After a long walk through Chinatown, the front patio was perfect! Though the people watching was quite nice, cold beer was the only reason we stopped. No other places were closer to Chinatown so definitely stop in to get off your feet for a few.

Visited this place New Year's Day on a walk through china town the place looked full with English people so we assumed that was a good sign..... Definitely not the case the staff seemed very moody not half as friendly as our experience with hotels restaurants and the people we had met in Bangkok. I ordered a portion of vegetable...

Looked busy on the outside so we gave it a try - big mistake. To begin with the meals came about 10 minutes apart which is not too uncommon and completely forgivable. My pad Thai was just stodgy noodles and very unappetising. My partner had something with a blackbean sauce which was equally as poor. I would not recommend this...

I had lunch here with my friend. The food was great, just quite expensive compare to some restaurant beside, and the waitress was not so friendly. We had to call her 4 times to get her attention. Try green curry rice, spicy and great

Chinatown Hotel We selected this hotel because of its proximity to the railway station as we were arriving in Bangkok by train from Hua Hin and leaving again the next morning by train for Chiang Mai . Despite the short “as the crow flies” distance, the road distance to the hotel was over 3 kms and a tuktuk took about...

The hotel is right at the beginning of where the street food vendors set up at night. It's very convenient but not as hectic or as chaotic as further down the street. The staff don't speak perfect English but they all were helpful and friendly (especially housekeeping) Previous reviewers I think have inflated expectations of what hotel services they are...

Booked through Agoda, went in blind, came out deaf. One slow elevator always full. No problem - took stares to 5th floor. Located on the street we wanted but old hotel, not maintained at all. Breakfast horrid but other than that, it was ok...

The hotel is old but well maintained. The rooms are clean , quiet and comfortable. The best food in the area was found to be from the Canton Inn, right next door to the hotel. Proof of the high quality was the constant stream of students, shoppers and local families who dropped in for a meal. Inexpensive dishes were delicious...

We booked and paid in advance through Agoda with no issues. The booking form said we could check in at 10 am. We arrived around 10.30 and waited for a group of around 10 people to be checked in and taken to their rooms. I was asked for a deposit of 1000 baht cash for a deposit. As we were...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
