Well, first I must say that prior to booking, I hesitated a lot between Mandarin, Peninsula and Shangri-La. The location of those three hotels were the main argument (river view and close to skytrain station). We finally opted for Shangri-La Krungthep wing, after reading the reviews. First on the room itself. We were located on 15th floor, so the view...

Spent five days at the Shangri-La in a Horizon Club room. The room was nice and clean but didn't come with the river view as booked. Front office couldn/t/wouldn't do anything about it. Pool Area was very crowded with extremely loud Indian Pop music. This was part of a four days Indian wedding in the Hotel. Must have been great...

Having visited the Shangri-la on many occasions as it is my favourite place to stay in Bangkok I was dissapointed on my last visit. Not what I have come to expect from the Shangri la. A very obvious lack of staff at the Next2 pool and lounge. Waited to be seated at breakfast then waited again for coffee, no cutlery...

I stayed one night on business. First the lows. I wanted to bring a friend to the club lounge happy hour. I was first told that I would have to pay even though I was the only guest staying in my room (A common club lounge policy is to allow two people access per room). When we actually entered, we...

We only stayed 1 night in the Krungthep Wing and I wish we had time for a longer stay. The hotel is perfectly located to explore Bangkok, is beautifully appointed, managed and maintained. The room was a joy and the staff very attentive. Lovely stay. Thank you.

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
