The staff is very friendly and helpfull, the facilities are clean and well maintained, the price is reasonable, the location is simply perfect (close to the river and Khao San, but not too busy). But you really should take a superior room. Still cheap compared to other B&B on Khao San. You also have free Wifi in the hall, wake...

It's a nice, clean and not expensive location in Bangkok. Rooms small, with o without windows, hot shower and air-con. We spent 2 nights at 690bht per night. In the hall there is a nice restaurant, with Wi-Fi, where you can spent some time in a quiet atmosphere.

I had a nice experience at Happy House. I'm female and traveling alone, I felt safe, and HH is just across from boat pier 13 with easy access all up and down the river, across from a really good cheap massage place, on a fantastic quaint side street from Khoa San Rd with it's own street vendors (cheaper prices too)...

I have been there in 2006 and it was fine. Now that i returned in sept 2011: still good, and the hotel has extended since. Staff friendly, acceptable restaurant, free wifi in the lobby only (you have to pay for wifi if you go to nearby wild orchid GH). I took a single room with AC and private bathroom: 490...

My friend and I stayed at Happy House for one night. Its has a really good location - close to Khao San Rd., on a quiet neighboring lane off of Rambuttri. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and had A/C and hot water. All and all, a good experience!

I stayed here for 3 or 4 nights in Jan 2011. My room was a tiny windowless cell. The room had a bed, TV, bathroom, AC and that was all. No room for anything else. There was no wifi reception in the room either. Actually I didn't mind because I was traveling alone and I didn't go to Thailand to...

Been to Khao San Road area countless times. Do not compare this to am expensive hotel... That said, for the cash, believe it's best deal in the area. I always take a 350B single with air con. Use shared bathroom as they have 3 and don't spend much time there anyways. If sick, upgrade. Has a chill restaurant lounge in...

I stayed at Happy House in October and November 2009 and it was great! Good service, efficient staff and good food. I returned to Thailand in February 2011 and because of my previous experience decided to stay at Happy House a third time..... Unfortunatly I am truely disappointed! Despite numerous emails confirming our arrival (including emails from Happy House to...

I loved the location of this place - in a little alley of Soi Rambuttri (which is groovy!), which is a stones throw from Khao San Rd, but well away from the madness. Now i've spent a fair bit of time in Bangkok, and i've found that you either pay a little (around US$12-15) for a total dump, or a...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.

“We stayed in two rooms. 316 had a window that opened to an internal hallway (kind of creepy for a couple of women traveling together and continuous light from the hallway in your room) and 314 had an outside window which was much nicer (natural light) and not so easy to break into your room.”
