Perfect! As good as Bangkok gets. 20+ trips to Thailand and this guest house at the end of a 6 week trip. We absolutely loved it. Great location, an easy walk from Khao San and Rambuttri Rds almost on the river and flower market river jetty, so it's easy to get everywhere. A nice " local" style st, clean, no...

I stayed in the hostel the days after i arrived for the first time in Bangkok. It is not the cheapest one, but it is like a oasis in the big City where you really can relax after the stressful flight or Start exploring the City. It just takes around 15-20 Minuten walking to the Main part oft the City...

My 17 year old daughter and I spent 2 nights at shanti lodge at the beginning of our first ever trip to Thailand. We arrived on the later side and after slight confusion around the specifics of our booking, we were shown to our ground floor room with private shower. I loved the room/ though it was very basic and...

Arrived at the Shanti Lodge with my family of 5 after an overnight flight, and neither of the rooms we booked were available. We reserved 2 specific rooms months in advance (the garden suite and a triple room) with all of the required website and email confirmations (and a reconfirmation by phone with someone who spoke perfect English and email...

this place seems pretty nice..they've got a cafe and chill music, and the staff was friendly and helpful, which is why I give them a 2 rating.. BUT while laying in the bed, I got bit! at first, thought mosquitoes so got under the blanket to shield myself...wrong!! I got bit several more times! it was BEDBUGS! I caught and...

We stayed in a budget double room. On arrival the staff were really friendly and welcoming which is always bliss after a long day travelling. The entry to hotel is really quirky and the decor really funky. The room itself is budget but has a bed air con and a fan so can't complain. The only annoying thing was the...

My biggest fear came true. I woke up in the middle of the night with a huge roach crawling up my arm! I know it's Bangkok, but why was it in a guesthouse where the rooms should be "clean". Just unlucky for me I guess. Location was good, friendly staff. Wifi was poor & the locks on the door were...

We spent two nights here and found it to be pretty good. As it was our first time in Bangkok it was nice to have the restaurant downstairs with decent food although we soon learned that you can get much cheaper food elsewhere but this seems to be the norm with guesthouses. Great ambiance in the restaurant. Room was quiet...

As you arrive at Shanti lodge the first impressions are amazing; Really beautiful tree cascading branches down the front of the restaurant/building; Pretty very authentically decorated restaurant/bar area, Greeted by staff and they seemed friendly. Shown up to room... room very rundown and not particularly clean although the air conditioning made up in part for this- worked very well, as...

Staying in Dusit

Neighbourhood Profile
Dusit
When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.
