Not toddler proof! Let me first say our stay was off to a great start due to the concierge team but our stay was flipped upside down due to a true safety issue. We stayed in room 2532 on the top story of the hotel. We had booked a suite with a separate living and master room. During our stay, my 3.5 year old daughter turned the lock to the master door (circular knob that turned to lock) and locked herself in the master room. We notified the hotel staff right away, and here is when everything went wrong. The hotel took about an hour to unlock the door. The hotel sent two teams of housekeeping staff including the housekeeping manager to try sets of keys and no one was able to get the door open by a master key. They had many staff members really try to jam keys in the door but nothing worked. My heart raced and turned into panic after 15 minutes when my daughter said “mommy the window has a latch and I can turn it to fly to you”. My daughter loves Disney and fairies and is at the age where her imagination can lead her to think she can fly. If the hotel was negligent enough to not have a master key, I then could only imagine it the latches (there were two on two separate windows of the 25th story master bedroom) were not securely locked that were located in arms reach of the windows. The door lock had to be broken and hammered open by maintenance staff. My poor daughter was terrified and screaming through the room she was locked in. My family was panicking and also terrified. We were so grateful almost an hour later when we got our daughter. The situation only got worse the next day when I spoke to the manager. She claimed that they had a master key all along and because we didn’t wait long enough for it ( around 30-40 minutes) her staff had to then break down the door lock. The manager took no accountability for the issue we had and then lied to my face to avoid any responsibility. I hope that she and her staff will address this issue for future guest. I am thankful the latches to open the windows were locked and would also suggest the hotel remove them entirely in addition to having a master key accessible for all locks.…
Stayed at Shangri La Bangkok In Shangri La Executive suit-Suit was large enough for Two adults & our two Kids roll away bed had been made up for kids room had both views of River & city. Level of service is remarkable with staff doing everything they possibly could to enhance our stay, Travelled for Europe We were wide awake at 3am talked to reception on using Gym a duty manager then arranged for Gym to be opened for use. Breakfast at Next restaurant is undoubtedly our favourite hotel breakfast in the world! with choices from all over Asia-Europe & American a real favourite is the Indian corner follows closely by all the other choices-what is a real favourite of ours is the Ice cream station. Suit gave access to Horizon lounge its a nice place to have afternoon tea & pre dinner cocktails with canapés, The staff in the lounge were amazing with some remembering our family from previous visits that we thought was a nice touch. We also liked to finish our evenings with after dinner drinks in the elegance of the long bar. We would like thank all the staff of the hotel-this allowed us to have an another wonderful stay at BKK Shangri-la We found all staff honestly tried to make the guests stay the best they possible could from House keeping that attended our room in the evening to attended to a request we made not forgetting catering team everyone in this hotel deserves recognition. Will we return yes.…
So, so looked forward to revisiting the hotel. We normally stayed in the Krungthep wing but this is closed currently. Check in smooth, the same unmistakable Shangri-La scent in the lobby was lovely and evocative. The rooms are starting to look a little dated, still lovely beds, great views, air con works well. The bathroom was generous in size but I think needs updating. Location still absolutely perfect, slightly awkward to get to boat pier now you can’t use the krungthep exit. Pool was good but really busy and the lay down jacuzzi style beds were not working, pity. My biggest let down was the chaos at breakfast. Now I now it must be hard to predict when people arrive but it was manic- the staff just couldn’t cope with the clearing and remaking tables. The variety of offering though 100%, thanks for this, still amazing. I suppose being busy post Covid is great and there can’t be an easy fix to this issue, but perhaps it just could not cope with the numbers.…
We were visiting Bangkok for the first time in 5 years. My mother who is 83 was with us having lost my dad, her husband of 63 years 6 months ago. We booked afternoon tea on line but on arrival found it was not as advertised on the web site and was not the quintessential afternoon tea that we expected. I spoke to Joy( Charoon saidoun)- the lobby lounge manager. She was absolutely wonderful . When I explained our situation she immediately said that there was no problem. She provided tea and scones and some light bites from the menu. She was attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and beautifully served. Nothing was too much trouble. Joy made, what could have been so disappointing for us, into a wonderful afternoon that we all thoroughly enjoyed. My mother particularly loved the bruschetta and simosa light bites. Thank you Joy and the Shangri la for continuing to be our hotel of choice for afternoon tea as you have been for the 40 years plus that we have been coming to Bangkok .…
Wonderful views from our Deluxe River View Room, both in fine and rainy weather. We had an inter-connecting room with our children, which worked very well. The location is superb - within a short walk of BTS, the metro and Sathorn Pier. From the pier, you can catch the tourist ferry and see all the major sites along the river. It’s just over the river from Iconsiam too. There are plenty of shops, bars, massage shops and a covered food market and an amazing gelato cafe, within a short stroll. Breakfast catered for every nationality and I ate the BEST FRENCH TOAST, bacon and maple syrup ever! Corridors were a bit samey and dull, but the rooms were lush and it was nice to have a hairdryer and kettle. Nice to watch the sunset from the sunbeds facing away from the pool.
A most pleasant three night stay in a Deluxe Balcony Room was had. Staff are professional, check in and out all handled well; the room clean and comfortable with sweeping views of the Chao Phraya River and the associated firework displays. A delight of the Shangri-La Bangkok is that one can take meals on the terrace right at riverside taking in the views of the passing river traffic. The buffet breakfast has a plentiful spread to set one up for the ensuing day. The only negative during the stay was we tried the NEXT2 Cafe Friday night Seafood Buffet and found the quality and selection of seafood to be rather lacking given the cost of the dinner. The available non-seafood selections proved more pleasing! The Iconic shopping mall is just across the river which provides numerous restaurant selections (some good, some bad – choose carefully!) If the Iconic shuttle boat doesn’t stop at the Shangri-La one can just get the shuttle boat to the Peninsula Hotel and have a short walk from there. Overall a pleasant stay and I would recommend staying here.…
Arrived at the Shang-ri-La on the 24th. We were treated very well from the moment we arrived. The front desk mentioned the Horizon Club. We had a delightful time having afternoon tea. The staff in the Horizon Club was wonderful! Outstanding staff! Especially Sumrit, Horizon Club Manager, attentive to our every need! Wonderful personality. He planned everything for us. Can not say enough about what a gem he is! Made our stay here most enjoyable! We chose to come everyday to the Horizon Club because of Sumnit great service and we were so pampered! Looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!! Thank you, Melanie Hiyama
Excellet breakfast! We highly commend the service here. The food is superb. Chef Singh makes great dosa and kulcha. Excellent service too! and we love the masala tea. Ambience is relaxing. All staffs are polite and friendly. Amazing experience!
Well located right on the river however most places require a bit of a trek to visit. Décor is Deluxe but fresh out of 1970. It's quite cool but don't except cutting edge. Buffet breakfast is sensational. Free minibar is confusing. There is a sign saying it's free and also a sign saying the prices....
The Shang is iconic. A great hotel which prides itself on service and quality No shortage of that in my recent stay. Got a nice view as my balcony faced Iconsiam Club horizon lounge access also has nice breakfast and tea options Room is clean and cosy. Hot water running from tub and shower rain. Lots of space and efficiency in room. Staff are courteous and polite, with good level of English. Price is very reasonable Highly recommended if you want to stay near the river and train ride to Siam is only 6 stations.
