This hostel I found disgusting, excpecially when there are so many others nearby to choose from. I booked in advance as arrived on a late flight and first time to BKK however the welcome was pretty terrible. First of all I booked on their website for their ''current special" but when we arrived they said the price was higher. They...

My husband and I stayed here on the first few days of an almost month long back packing trek throughout Thailand. We chose the pricier of the rooms, still very cheap. It was clean, no bed bugs. It also has air conditioning. It's definitely a no frills place and my husband wasn't too fond of the bathroom; he didn't like...

Pros: the location is great: close to a Chao Phraya pier allows you to move quickly along the river. It is also very near Khao San Roan but in more quiet place. In fact our room was really quite. It is also cheap (525baht/night with A/A) and have a good staff. Cons: the room is very small and the sheets...

I love Bangkok and I love this guesthouse. I've been travelling for seven months now and everyone I've recommended it to has also loved staying here. The location is great (for backpackers!) the rooms are spotless and cleaned daily if you request so, en-suites are decent, air-con excellent, not too noisy, a nice bar/restaurant downstairs, and really great staff who...

We stayed at Happy house for 3 nights and it was a great place to see. A short walk to the Khao San Road, and just off Soi Rambuttri which has lots of bars and food stalls, it's located in a quiet street giving you a bit of tranquility amongst the madness of this area. The rooms were discounted to...

I enjoyed my stay at this inn. The rooms were as pictured on the internet and the breakfast was breakfast, lunch, and dinner rolled into one buffet. At breakfast, you had everything from egg and pancakes to chicken and fried rice. The staff was also very helpful. The location is a little distance from the main sites and the area...

We ended up at Happy House after a bad experience at a Sawasdee Hotel (if you could call it that!) round the corner. We had come across Happy House on previous days for beers and food and returned because we liked the food, service and found it a really relaxing place to watch the world go by for a few...

We stayed at Happy House Guest House for five nights recently and were very pleased. It's one of the only guesthouses where we didn't see any bugs in the room! The room was small but had lovely decoration and a set of shelves which was a nice touch. The downstairs restaurant offers a good variety and the staff are kind...

We arrived in Bangkok late in the evening and found this guesthouse down a quiet alley off Khao San Road. The rooms are clean, and offer air-con or fan, we opted for the high end room with air-con, private bath, two beds , hot shower for the low price of $500 baht a night! Less than $15 US dollars,,,,a great...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.

“We stayed in two rooms. 316 had a window that opened to an internal hallway (kind of creepy for a couple of women traveling together and continuous light from the hallway in your room) and 314 had an outside window which was much nicer (natural light) and not so easy to break into your room.”
