This was a very nice, relaxed and peaceful hotel, with big and clean rooms and very welcoming staff. I have nothing negative to say about the hotel except from the booking process from TripAdvisor. This was not a good way to do it, they promised breakfast included but it wasn't after all. The service division of TripAdvisor was not very...

A great shanghai themed hotel. The decor of the hotel sets the theme perfectly! Jazz played nightly in the front bar/restaurant was a great way to start each night with their interesting twist on cocktails.

This hotel is pretty far from its closes BTS. If you are traveling to Bangkok for the very first time, find a hotel that's within walking distance of BTS. That's the cheapest and most convenient way to get to anywhere (Sukhumvit, etc). Save yourself the trouble of finding a taxi and haggling with taxi drivers. Most will try to rip...

The hotel and rooms are beautifully appointed, very comfortable with wonderful amenities. There's a nice street front bar with jazz in the evenings great for people watching in comfort at the end of the day. You're located in the heart of China town around the corner from great street food and across the street from a large market. There is...

You Carnot believe what you step into from the streets of bustling Chinatown! This hotel is a little gem and cannot recommend highly enough. I always stay in the plush skyscrapers when visiting bangkok, but not anymore I will definitely be returning to this hotel. FANTASTIC!!!

Perfect oasis in the middle of hectic Chinatown. Clean rooms, great bar downstairs, everything was very pretty and well maintained. Quaint and boutique. Good selection at breakfast, good restaurant downstairs. Would reccommend.

I stayed here in 2016 and was blown away by everything. This year the standards seem to have slipped a little. We were offered a very attractive reduced price package by the hotel direct so returned without hesitation. Reception staff were good but didn't seem as interested this year, rooms were good but then last year we had a superior...

We had a very nice stay at Shanghai Mansion. $1-2 tuk tuk ride away from the big sights. Room was basic but comfortable, big shower. Internet was very slow, which was a bummer. The breakfast was generous and comfortable, which was a real highlight. Very quiet rooms which come with bathrobes and slippers. Spa was nice and they have a...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
