Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
After an incredible 1-night stay at Banyan Tree KL, we quickly planned for a Bangkok family vacation around a stay at the Banyan Tree Bangkok, but decided to extend it to 3 nights. We figured this to be an optimal time to experience all that the property had to offer. We got an excellent HERA rate (Accor's rate for luxury travel advisers) that apart from its usual inclusions of property credit, upgrade, breakfast, etc was also a “pay 2 stay 3” rate. This coupled with the fact that we were Accor Gold at that time along with our Accor Plus membership made the stay potentially very rewarding. We had initially booked for a Serenity Club room that gave us access to the club lounge. Sometime before our arrival, the hotel decided to rearrange their room classification and so our booked room got mapped into a “Panorama River View” room. I sent an email to their GM Nopparat Aumpa (Khun Kai) which was answered by the director of reservations & sales Phatsakorn Koetthongkham. He offered two upgrade options, either a One-bedroom Suite or a Vertigo Club Park View room, each with an extra bed. Although the former would have been much spacious, the suite was located at their lower floors (23-32) while the Vertigo club room was located at the highest floors (55-58) facing the Lumpini park. Apart from the best location, these rooms included a sunset drink at the Moon Bar (for all 4 of us) and priority booking at the Vertigo.
We arrived at the hotel a little after 10 AM and as we proceeded to the ground floor reception we were quickly whisked away to the Serenity Club lounge at the 19th floor to complete our check-in formalities. We were warmly received by James, the club lounge host, who very nicely explained all our inclusions as we enjoyed a soothing welcome drink after cold towels. We got a room on the 56th floor (#5602) which being at the corner had an excellent view of the park but also the Mahanakhon tower was visible. We thought the room looked a bit dated and was also on the smaller side for a family. On entering there was a full-sized glass-topped work desk on the left along with a chair. On the right, we had a fully-stocked mini bar including a Nespresso machine. There was a daybed-cum-sofa, an oval glass-topped centre table and a single seat chair. The queen-sized bed was at the other end of the room which was on the firmer side. In between, there was a cabinet with drawers that also included their signature aromatherapy amenities. The TV was hanging right on top of this. I had seen some of their rooms to have a walk-in closet but ours didn’t which just had a standard wardrobe. The 5-fixture bathroom was equally compact and it had none of the lavishness of Banyan Tree KL bathroom. They had a bidet toilet but this was of the older American Standard variety which was not that responsive like a modern Toto. The Thai elements in the room were limited except for the framed painting at the headboard. As mentioned, the room was really small and when the extra bed was placed there was not enough space to even keep our three suitcases. Hence we requested the house-keeping to remove the extra bed every day and replace during the evening turn down. This was done every day without any issues. The welcome amenities included some pastries while a nice heart-shaped cake was placed later as we were also celebrating our anniversary. In general, the house-keeping was efficient and each night during turn down they would leave one unique piece of item, a toy or baby lotions sometimes or even a sleep enhancing oil.
The USP of the room was, of course, the views from its two windows which were indeed out of the world. Lumpini park was on the right, the buildings of Sukhumvit visible behind it while on the left you could see Mahanakhon, other Silom tall ones and a few near the Chao Praya too although the river itself was not seen from this side of the hotel. The views were even grander at night with the city lights on and you could perhaps spend hours looking at all this trying to identify the individual skyscrapers.
Among their restaurants we tried Bai Yun, the modernist Cantonese and Saffron, the Thai restaurant. At Bai Yun we went for lunch where among otherthings we tried the shrimp siu mai with black caviar, the steamed scallop on a bed of noodles and the crispy soft shell crab, all of which were excellent. The simpler Yang Chow fried rice tasted better though than the more lavishly presented fried rice wrapped in lotus leaf. The service here was to the point, while it was much rushed at Saffron, their signature Thai restaurant. It was true that we went there without a reservation and about half an hour before their last order time but the servers were also continually running around and dropping things. For example, our host suggested to place the dessert even before we could finish off our mains. Here, the Massaman Curry (Southern style) and the Pad Thai with the jumbo river prawn were good although this was definitely not the best Thai food we had during our trip. We wanted one of our meals at Romsai too, their ground level international/buffet restaurant, but it would always close early and they didn’t seem to serve a-la-carte for dinner at all. Instead, we had one of our breakfasts there. It was not very crowded and the menu was slightly more elaborate than at the Serenity lounge, for example, they had some extra Japanese and Indian items. It was a completely different experience at the Moon Bar when we went for our complimentary sunset drink. We were literally jostling for space all the time with the Bangkok crowd and every square inch of the place was teeming with people given the popularity of the venue. We ordered from a separate and limited menu but it was worth the experience I thought. Although, we didn’t see any actual sunset given clouds always at the horizon it was still nice to have observed the change of scenery as the dusk settled in and the city lights started to glow slowly.
On the other hand, we loved the Club Lounge. Unlike other such places at Bangkok this one was kids friendly too. Their cocktail hours were quite the treat. The food, including hot items, were decent but what stood out was their drinks selection, especially the sparking wines including the rose ones. There were some nice cocktails and mocktails too on their menu and the staff would actively come over to refill your glasses. Of course, beer was always available at the lounge right after breakfast while there was also high tea before the cocktail hours, which we actually missed on all the days. For a Club Lounge the breakfast at Serenity was very elaborate with an egg station that had almost 9-10 items including some very unique local delicacies. There were noodle stations, congee stations, dim sum bar, many hot items, cold cuts and still others. In summary, if you had access to this lounge you could safely ignore the Romsai breakfast downstairs without missing much.
Although a language barrier persisted, it was nothing of the sort we experienced at other similar properties at Bangkok. Here, the staff genuinely tried to understand your queries, were eager to help and would always try to offer some solution. We checked-out from the Club Lounge and while James was off that day our check-out still proceeded without much hiccups. I had saved our food bills so that the USD 100 credit could be applied and I even managed to redeem ALL points to pay off the remaining bill. In fact, the property may be showing its age but the staff more than made up for it and they definitely had been well trained in their art. While a single person should not be credited for this, it goes without saying that Khun Kai, the GM for some time now, must have a very important role to play here. In spite of her busy schedule, she still managed to thank us for our stay as we were walking out of the lounge post check out.

The room was beautiful and very quiet. The view from our room on the 28th floor looked over the city and the river.
The highlights of our stay were definitely having dinner not once but twice at Saffron restaurant. Where we experienced fine Thai food and amazing hospitality from Mark who really took care of us well.
Travelling with our daughter was made easy each step of the way by helpful staff from the breakfast team to great little touches within housekeeping who acknowledged her presence throughout the suite and especially from Mr Wat at concierge for entertaining our daughter.
The location of the property is good as it is very close to the areas for shopping and tourism alike.
A great touch from the hotel is the limousine service, the pickup from arrivals at BKK is every moment luxurious.
One important point to highlight is the cleanliness of this property, the staff have taken great steps to promote personal hygiene and not only do they offer sanitiser throughout but also areas are well cleaned constantly.
This was a great city break and we will most definitely be back again soon.

2 Nights spent here from 19-21 December 2019 - overall a great hotel with good facilities and location.
We upgraded to a high floor with lounge access, complimentary breakfast, snacks, afternoon tea & drinks, along with laundry use. We had river views but if given the choice I would have said the city views are better, the housekeeping staff were really good compared with lots of hotels in Thailand.
Breakfast was good and we ate in the saffron Thai restaurant and the Vertigo restaurant, both were good quality food, my only negative would be that Vertigo is way overpriced for what the menu offers!! we paid £180 just for a tomahawk steak to share, that is TOP money in any restaurant on the planet, but you would get equal quality in a well known steak chain in the UK. The overall level of food quality, detail and service just does not match these extortionate prices.
Special mention goes to SAW he was friendly, polite & funny - but otherwise service just felt a bit lacking compared with other Banyan Tree resorts / hotels.
Thanks for a great stay Banyan Tree Bangkok!

I am writing this post to thank Banyan Tree Bangkok for helping me pull off a dream marriage proposal. The team in-charge was excellent and showed what the epitome of great service looks like. My fiancée and I enjoyed our special stay and it will be a memorable experience for the rest of our lives.
Just to recap my experience, first we were upgraded to presidential suite, which is breathtakingly beautiful. During the day, we experienced the Royal Banyan spa which was one of the best massages we have ever had. In the evening, we had an amazing dinner at Vertigo’s Neptune Deck with stunning views of Bangkok where the food was delicious and the service world-class. I loved the steak and foie grass while my girlfriend loved the scallops. Not to mention the amazing gin-based cocktails from Moon Bar and the complimentary bottle of champagne from the restaurant. Lastly, during the proposal time, the Banyan Tree Bangkok team decorated the room beautifully with balloons, flowers, candles and a TV screen to play a video which I had prepared for my girlfriend. They even helped arrange a professional photographer to capture the special moments and prepared a special decoration in the bedroom and bath. Overall, Banyan Tree Bangkok surpassed my expectations by miles.
I would also like to mention that all of the arrangements occurred at a very reasonable price point. Unlike many luxury hotels, I felt at no point that I was being overcharged just because of the brand. While Banyan Tree Bangkok is not cheap, but its reasonable for the high quality of experience offered by the hotel and its staff.
I would like to thank the following individuals from the Banyan Tree Bangkok team:
1. Jacky, the director of food & beverage and my key point of contact. He made sure that everything went perfectly. While his role is not a typical client facing role, he executed it flawlessly to the delight of his client (me)
2. I would also like to thank Todd, Jacky’s colleague who played a key role in executing the event and liaised with me when needed
3. Golffy, the manager at Concierge who was my first point of contact at Banyan Tree Bangkok who gave me ideas on how to plan the proposal. I had contacted 3 luxury hotels in Bangkok and he was the most impressive in his creativity and speed
4. Pavit and Boom, who served us at Vertigo. Truly bespoke service, giving us privacy while also being present enough to make the experience memorable
5. Prasert, who led the decorations of the presidential suite. It was beautiful and surpassed my expectations
6. Lastly, Khammai and Jirapa, who did the housekeeping and ensured we felt at home at our suite.
I would recommend Banyan Tree Bangkok, especially if you are planning a special occasion and need a great team to help you!

Service: The entire staff was exceptional!!! Extremely helpful with whatever we needed. Also very patient as we were constantly planning activities to do at the last minute. I want to give special thanks to Golf, Eau, Boyo, Jacuie!!!
Rooms: Our party had three rooms, two in the 55th floor and one on the 49th floor. The rooms were very nice. Some had better views than others but they were all nice to look at due the how high up we were. They brought us fresh fruits in the rooms each time we had our rooms cleaned. They also allow two free clothing items to be washed each day. I didn't start taking advantage of that until my last day of the trip. I should have been using that from the start.
Location: The location was fine. There was a park, 7/11, and shopping center within walking distance. Some of our party were in their mid twenties so whenever we wanted to go see the night life we needed to take a taxi somewhere.
Amenities: There are many restaurants and bars at the hotel. Food selection was diverse enough that most people should be able to find some food they enjoy in at least one of the restaurants. The most famous of them are the vertigo and moon bars on the roof. In my personal opinion they were a bit too "fancy" for my taste but the view alone makes them at least a must visit. When I went there was a large crowd so a lot of people clearly vibed with the spot. I personally enjoyed the Saffron sky garden on the 52nd floor more but the time I went it was sparsely crowed so we didn't stay long. I didn't get a chance to visit the pool or spa but I did hit the gym every day. I would say the gym was adequate. Not the worst or best I have been to. The best quality I would say about it is that it was fairly spacious for the amount of equipment they had.
Best: The staff and the views. My toddler niece caught a slight illness before we started the trip. On the second day it got worse. The staff were extremely helpful in assisting us in that situation. They recommended the best nearby hospital and provided free transportation there. Their care and attentiveness really helped put her grandmother at ease.
Least: There was honestly nothing bad about the stay. If I had to pick something I would probably say the location because it was far from the nightlife (but I imagine that would be a plus for some people). I could also say the cost but if it's in your price range/budget I would highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed at the Banyan Tree Bangkok for 4 nights in a Club level room at the end of February and have nothing but praise for the hotel and all staff we came into contact with. The hotel is spotlessly clean as you would expect and we ate breakfast each morning in the lower lobby restaurant as we found the choice and quality of food on offer to be excellent. The Vertigo Bar is something else and the views are spectacular. We found all staff to be courteous and professional but would just like to mention a few; Suleemas and Chonthicha in housekeeping who left our room pristine each day, Sugar and Boom in the Club Lounge were magnificent - always smiling and ready with a refill, they really went the "extra mile" to assist in making our stay that little bit special. I was celebrating a biggish birthday and we were also celebrating our wedding anniversary and the hotel surprised us by delivering a celebration cake to our room twice during our stay! A lovely gesture - greatly appreciated.
Our greatest thanks however have to go Pan and particularly Jackie Cham in the Concierge team. We had checked out and were waiting in the Lobby area for some time on our taxi to the airport when Pan asked what time our transport was coming at. When told they should have been here 10 mins previously he immediately got on the phone and continued to phone the company every few minutes. Not too sure how exactly Jackie Cham became involved but he was absolutely furious with the company and took their non appearance almost as a personal insult. He approached me and said he was organising a taxi to take us to the airport and kept saying it was not good...not good. Almost as soon as he had said this a taxi pulled up and Mr Cham spoke to the driver, gave him at least 500 Baht and apologised to me on behalf of the hotel and we were off. I have no idea what he told the taxi driver but we arrived at the airport less than 35 mins later. I cannot praise the staff at the Banyan Tree too highly especially Pan and Jackie Cham who certainly" went over and beyond". Would definitely stay again.

Arrived on 6th Jan , waited half an hour for the room. Our upgrade to club room 4507 was appreciated , thank you to our travel agent in England who had emailed the Hotel, the room was beautiful and spacious and adequate views.
Throughput our stay one thing we , early sixty, well dressed , well spoken British Indian couple found was that the majority of the staff provided very patronizing service and talk.
We visited the Moon Bar on our first night and Jira looked after us very well so we decided to revisit the next night and lo behold everything was different and everybody seem to be stressed out with no smiling face to be found so we made it a point to speak to the manager and inquired why so much a difference in experience in 24 hours , received a nice ' i understand what you are saying ' smile. After one drink we went for Dinner at Saffron which we did for our four nights and must say that the set dinner with permitted one change was very nice, i am sorry i do not remember the name of the lady who looked after us very well but a big thank you to her.
The concierge arranged for two days private taxis for us and we were very happy with Mr Champ the English speaking and knowledgeable driver, he deserved a good tip and he was not disappointed.
Our sincere request to Management to either remove the lobby bar or just build a new talk of the town lobby bar.
On one occasion i waited at the bar as the lady staff was busy upon her being free i asked a glass of water to take my tablet and was told that there is no water in the bar and she had to go to the concierge desk which is outside the lobby of the hotel, i left in disgust.
On the next day i came to the lobby bar and took a seat and waited 20 minutes and as nobody acknowledged my being there i decided to speak to the manager and explained to him, of course he said sorry but did not convince me to stay longer and he will take care from then on.
On the last evening we decided to randomly check our room bill and the receptionist kindly printed the bill and to our horror we found out that one bill showed an excessive amount charged then what we signed for and upon going through all the the previous bill we also found that one or two bills were undercharged!!!!!!!!!! and we brought it to the notice of the reception manager whose pathetic response was that there was a computer error and upon asking when was the last error like this she replied may be a year ago, we must have wasted anything between 45 to 60 minutes trying to sort out this, i thank her for arranging a bottle of complimentary wine at the Saffron.
I just wish request the General Manager to act urgently to improve guests services all round and redesign the lobby bar.
We were really looking forward to staying at the Banyan Tree but we were just disappointed.

So we were originally looking to stay at the Shangri La hotel in Bangkok. But luckily they were fully booked so we ended up at the Banyan tree.
As soon as we stepped out of the car the staff were all warm and welcoming. Everyone here is so attentive and can't do enough for you.
We were lucky to get a room on the 58th floor. What fab views!! The Vertigo restaurant and moon bar are accessible from the 59th floor. Beware though you actually have to walk up to the 61st floor. So anyone with bad knees may struggle! Views are fantastic. Pricey but nice.
We were half board so ate dinner at the Saffron restaurant twice. Food was great. Although you could argue service was a little slow, you need a minimum of 2 hours for a 3 course meal. But again staff were awesome!
A little shout out to Mr. Wat and Jimmy who both made our last night special. My friend and I booked the Saffron river cruise and biy was it worth it. A 5 course meal in a new boat...great staff who were super attentive just was the cherry on top.
Mr. Wat asked Jimmy to look after us and he sure did by giving us a lovely table on the upper deck. We had the whole deck during dinner to ourselves. It was fab.
We also used the spa on our first day! Again it was a bit pricey and you could definitely find cheaper outside the hotel buf honestly the quality of the massage, the rooms, the therapists are all exceptional so worth treating yourself to something a little bit more special.

I purchased a staycation package for a birthday weekend and we had the most wonderful vacation experience. It was my first time staying at a Banyan tree and I was really impressed with the level of service from booking through to checkout. We were upgraded kindly and given a suite on the 56th floor overlooking the city. We had a great view of the river and skyscrapers from every window. The serenity club suite was incredibly spacious with a lounge area, coffee machine, complimentary fruit, huge bathroom with bath and separate shower and comfortable bed over looking the city. I really appreciate Eve helping me book at the last minute and finding a table reservation for dinner.
We had a set dinner at the Vertigo restaurant which we loved, the views are a once in a lifetime experience even if your afraid of heights. The weather was perfect for summer dining and we didn’t find it too hot. The restaurant sang happy birthday and brought a slice of chocolate cake as a surprise which was very kind. The breakfast was A la carte as the buffet was closed for Covid 19 regulations however it was “all you can eat” style. We enjoyed eggs Benedict and cappuccinos. I was impressed the breakfast stayed open until 11am!
We had the most wonderful stay and I couldn’t rate it higher, for sure we will stay again in the future!!

Enjoyed a lovely evening celebrating my friend's birthday. Extra precautions taken on the wake of Covid. Upon entry our temperature was taken, and hand sanitizer was provided before entering the dining area. Lak was our server, he was knowledgeable and answered menu questions. He also asked if there were allergies in the group, which there are. We enjoyed the 4 course menu. The food was delicious. Service was beyond extraordinary. From helping with photos to singing, acknowledging food allergies in the group and helping with photos, even singing happy birthday to my friend. Everyone was beyond kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend for a romantic evening or just a nice, calm relaxing dinner. Exceptional views and exceptional service. Thank you also to Ms. Aom and Mr. Ah. Truly a great way to end our stay.

It is advisable to book for Saffron especially if you would like to have a table with a view. Also advisable to book for the rooftop bar if you want to get a seat with a view of the city skyline.
