What a wonderful place to stay. We spent 4 nights in this fairy tale place. Nothing to see with huge hotels. Chakrabongse Villas is a villas hotel boarding the Chao Praya River with a stunning view over the Wat Arun Temple and near the night market and the Royal Palace. The rooms are very comfortable and the service outstanding. Special...

This is one of the best kept secrets of Bangkok. The Villas are right on the river and just across from Wat Pho tucked away is a royal garden. This is one of the finest places to stay in all of Bangkok. It is not a large hotel with shopping malls and marble lobby but it is a beautiful setting...

It was faultless, accommodation, service, food, everything. Breakfast was served on our patio and the pool during the day was deserted. Dinner on the terrace overlooking the...

We have not stayed at this beautiful hotel..but we have visited and had some truly beautiful meals. One feels like a visitor at a Thai Prince's home by the river. Around 1920-1930's. we had tea by the pool, it was so relaxing. Another time we had lunch and bought some books about Thailand at the book shop there. There is...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
