This is a great location and cheap place to stay in the centre of the action of Soi Rambuttri/ Khao sarn. It looks very inviting from outside, the large central steps flanked with columns. However, ..the rooms are tired and scruffy. ours was dirty, dirty blinds, curtains, ancient bathroom etc. Worse than this is the sour faced receptionist who clearly hates... More

The toilet always got stuffed, a few times a day (even when throwing paper only to the trash) except for that the room was ok. The girls at the desk were not nice at all.(the boy at night was nice) if its your last option go for it, otherwise i would think twice.

Rooms and bathroom decently clean but walls actually..black and dirty. Hot shower and good breakfast (with coffee/tea, toast with jam, milk and fruit) even if at the desk and on the papers they say "little breakfast".. By the way it's a good compromise for a few nights downtown. We checked in late night with a very nice guy, the day... More

The place in nice and reasonable clean. But the owner ( the Thai lady ) is the worst person I have meet during my journey. If she do not understand something in English she is yelling with very irritating voice. Even when we ware at the room we could hear her iritating voice when she was yelling to somebody else... The lady at the front desk during the day is the worst person I've ever met she hates her job obviously she was more than unhelpful even yelled at times. Rooms need updating but we're ok but that thing at the front desk made it more than undesirable. She should be fired I watched her yell at walk in customers... More

It's a good location but the front desk lady has no respect for anyone. Even as a paying customer she makes you feel out of place. Do not let her bully you and do not pay until you have things in writing. The rooms are older and not well kept but the location is very close to Khoa San road.... More

Positive: The location is extremely convenient, close to Khaosan Rd, relatively quiet pedestrian street, especially the rooms at back. Negative: Extremely unfriendly owner. No elevator, no help by staff either. Very basic rooms, bare, not cleant but not dirty either. Price of room with a/c is 600-650 bt.

We have come to Thailand many times and have always stayed here. Over the years the value has gotten worse though, breakfast is no longer included and the rooms that were clean and neat 7 years ago are now worn and a little dirty. That being said, still better value than lots of places in the Khaosan area. The top... More

The pillow was very uncomfortable, the shower was kind of cold, the paint in the bathroom was mould, but it's a cheap room, perfect for backpackers, very close to Khao San Road where the nightlife is. Downstairs, the living room is nice and you can use computers. The Wifi is good.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
