The actual room is a decent size, big closet, good safe, and the bathroom is also good. The best things about the hotel is the aircon, the service, the internet will cost you about $35 for 7 days or $25 for 3 hours, and the view (although the windows are quite dirty). Also the bed is huge. The only negatives...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights at the Grand China - although the cheapest of the 8 hotels during our stay in Thailand, it turned out to be one of the most memorable. Our flight arrived in Bangkok very early in the morning, so we arrived at the hotel around 5.00am. Our check-in time wasn't supposed to be until midday,...

Stayed November 2010 Our 7th stay, and impressed with update to bathroom area. NOT impressed with bed, the HARDEST ever experienced in ANY hotel. VERY impressed with breakfast area. Terrific range, and mostly WARM, sometimes even hot, food, unusual for most hotels in asia. Omelette crew as good as any to be found. Front desk staff efficient and smiley. Concierge...

Great place to stay with a good view of the city (if you are on the upper floor). Room is spacious and the staff is kind. Breakfast is adequate and Chinatown is just around the corner. There is a bus stop in the neighbourhood, but taxi's and tuk tuk are plentiful so getting around is no problem.

My wife and I stayed here at the start of a three week trip to Thailand. The hotel is a little bit dated but the room rates make this an excellent value for money proposition. We were here over the Xmas holiday and really enjoyed our time here. There is a great breakfast buffet with lots of choice and staff...

Booked into this hotel as part of an airfare price, it was a little less expensive than using the Indra Regent as part of the package. Had already stayed at the Indra which was good but decided to have a look at Chinatown on this trip. Had read reviews some of which were not as complementary as others. Our (my...

Has a great stop over here. Breakfast covered a huge range of taste. Staff were helpful and efficient. What more can one ask of a mid-priced hotel? LAH, UK

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
