Stayed here 6 times now, always a beautiful and elegant and relaxing place to stay with a good location in busy Chinatown but easy to reach tourist spots by MRT or by boat both only 10mins walk away. Rooms on second floor are stunning and have shower bathtub and king-size bed. Staff are always friendly and smiling and are warm...

The room was clean and the location is great (it's in the middle of Chinatown with a lot of dining options nearby). The only negative is that the people at the reception could be friendlier. Seemed like we were bothering them when requesting something. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

Having stayed at Shanghai Mansion 4 times, I would say that this will be my last visit, the hotel has been taken over by the Burasari Group and the sparkle of the hotel is not the same. Firstly breakfast used to be buffet style, however the cooked breakfast is now cooked to order, however due to the change in 90%...

Great location in China town just a footstep away from the colours, sounds and tastes of Bangkok's incredible street food and topsy turvy atmosphere. The hotel also have very helpful and friendly staff and the rooms are blissfully quiet. Great stay and would gladly come back again.

This hotel is very Chinese in flavour but it is most convenient to Yaowarang Rd where Thais flock to buy gold. The hotel is quiet and well appointed and the rooms are spacious. The staff are friendly but English is not their strong suit.Nevertheless I would choose to stay there again.

This hotel was awesome from the comfortable room to the great choice of breakfast. The staff make you feel very welcome and often had great chats with some of the girls at the front desk. The hotel is located in the heart of China Town and there is plenty of choice for food all around the hotel. Close to the...

Dear Bradley P, Thank you for your kind comments. I am sorry to hear the noise level was disturbing to you. We are in the center of a busy nighbourhood, although we do take every precaution to mitigate any extraneous noise, and most guests agree that the interior of the hotel is quiet tranquil. Our jazz bar closes promptly at...

A "whaw" entering the hotel . It is so wonderfull decorated . But than ..... The room again impressive , but not so praticable . Like no good light on the tiny working table. Toilet in a strange position and difficult to get in . Than the restaurants where we had a diner..... nice but the food and the plates...

Dear JanWillemHolland, I am sorry to hear about your experience and apologise for any shortcoming on our part. We have addressed the shortage of staff and service delivery during breakfast, and I believe the issues are now under control. Our F&B Manager was doing a food tasting, and immediately ceased when he heard about your complaint of the long wait...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was just perfect. The "Chinese chic" decor is immaculate throughout and the rooms are fabulous. We had a Mu Dan suite on 2nd floor with a beautiful rectangular fish pond outside on the landing. Breakfast is in a gorgeous Chinese/colonial style room on 3rd floor. There's a restaurant and...

Location is right in the heart of Chinatown. The river is around a 15 min walk from the hotel which means that you have access to the frequent tourist boats which operate a jump on and off day ticket (approx £3) which is a great way to get around & see the sights. Now, back to the hotel itself. The...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
