during this process, including the lack of clarity about your preferred departure time, which contributed to your dissatisfaction. I have addressed your feedback with resolutions earlier through other channels, if there is anything I may have overlooked or if you wish to discuss further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I sincerely hope you will consider this an isolated incident and allow us another opportunity to serve you in the future. Should your travel plans bring you back to Chiang Mai, please let me know. I will personally ensure your stay is memorable for all the right reasons. Sincerely, KULDEEP BISHT Executive Assistant Manager Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel kuldeep.bisht@marriott.com

I just completed a 2 day stay and have to tell you, when the renovations will be completed, the new Marriott Chiang Mai will be beautiful. Yes, the hotel is being rebranded and going through a complete renovation from top to bottom. Everything is changing and for the better. As such, expect some minor inconveniences during the renovations, but the service of the staff makes all the difference in providing an excellant stay.
I was upgraded to a renovated suite on a renovated floor, and when I stepped off the elevator, I was amazed. The new hallway lightening and decor is warm and welcoming. They even padded under the hallway carpet to reduce noise. I opened the door to my suite and was very surprised. I have stay countless times in LeMeridien Chiang Mai’s suites, and yet, I was still impressed. The old furniture has been replaced along with new decorations. The old sofa couch has been replaced with a day bed and there is even new window couches in the bedroom. The mattresses are brand new along with new pillows. You will not have a problem with finding an electrical outlet and usb charging ports are everywhere including the bathroom. The carpeting has been removed and replaced by a laminated floor. There are small permeant rugs by your bedside to help with your footing getting in and out of bed.
The Club Lounge is still closed for renovations, and since Latest Receipe is closed for renovation, the temporary lounge is on the 2nd floor in a private room connected to Favola restaurant. This area is open for the evening reception form 6-8pm and for breakfast. You should not miss the evening reception. Even though this is a temporary location, it is one of the best club lounges in Thailand. One night the main dish was whole roasted chickens. The chef would carve your choice in front of you with accompanying baby roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables. The pizza comes straight out of Favola’s oven and they even have fresh baked bread you can toast! The club’s complimentary spirits are a good selection of call brand and they even have Kailua on the menu.
My stay was over way too soon, but before I left, I saw the artist rendition of the renovated features of new Marriott. When this is completed, the new Marriott Chiang Mai will be the new jewel in this beautiful city.

Stayed 5 nights in one of the newly renovated rooms. As a Titanium elite member I tried to redeem suite night awards, however 3 days before arrival I received an email saying the suite upgrade would not be available, even though the website still showed two suites available for the full duration of the stay; disappointing as the SNAs are supposed to be 'checked' every day until arrival, not rejected 3 days in advance. The rooms are very pretty, in an asian contemporary style, but they have two design flaws. First, there is a large window from the bathroom into the bedroom. It has a shade, but the shade is not a blackout shade, and the very bright bathroom lights are all on one switch, so if someone turns on the bathroom light during the night, the entire bedroom lights up like the Las Vegas strip! The other design flaw is the large sofa is so deep that it is hard to reach over it to close the window shade. There is also very little storage, i.e. no dresser or drawers. Breakfast was very good, although all of the 'hot' dishes were at room temperature (the chafing dishes were only being warmed by an individual tint tea candle each). Due to the renovations ongoing, the lounge was relocated to a very large, windowless room off the restaurant, and was packed to the gills as there was no one checking who had access so the whole hotel was showing up for the free food and drinks, and the chefs had trouble keeping the buffet items in stock. On the plus side, the location is ideal; right next to the night markets with amazing street food! A special thanks to TK who met us at the airport and gave us some great suggestions, as well as Fah in the club lounge! BTW, if you need to have laundry done during your trip, there is an excellent laundry shop just across the street that charges only about $1 per kilo for wash & fold!

Response from Le Meridien Chiang Mai, General Manager at Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel
The Chiang Mai Marriott is an excellent choice for anyone visiting this charming city. The location is fantastic, with many of the main attractions within walking distance, making it super convenient to explore without the need for transportation.
The rooms were very comfortable, offering a relaxing retreat after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast buffet was another highlight, with plenty of options catering to a variety of tastes—perfect for anyone seeking a different flavor or trying something new.
The building itself is in great condition and impeccably clean, reflecting the high standards you’d expect from a Marriott property. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay.
If you’re a Marriott fan, you won’t be disappointed staying here. It’s everything you’d expect from the brand—comfort, quality, and excellent service—right in the heart of Chiang Mai. Highly recommend!

Certainly, the price of the rooms is not "given" (including for a tourist), but the hotel is well located (night market, and not far from the central tourist "square", not far from the Ping river ( boat trips), Perfect welcome +++ ("Ging") both at the airport and at the hotel, as well as each member of staff throughout the stay. Super comfortable rooms, with welcoming words and welcoming decorations, which change every day +++ Restaurant, Italian only (probably because of the work), where everything is "good" (don't miss the tiramitsu). Small downside, breakfast, the buffet dishes have difficulty keeping hot (lukewarm to cold). Massages (SPA) very good!!!

Let me start out with this first, I typically don't write reviews (this is my third). I am also well-travelled (Lifetime Titanium Marriott member) so, I have experienced many Marriott properties. This property is one of the best that i have ever experienced.
From the time the Concierge (Boyce) picked me and my wife up from the airport, we knew this would be a special trip. We were treated very well and the check-in process was very smooth. Everybody, and i do mean everybody in the hotel greeted us cheerfully as we were family.
The accomdations are world class and the cleaning staff is some of the most motiviated to please that I have ever experienced.
We were here for the Loy Krathong Festival which is the busiest time of the year for Chiang Mai in terms of tourists. The staff helped us navigate getting a taxi to any given location. The festival was amazing and it was wonderful to take part.
Special care was given to us to accomodate a late night flight back to the United States and we greatly appreciated.
i would highly recommend this hotel because the overall experience was life changing. I left we a new sense of enlightenment. Thanks all - Joe Milligan

I want to share with you all that this hotel has been recently renovated and has had the hotel name change from Le Meridien to Marriott.
Plus, its a fantastic hotel with amazing service and location.
If you can source out the man at the concierge called 'J', yes that's right, the letter, you will be rewarded with outstanding knowledge about the area, things to do and see and how to get there.
We booked to see the elephants (Maerim Elephant Home) and travelled by private 4WD. The driver was amazing, helpful and safe. In fact we booked him again the following day and to the airport as well.
The hotel is delightful, peaceful and the rooms are typical of a 5 star hotel.
The location is close to the bazaar and night markets are all within walking distance.
You will see from my reviews I can be harsh if need be, but I cannot fault the hotel. It is a little bit more in price than some hotels there but, it is worth it. 'Clean and Care Laundry Service'.
Starbucks across the road, Maccas is opposite on the corner but I suggest to eat at local Thai places. There is a laundry service I would recommend... at the front of the hotel, turn right, go across the bridge and turn first left. Its just past the first massage place. It is clean and well priced.
Down the street from the laundry place there are a number of massage places. Not the family type if you get my hint. They are cheap. About $30 for an hour. Expect a full massage ;-) Ordinary massages are $12 for an hour.
Enjoy!

Hello Kosuke,
The swimming pool was reopen from 1 September 2023 onwards, hopefully we can welcome you at our newly renovated pool and our new pool bar "Pool House"
Yes they do. During my stay (I am a Titanium member), I get free breakfast for 2 plus 2 more guests; the lounge was under renovation so they carved out a section in the breakfast area for the members (not as nice and comfortable as expected) so hopefully the lounge is done by now.
There are more places to choose from in the Chiang Mai area.
