Bed was old and very bouncy, shower cycled from warm to cool every 3 seconds, and the laundry was a complete rip off (Almost 2000 bhat for a medium sized load, and wasn’t even folded). Staff was very polite, good location to activities, decent room otherwise. Wouldn’t recommend overall

The Tai-Pan Hotel is located close to Soi Cowboy, a well known adult entertainment district, but far enough away to avoid the crowds and associated noise. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well laid out. There is a bar and restaurant onsite with meals well priced. The breakfast buffet was adequate without being expansive. The pool area isn't large and there isn't a poolside bar available. The staff are very friendly and happy to go out of their way to ensure you have an enjoyable stay,

This hotel is old and tired. The bathroom needs serious maintenance. The curtain rod had electrical tape securing it at each end. When i turned on the shower after first arriving, the bathtub spigot unleashed brown water…maybe it was rust from the pipes. The grout is dirty. The entry door to the room is cheaply made and very loud when shut. The walls are thin so you can hear the guests above you and next to you flushing the toilet and taking a shower. The breakfast is sub-par. This is a low budget hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at the Tai-Pan Hotel. It is reasonably priced and is in a great location, central to public transport and all Sukhumvit has to offer. Room size is large and comfortable, good bathroom and effective air conditioning. Air con can be a bit noisy but just turn the fan down. Bed a little hard in the room I had. Breakfast is OK for the price. I would stay there again no problem.

I have stayed in the Tai-Pan before, so can say that the level of service is consistently good and reliable. It is very short stroll from Soi Cowboy and Sukumvit Road where a lot of activity happens. Near also to the BTS and MRT rail systems and Terminal 21 which is a major shopping mall and an attraction in itself. The rooms are large, the bed comfortable and the A/C will cool you down quickly which can be important in Bangkok. The shower water is hot almost as soon as you turn the tap / faucet on, and he shower pressure is epic, which is not always the case in other places. I booked by phone and paid cash on arrival, instead of using a web booking. Credit card hotel bookings and any credit card use in Thailand can be compromised.

Staffs were very friendly. It did not take much time to check-in. The breakfast was very good at a reasonable price. Considering the price, the room was relatively clean. The location was very good. The transportation/ride was available to the tour attractions at reasonable prices. It has easy access to public transportation such as Sky Train (BTS) and Metro (Subway). The public transportation provides access to most of places (major shopping centers, night entertainments, etc.).

I stayed at the Tai-Pan Hotel for 7 days in October 2019. The room I booked was a Superior grade room, it was very spacious and very clean. While it was not brand spanking new the room was in good condition, the bed comfortable and the air con worked well, I've stayed in a lot worse in more expensive accommodation. I also found all the staff very friendly and very helpful. The hotel has a pool and gym, neither of which I used due to limited time, however they both looked good. The in-house breakfast, while not outstanding, is good enough to get you ready for a day of sightseeing. The kitchen opens at 5.30 am which is convenient if you are being picked up for early morning for tours. There is also an egg station where you can get freshly cooked omelets etc. A tour desk is available in the hotel through which you can book tours. The location of the hotel is excellent and very convenient to Sukhumvit MRT and Asok BTS stations. Next door to the hotel is the Club House Sports Bar with plenty screens for sports with some nice food and drinks. Further down road is Mr. Laundry to take care of washing and ironing at reasonable prices. There are plenty of places to eat close by. The hotel is close to a red light district, Soi Cowboy, however, it never seemed to be unsafe or threatening in any way, just a night time party atmosphere and people having fun.

This hotel is old, tired and outdated. Very basic and limited breakfast offer. Staff unfriendly and unpleasant. Very difficult to communicate. The towels I wash my car with are in a better condition. Great location near pubs and restaurants. Never make use of Tuk Tuk’s .. it is a rip off. You can trust the meter taxis..good value.

I stayed at the Tai-Pan for two weeks. I have stayed here many times over the last 20 years. The hotel is on Soi 23 in a small sub-soi to the left. About 150 meters from Sukhumvit road. It is easy to miss for a taxi, but it is well sign posted. My room was #1705. It is a large room to spread out. There is a control panel near the bed to control the lights and the AC. It was well maintained by Khun Namfon. The room was clean and everything was taken care of. Hot water and AC were good, and there was always adequate linens and amenities in the bathroom. The AC and power in the room function when the room key is inserted near the door. The room has snacks, 2 bottles of complimentary water in the fridge, tea, coffee and a kettle. The hotel also has room service and a laundry service. The furniture in the room is dated. However, for a budget hotel this is quite good enough. All of the hotel staff were friendly. I know many of them, so they remember me. However, even the new staff on the front desk were friendly. After a long day at work or sight seeing in Bangkok, it is nice to return to the hotel and see a big smile and a friendly "wei". The hotel management is service oriented and this is appreciated by the guests. The Breakfast Buffet was very good. It is cheapest to have breakfast included with your room rate. It is my favorite part of the hotel. The Manager does a good job of maintaining good service. The buffet line could do with a little more variety from day to day. However, they are introducing new items from time to time. The menu is Western, Asian and Thai. In most cases the warming trays are maintained so that the food is warm. The Egg Chef needs to be available all the time to give that extra bit of service. Breakfast service starts at 5.30 AM, and there are guests -early risers- there at that time. Some of us have to be at the office by 7 or 8 AM. and some tour group also leave early, so an early breakfast is appreciated. I did not use the pool and gym on the 5th floor, but they both looked adequate. As there are large and small tour groups at the hotel there is no room for a taxi rank. I did find it difficult sometimes to get a taxi - particularly in the morning around 7-8 AM. The parking garage is a nice feature for those with cars. Traffic on Asoke and Sukhumvit is very heavy all day long. However the BTS and MRT rail service are about 5 minutes away by walking. A good cheap Laundry service is just across the street, and Soi Cowboy is about 5 minutes away. There is a small 7-11 type store on Soi 23 at the hotel for snacks and odd things you might want. I think they are open 24 hours a day. There are many restaurants on Soi 23 so there is no shortage of places to go to in the evening. They are all within easy walking distance. Check with the doorman. The big Terminal 21 Mall and the famous Pier 21 Food Court are on Sukhumvit road at the Asoke BTS station. They open at 10 AM and offer good shopping and good cheap meals in the food court. There are also many other good restaurants in the Mall. This all makes the Tai-Pan hotel ideally located for a tourist. The hotel rates are very competitive.
