Tavee and it's sister accommodation Sri Auyttaya have the same owner and same format: spotlessly clean bathrooms and common areas, funky decor, comfortable rooms. I stayed in both a fan and an AC room - both were very clean but since it was my first day in Bangkok the fan room was too hot for me. The AC room is...

Stayed here for two days and had stayed here several times before and we actually liked the setting and staff and food. But now backpacker atmosphere had gone (read dull and boring). The staff at the front lobby whre you can have dinner and breakfast was sometimes incredibly slow and rude to the guests. Quality of the food was not...

Our stay at Tavee was very pleasant during these 3 nice days! The location is very good I would even say excellent for Bangkok as a noisy capital! The owners are responsive and friendly, happy to assist when required! Even when i needed to iron my dress just before going out they found an iron for me! The breakfast was...

We stayed 3 nights in this guest house, situated not very far from animated Kaosan road, and the main monuments of center ! GH is very clean, the room also, excellent quality taking into account the low price ! Except the smell in the bathroom when you turn on ventilator (humidity ...) Breakfast is excellent, service is super ... Nothing...

Overall I'm really glad we picked this neighborhood - this area has a small backpacker community but definitely more off the beaten path. A good area to stay for visiting the historic area as there is a water taxi stop close by. we actually walked but it did take a while. Not easy to access the more modern areas of...

If you're like me and you are/were looking to stay outside of the nonsense of Khao San road and remain on a budget, then I dare you to do better than the Tavee Guest house. Let's start with the location. A 10 minute walk though an interesting fish market to the Thewes Pier stop on the water taxi. That being...

I stayed at Tavee Guesthouse at the beginning of September 2012. I had booked a room (Fan/Shared bathroom) before I arrived via e-mail. The staff at Tavee responded promptly and were very informative even before my arrival. The guesthouse itself was clean, comfortable, and quite beautiful. The shared toilets were the cleanest I have ever experienced. In my room they...

The guest house is nice looking, terrace with orchids, really gorgeous shared bathrooms, bedroom was nice too with big bed but thought a fan would do, which was our mistake, really hot at night (teak wood I guess doesn't help) The negative sides are that you hear people talking in the other bedrooms, morning is worst, you hear people laughing,...

This guesthouse is located quite near Kosan road (20 min walking) and in a quite area of Bankok. The room we took was with air conditioned and fan and was 700 bath, quite good price for Bankok, but the most expensive we had in Thailand. The room was nice and also the little garder at the entrance. It's quite a...

Singles are 350-500 B. Head to the back of the place down the alley, which is quieter anyway for the 350 private rooms with shared bath. The bathrooms are great and the rooms are not bad either for the price. No a/c at tht price, but there is a fan, which works for me. I use to always stay at...

Staying in Dusit

Neighbourhood Profile
Dusit
When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.
