"This is surely the beginning of a fine relationship" you think as you are greeted instantly and guided either to the front desk or up to the Horizon Club to be checked-in there. The decor is sumptuous in this huge Lobby and the Bar and sitting areas nearby are spacious; large enough for its dance floor. (It was fun to...

It would seem that after now nearly 20 years of having visited bangkok and having stayed at the Shangri La in the Kung Thep wing for most of the time there would be nothing more to say. However every time we stay there it seems harder and harder to go back home. The hotel itself is one of if not...

We stayed here 2 weeks ago & compared to the 2 other hotels we stayed at during our visit,we just didn't feel the warmth & friendliness as we did at the others. I didn't find it terribly child friendly (especially in the pool with lots of rules) I think this hotel is more suited to businessmen, however the rooms we spacious,clean...

Dear 72Lee2015 Thank you for choosing Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. We were sorry to hear that we did not make you feel the warmth and the friendliness of our services, especially to your children. Our hotel is a mix of business and leisure travellers, many with families. Whilst it is true that we have rules and regulations at our pool side...

I have stayed at this hotel many times and although it is corporate it is a delight and a joy. The rooms are amazing. Take the free boat shuttle for dinner at the night market - stunning. The river location is amazing and if you can bear the conference and business delegates flitting in and out it is a lovely...

I have stayed in other Shangri-La hotels but this one was below par. My first impression on check in that as I had booked through a agency I could not alter or change my booking. I was in fact punished by the hotel for not booking directly with them, it set the tone. For an expensive hotel chain their service...

There's only one hotel for us when staying in Bangkok. Located on the bank of Chao Phraya River, it is within easy walking distance to the sky train & ferry. Yes, you will experience noise outside as life carries on for the people of Bangkok, however for us, this allows a glimpse in to those lives. Within the confines of...

We have stayed here more times I can remember, always in the Krungthep wing. First stay was amazing, then they had real Butler service making anything to help, even unpacking our bags and folded our clothes, cocktails were served in the room and everytime you came back to your room something new was added, chocolate, cookies etc. All that is...

Dear cabrahamsson, Thank you for choosing Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. It is our pleasure you back to our city hideaway. We are pleased to read that you had a wonderful stay with us although we were concerned on your feedback on the butler service. Although our butlers do help out in other areas of the Krungthep Wing, this service is still...

My Fiancee and I stayed here in January for a few days before flying to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The hotel is well appointed in a good location and whilst not exactly cutting edge, has an old school charm. Service was excellent, as expected in 5 star Asian hotels. The room was comfortable if a little dated. It felt...

We stayed here on two occasions for a total of five nights in conjunction with a river cruise in Myanmar. While there are several luxury hotels along the river, the Shangri-La property has excellent views out from the lobby, downstairs restaurant with seating both inside and out. Outside is right along the river with views of all the river traffic....

We have stayed in here two times. The hotel has improved since 2011, our first stay. They added new floors to the horizon club which I did not like at all. The club was more crowded so it was not enjoyful to hangout in the club lounge. Still they had a great service which made us feel comfortable. The hotel...

Dear idil k, Thank you for choosing Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. It is our pleasure to have you with us again. The Horizon Club team will be most pleased to hear of your wonderful comment. Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
