Stayed here 3 nights at the beginning of our 3 week tour of Thailand and Cambodia. My husband and I love staying in luxury properties and had very high expectations for this legendary property and it did not disappoint. The VIP arrival service was an amazing start, we were greeted at the jetway and escorted onto a buggy that sped...

There's this ad by KIA in the recent Superbowl parodying the Matrix film. Morpheus offers a couple the choice between a blue key and a red key. They could take the blue key and "go back to the luxury you know", or take the red key and "never look at luxury the same way again." My wife and I felt...

Spent two days at the Mandarin Bangkok after taking the Eastern and Oriental Express train from Singapore and before fluing to Siem Reap/angkor. Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is all what you expect from the Mandarin. We had a split level premier room with butler service. Very good size room. Bathroom was a bit dated but nothing was missing (although no separate...

This is my third or fourth visit here, I have to say I wasn't as wow'd as the first few times time however it still rates as marvelous as the first visit. I always stay in the Mandarin Room, I love the space and the bathroom and lounge area. The little balcony over looking the river is perfect. I highly...

What a lovely hotel with excellent staff so happy to be of service and they have made our stay a wonderful experience from pick up at the airport to checking in for departure using their wonderful limousine service. We had read all about the storied history of this hotel and decided that we wanted to experience it despite the fact that the room rates were double those of other nearby 5 Star hotels. Our experience was mostly good. The service, for the most part, lived up to the hype with hotel staff addressing you by name and the...

Oriental hotel is still the property to stay in Bangkok, visited 7 years ago and it still brings only the very best to its guests. A magical and finest experience awaits the most discerned guests. Le Normandie restaurant needs to be reserved in advance if possible. The rooms are first class and the spa is a must if time allows...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
