We had a great stay here as a family. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, even though we didn't really eat there, we had all equipment to do so, plus a washing machine/dryer which was a bonus. The pool and play deck are a great option to cool off after a day of sight-seeing. The breakfast is good, although they are sometimes a bit short of tables (and staff) if you come at the busiest time around 9am. All staff very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is well situated around 10 min walk from phloen chit sky train, and easy to get taxis everywhere if you avoid rush hour. Loved it and didn't want to leave!!

This was our first of 4 hotels over a 14 day stay in Thailand and served us well to kick off our tour of Thailand. The hotel was immaculate and the stay unbelievably attentive, supporting and genuinely caring. The staff definitely made us feel at home after a 28 hour flight. We arrived around midnight and there were no issues arriving late. This hotel is in a quieter part of Bangkok with a lot of green spaces making for a peaceful location in such a bustling city. The rooms had everything we needed for a comfortable stay along with a pretty good fitness center to work off booze and food:-) The breakfast was wonderful with very good coffee - usually I don't remark on coffee, but for this place, I found it very delicious. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and helpful so use them. They also had a dude out front to help get you across a busy street if needed and that was pleasantly unexpected. Be sure to tip that person as they literally risk their health for you.

The ORIENTAL RESIDENCE is an apartment building of the highest standard in Bangkok's embassy district. Due to the direct location at the embassy gardens it is wonderfully quiet, in the middle of the city and 10 minutes walk to Sukhumvit. Nice rooms with everything you need, nice SPA and pool area and 2 very good restaurants. Great service, very dedicated staff

We stayed here for 3 nights in the corner suite just last week - I am pregnant and had put in specific instructions regarding the same. Going to write down the pros and cons:
Pros: wonderful location, great ambience, large clean room (if you’ve taken the corner suite), and largely prompt service - they even sent someone to fix my bed at midnight and offer turndown service 2 times a day. The grilled cheese at Cafe Claire for breakfast is delicious! The pool and gym areas are also lovely!
Cons: The mattress is TOO soft and when you request for a firmer mattress it’s extremely uncomfortable- I struggled to sleep especially cause I was pregnant; the breakfast- all 3 days had the same menu and same buffet - the people at Cafe Claire truly made me feel like I’m in a snooty cafe in France - upon requesting for some food from the breakfast to be packed for me for the airport (only cause I’m pregnant and get hungry did I make this request) they refused and asked me to order to my room and pay for it separately to pack the food in takeaway boxes. While I don’t expect any special treatment otherwise or even while pregnant - I left hungry and the least they could do while I paid for a high category room and stayed for 3 days was pack some food for me while I’m pregnant.

Dear niralit2015, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad you enjoyed our location, service, and amenities. However, we’re sorry to hear that your mattress and breakfast experience didn’t meet your expectations, especially given your pregnancy. We’ll look into offering firmer mattress options and improve flexibility around food requests to better accommodate guests in similar situations. We value your feedback and hope to welcome you back for a more comfortable stay in the future. Best Regards Pornprakasit Pratumsuwan Guest Relations Officer

I have stayed here twice before about 10 years ago and was looking forward to my return. The hotel has a stellar central location and is in the unusual position of being in a very green area of the city bordering on two large old embassy properties.
ALL the staff are incredibly helpful, polite, efficient and kind including front desk, concierge, bellman, housekeeping, and wait staff at the restaurant.
The public areas are beautiful, with lots of fresh flowers and natural light.
The views from the upper floors are gorgeous and we didn't hear any street noise.

The property does need a few improvements in the following areas and the management needs to focus on this to remain competitive.
1) Suites: Furniture and mattresses are squishy, aging, and need replacement. LIghting is very dim; with no bedside lamps in the smaller bedroom. Table and standing lamps would help a lot.
2) Pool: is freezing and actually not at recommended healthy temperatures (per American Red Cross).
3) Restaurant: On my previous visits, the breakfast buffet was extensive, interesting, and delicious. This time, the self serve options were limited with a few fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, and the baked goods were quite basic. The a la carte items were pretty good but certainly not excellent as they were in the past. The staff at the restaurant are extremely kind and helpful but they are definitely overwhelmed by the large mobs that show up at breakfast.

We come to Bangkok a few times a year to escape island life in Bali and enjoy city life for few weeks at a time. The hotel is located on a clean street with great sidewalks for family walks, in between the beautiful Lumpini Park, and a large Mall, with many great things in between.

The staff have been seeing us over the years, and seeing our children grow. They always remember everyones in my families names, and we are always met with smiles and special greetings.

This hotel understands the true meaning of "hospitality" , including all levels of the staff along with service to the rooms, upkeep of rooms and furniture, etc. We have never had a bad day at the Oriental Residence and we will continue to visit and stay on all of our Bangkok trips.

***The beds are extremely comfortable , wow.

Thanks again Oriental Residence team

I've been around the world for decades: Europe; the United States and Asia the destinations of my business trips. I have resided in many hotels and in every place I have sought Quality; Comfort; seriousness and speed in the services that I finally found here at the Oriental Residence!
All the staff , from valets to Butlers are of an exquisite cordiality ; always smiling and ready to turn your stay into an unforgettable experience .
Italian Chef Michele will make you miss home with "a piece of bacon always ready for carbonara" and Wat ... Wat is incredible!
Everything sees and everything prepares. He already knows what you're going to ask him and is ready, with his big smiling eyes behind his service mask, to find the best solution to your needs!
On the fourth floor the swimming pool with relaxation area and gym room will give you pleasant moments of leisure and the rooms, what about... real representative living rooms that lead to the sleeping area with walk-in closet and bathroom, worthy of princely palaces!
Oriental Residence is my Home in Bangkok and I am delighted to have discovered this little corner of Paradise in the chaos of this infinite city.

I had a great stay at this little gem of a hotel with its chic, understated elegance. Sing Sing the receptionist is very friendly and charming young lady, and the check in formalities were completed In a couple minutes. To my pleasant surprise, in spite of my early noon arrival, my room was ready for me. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished with a luxurious bathroom.

The pool was superb - partially covered for those wishing to avoid the sun, with comfortable lounge chairs lining it. The second floor bar does great PinaColadas…

Breakfast was excellent - a great choice of buffet breads and cheeses with a la carte options included in the price. Great coffee too…

I’m looking forward to my next stay there!

This hotel is not part of any major hotel chain; they belong to Onyx rewards which is mostly in Thailand (Amari and Shama hotels) and also a handful in surrounding countries; the problem is that it's not far reaching and worldwide but also that member benefits are very weak and not competitive with big hotel chains. So for people who stay in hotels frequently, unfortunately Oriental Residence Bangkok cannot stack up because the big hotel chains offer free breakfast, lounge access, suite upgrades, etc. for top tier elites whereas at Oriental Residence I did not get any of that so it's hard to get good value for the money for me by staying at this hotel.

The reason I stayed this one time, is that they also belong to Mr & Mrs Smith which recently got purchased by Hyatt so while I could not get on property benefits at least it was my one opportunity to at least earn Hyatt points when buying MMS gift cards which I then used for the stay at Oriental Residence.

While this hotel cannot compete with the big chains, I can see that for travellers who do not participate in the loyalty programs of any chain, this hotel can be a decent choice. It felt luxury level and in terms of the quality of the room & hardware, it can compete with St.Regis, Park Hyatt, and Kimpton. In Bangkok, Oriental Residence is normally cheaper than all of them.

I booked the entry level room which was not that small, there was a mini-kitchen and cooking equipment, had a nice view overlooking the park behind, and the bathroom toiletries were Panpuri which was a nice touch. So there are definitely some strong points.

Will I come back to this hotel considering the benefits are slim to none? I don't know. The hotel is nice but in my situation it's a tough sell. Right now this hotel is part of MMS but has not joined Hyatt yet; if they don't join I will probably not return but if they become bookable via Hyatt then I would be more inclined to stay again.

My wife and I recently spent 17 nights at Oriental Residence, and the entire experience was superb. The location is very convenient--quiet (for Bangkok), safe, and surrounded by a green belt. Shops, malls, and restaurants are all within walking distance; the hustle and bustle of downtown Sukhumvit is an easy 10 minute walk away. Taxis and Grabs have no problem finding this property, which is no small thing in Bangkok. We had a one bedroom 70 square meter apartment overlooking the adjacent park. It was very well appointed and spacious. The bed was unusually comfortable and the room was quiet and dark at night. High quality toiletries are provided. Service from every department was top drawer. The staff, without exception, were professional, friendly, and very efficient. I really can't complement them enough. The on-site restaurant, Cafe Claire, is a gem. High quality food, a convivial ambience, and lovely staff. Breakfast, by the way, is terrific value at approximately $15.00 per head. They have a good selection of a la carte dishes on the menu from which you can select any two with limitless sides including crispy bacon, hash browns, etc. The coffee was hit and miss, but everything else was spot-on.
The only two cons were the pool and the gym. I found the pool area rather sterile and not particularly inviting. To be fair, it was undergoing renovation at the time, so I never saw it at its best. I also don't particularly care about a pool in a city hotel, so it wasn't a big deal for me.
The gym is a tiny room with the bare minimum of equipment. Not at all fit for purpose for an otherwise excellent property. Perhaps the hotel has plans to upgrade this in the future?
Having said all that, would I be back? Absolutely! This is a high end property in a very convenient location with wonderful staff. The two negatives mentioned above are far outweighed by the positives. Highly recommended.

At the Belvedere, check-in is 3pm. However of course, if the rooms is ready before that, check-in is possible earlier and if the room was not occupied the day before, even in the morning. Check-out is 11am, as otherwise it would be impossible to have all rooms ready by 3pm. However if the room will not be taken again on the day of your departure, a later check-out is possible. But keep in mind, 3pm check-in, 11am check-out.
