Now, I liked my stay here, but let me be clear in saying that it is in no way a 5 star (its rating on Booking) hotel. It's a fantastic 3 and a half. Okay, so the grounds are really nice, as is the staff, who are so friendly, the back and forth to the Pra Athit pier boat service, but the rooms are really quite old and plain. If you are one of those people that likes to lounge around your hotel room, watching netflix or some random channel on the tv, this is not your place. Everything else about the Praya is nice, except for the actual rooms, which are just 100-year-old bedrooms that have been converted into hotel rooms. With that said, it's about the area where the Praya is, being down by the river, Khaosan Road, the old city and all that, and not about staying in a modern convenienced hotel. It's a quaint place that is good for a few nights. Oh, the breakfast is decent and the dinner menu did look interesting, although I ate across the river.

Lovely colonial designed palazzo. The boat ride is quite of a journey! It gives us excitement and eagerness as we where greeted by warm smile; welcome. Cozy room in a nice colorful setting. Beautiful vegetation complementing the architecture of the building. An ideal escape and weekend for those living in Bangkok but also for those traveler who are looking for a peaceful surrounding in a busy city. Nice Thai dining menu and sumptuous breakfast in the morning. With only 15 room and a spacious indoor restaurant we felt very comfortable as social distancing and other covid measures were well followed. Thanks for a nice stay.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐳𝐨, 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐤 has resumed welcoming guests so we took the opportunity last weekend to get to know this charming hotel a little better. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣💛 The first thing you need to know is that you can only arrive at this rather exclusive little hotel (15 rooms) by their private boat. ⁣We left the car at the Wat Rachathiwat Pier and the car was fine for the weekend. There is a closer pier if coming by taxi. ⁣ 💛 I felt comfortable booking this hotel because of their extra health and safety measures in the current Covid-19 climate - Staff wore masks, rooms deep cleaned, towels were safety wrapped and low guest occupancy. ⁣ 💛 When you enter the hotel grounds you can’t help but immediately feel at ease. The 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 location is peaceful. The soothing yellow buildings, the swimming pool amidst the gardens, and you will wake to the little birds singing! ⁣ 💛 I loved the vibe here, it was a bit like going to stay at our rich Thai friend's house (if we had any!) ⁣The staff were all so helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted. ⁣ 💛 History buffs will love the Siam period decor, you feel like you have stepped back in time. ⁣However, do be aware that whilst this mostly comes with all mod cons there is the odd peeling paint and maybe a slightly old fashioned bathroom. ⁣ 💛 I felt like I was on a movie-set. What’s more, I was the star of the show! This hotel is popular for weddings and special events (usually!) and they are excellent with their customer service. ⁣We were celebrating a significant birthday and they did a good job making the birthday boy feel special. ⁣ 💛 We stayed in one of the suite rooms, the bed was firm. I loved the elegance of the 1900’s those colourful walls, the antique furniture of a bygone era. ⁣ 💛 The biggest highlight was all the delicious Thai food. Our 5-course Thai set dinner was wonderful. Congratulations to Chef Na.⁣ Breakfast included a western-style menu but it is the Thai food that will leave the lasting impression ⁣ 💛 Loved the swimming pool area - we ate all our lunches beside the river.⁣ Loved being taken to Rama 8 Park early morning (by boat!) and walking back to the hotel. The local community surrounding the hotel is a vibrant one it's off the beaten track for most tourists. ⁣ 💛 A massive thank you to all the staff, you do an awesome job, we had an unforgettable and special weekend. ⁣

Such a lovely hotel. The staff can't do enough, they are all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is amazing. We had the tasting menu and loved it. The waitress was fantastic. So knowledgable about the history of thai food and keen to share her knowledge.
