I agree w earlier review 'best place ever'. banglumphu on the whole is very samey but villa is unique. the house is unusual being wooden and situated in a beautiful garden. the owners (siblings tuey and lek) are kind and also a little eccentric which adds to the charm. unlike a lot of other places in the area the aforementioned...

Though we stayed for one night only, we travelled way back to olden times, where clocks were stopped. Woken by the birds, in the middle of the trees. Basic comfort but an amazing place! And there is an excellent place around the corner for breakfast (Chomp)!

Spacious room with a free towel but wrong time of year to be staying in a house with no A/C. Try stay in a room downstairs as it's a little cooler. Lovely shaded outdoor area. Great owner and great location. Bed was pretty hard and the kitchen needs a little touch up. Great for backpackers staying for few nights.

We stayed in Villa in 1993. We stayed again in 2016 and I swear hardly one thing had moved. Don't come here expecting more than budget level, but it is certainly unusual. The garden is brilliant and such a lovely retreat from the madness of Bangkok. The teak house and all the wooden furniture is lovely. The electrics were so...

I had here in October 2015. The first time i came in Bangkok. I choose this place it looked so homey even it was near the busy and crowded Khaosan Road. I stayed here for 3 nights. The owner named Grandma Lek, she was so kind and humble. After a tiring day this place was the best for rest. I...

This place is like out of time and space. An old wooden house in the Khaosan area, directed by an old nice woman who speaks english better than most of the thai people I met during my trip. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are shared, the price is cheap. What else do you need?!

I was reluctant to stay someplace without air-conditioning, but the beautiful garden and the peaceful quality of the rooms made up for that lack. I ended up staying there for about 6 weeks, off and on, and often recommend it to my friends. The Villa is truly unique and charming. Even though I now have a modern apartment nearby, I...

I loved this place! It's basic (no AC, shared bathroom, no blanket/sheet provided), but it's wonderful. Owned and run by a brother and sister, it's a lovely little hideaway not far from the main tourist area (Khao San Road). Cute little garden for relaxing, it's quiet and laid back. Will definitely book in here if I return to Bangkok.

It is a really nice authentic place with taek floors and a nice and mellow (or slow) couple in charge. The beds aren't that good though, they could use some new mattresses, but overall it is a really relaxed and quiet part of Bangkok, and still pretty close to the more lively parts of town.

... in a very quiet location with a nice garden at the front. Old wooden character home run by a nice elderly couple so not exactly party central if thats what your looking for and perfect if it's not what your after. Rooms are clean, the house is furnished with a lot of old pieces which is nice, bathroom is...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
