It's a big hotel . Rooms, walkway, lobby are huge but hotel is a bit old and need refurbishment. Fair price and easy access to shopping center and few restaurants near by the hotel. We stay only one night and not much experience on hotels' facilities.

Stayed in this hotel one night, it's very hand to go to the shopping mall, the sky train is only a few min walk down the road. Beds are very comfortable and the room is vet spacious. The breakfast was lovely & the staff are very helpful.

The Ambassador hotel is a relatively nice place to stay. It has a pretty good restaurant and helpful staff. The rooms and common spaces seem a little dated, but it's in a good location close to lots of places to eat and drink. There are 7-11s nearby as well as currency exchanges. There is also a very nice market very...

We thought upgrading to a suite would be an upgrade. I suppose it just depends on where you start first. The whole place smells like moth balls, Our suite had no shower just a hose with a hot and cold tap and a seat next to the toilet, God knows how you would stop the toilet paper from getting wet....

the hotel is easy walking distance to the BTS Skytrain, Shopping centers are $10 cab fare, and bars and restaurants all around. The Ambassador is starting to show it's age but still clean and tidy. The hotel caters for large tour groups (approx 80% of the guests) from one particular country, sadly I found these tourists to be rude and...

Hotel looks very nice from the pictures online. It's old and out dated rooms. The air conditioning wasn't working properly. I had to change 4 rooms in two days because the A/C unit was just blowing air. Asked for a refund for the remaining nights they would not do it. I try to sleep in the lobby, they would not...

We booked at this hotel as it was very conveniently located for where we needed to be the next day on Sukhumvit 11; the pictures we saw online showed bright, good looking rooms so we went for it although at US$53/night it was over our budget. We were so deceived ... The room was dingy, dark, with dirty, old carpets,...

Good hotel in a great location. It even has a nightclub in the basement. Handy stopover location to break up a long journey from the UK to Australia. Although the Wi-Fi didn't work in the room so I had to take my emails in the lobby. Would stay ahain

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.

Hi everyone, our family has been staying at Ambassador Hotel on our annual Bangkok Vacation for the last 15 years and we love it as it feels like home and the area is just unbeatable!

The last time I went there was in April 2014 and on this trip we noticed the hotel has fallen a few steps back from what it was compared to 2013. A few things I would like to know :

1. The A/C in the Reception area used to be really good and refreshing to walk into after a full day of shopping but in 2014 the A/C was literally non existent, so what I want to know is - was it temporary or is it still the same ?

How about the A/C in the Tower Wing Ground floor lift area (near the fish tanks ?) and in the AM Cafe. We usually hang around these areas hence the concern.

2. We always stay in the Tower Wing and have found that the Rooms and Washrooms were quite good (no foul smell, cockroaches etc) is the standard still the same in the tower wing?

The house keeping in the tower wing used to do an awesome job cleaning the rooms, how is it now ?

3. Is the hotel still happening like it used to be ? One plus point for this hotel used to be that it was never boring (people always in the lobby area etc).

These questions might be weird to some but this year we will be spending around 17 days during the Christmas and new year season in Bangkok and can't let anything spoil our holiday as it is a very special one this year! if the hotel has really gone down we might have to look for a replacement hotel - sadly :(

Thanks,

Jamie - Sri Lanka.
