Detailed Reviews
This hotel remains one of the best value in Bangkok. The rooms are always spotless and the amenities are up to par, especially considering the price and the location, near the BTS, the Chayo Praya express, etc. I stayed here for a full month between January and February. What sets this hotel apart is the quality if the service. Once again, Ploy Nirachanok and her colleagues went above and beyond the expectations in order to insure my satisfaction. The quality of the food is fair, considering the price. The noon lunch from monday to friday is a good value. There are numerous other offerings in the area of th hotel. The fitness center was much improved this time. The pool is small but fine for relaxtion. Of course, when staying a month at the same hotel, you may encounter less satisfactory things. This time, the worst thing that happened to me was a guy who insisted on playing his bluetooth speaker poolside. For the rest, a perfect stay. The only downside of the hotel is the proximity of the highway. It can be a plus side too.

Location is good as it is close (walking distance) to Sathorn pier and next to the highway so it has easy access to the airport. I found it quite convenient to go to the main sites (palace, wat arun etc) as it is 10 min walk from Sathorn pier where you can hop on a boat to take you to either the sites or the riverfront malls (asiatique, iconsiam etc). Some quite good restaurants and a huge western style supermarket (Robinson) to buy stuff for your baby are very close too. Thai massage shops just nextdoor. Personnel is super attentive, polite and willing to support by any means. There is also a nice kids play area at the lobby, with some comfy couches around that you can relax and have a drink while keeping an eye to your tod playing around.
To the negative side:
I guess we were unlucky, as our room (Superior Deluxe) emitted a constant smell of sewage not to mention it was the smallest room we ever stayed for that amount of money we paid (a couple with a young infant and two suitcases hardly left any breathing space for all of us). Amenities felt cheap and quantities were small, for example u needed two or three passes fo shower gel to take Bangkok's sticky sweat off your skin let alone the hair dryer stops every 1 min of full function to cool down, which is annoying. Breakfast is ok but breakie area can get very crowded and feel clogged.
Although the location is great, I'd expect some higher standards from a 4star hotel of this chain and especially for the Deluxe versions of their rooms which cost significantly higher than similar rooms in Sukhumvit area.

+1
Average hotel price although one can get a cheaper price online. Overall I would rank it a 7. My issues were. Only one side of the bed has a outlets, there are no outlets in the bathroom. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom but its hard wired. The lip on the shower floor is A) not a continuous piece and B) the lip is to low, those two factors contribute to a puddle of water waiting for you when you step out the shower. Room cleaning shows up early between 9 and 10am. Most of the staff speak and understand English pretty well. There is rooftop mini bar with a waist high swimming pool. The fitness room is small but it's clean and the equipment is in good condition. It's in a tourist-oriented location and that was okay for me, considering my trip was unguided, it gave me a chance to speak with the locals about food and activities. Yes I would stay at this hotel again.

Apparently, the hotel has just reopened after renovation (what I was told at the reception) I do NOT advise going there now.
When you arrive no one takes your luggage, when you leave neither do they offer any help. The hotel looks like an empty hall where nobody works and there are no customers. It's very dark. When you arrive you really don't have the impression that it's open. It looks more like a company office than a hotel.
I think they are aware that it is not normal to receive customers like that so when we arrived at the reception they upgraded our room. I thought it was nice but then I understood why: it was to compensate for the poor stay.
First of all, all the services are closed (gym, bar, kids corner, restaurant, spa, etc) but this is not their fault, it's due to Covid. So ok, fine.
However, they didn't even install the wifi yet. At the reception we were given a portable router that was supposed to give us 4G, the signal was so weak that I couldn't even check social networks with it let alone watch Netflix. So no internet in the hotel.
Apparently, they don't have any employees either: nobody came to clean our room, make the bed or take the trashes.
The shower was badly built so the water doesn't drain, it stays in the middle of the shower tray and ends up forming a pool.
The pipes make a horrible noise at night: it's as if your neighbor was using his toilet all night long, I don't know what we heard if it was water running, a problem with the air conditioning but it really prevented me from sleeping.
The TV although offering about 100 channels is of poor quality, there is no list either so you have to go through the channels one by one to find a program that interests you.
The positive points are that the area is quiet and not too much traffic. You are near the Chao Praya River, 5 minutes walk from a Familly Mart and 10 minutes from a big 7/11. 10 minutes by cab from Siam Paragon and very close to the Embassy of France and Portugal (if you have to go there like me it's convenient). The breakfast is served in the room but they offer a large choice and the staff who brought the food was very nice.
But honestly, I was really disappointed by my stay, the hotel is not ready to receive customers, I don't think it deserves 4 stars. I'm a loyal customer of Accor (many stays in Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis, etc), so I can compare: it's the worst stay I've done with Accor. I am thinking of writing to the management to get my money back because I really don't see why I should pay for such a stay.

I stayed in Novotel Bangkok Silom Road hotel for 3 nights during my trip to Bangkok in September 2019. Location of the hotel is very good with many Indian restaurant like Saravana Bhavan, Indian Delight etc located within walking distance. This hotel is a big one with 20 floors. I was allowed check in at 11.30 am without any extra charge but one has to give a refundable deposit of 1000 baht per night during check in. My room was spacious with king size bed, sofa, working table, cupboard, attached bathroom with all modern amenities and a good view of the tall skyscrapers in Silom. Complimentary breakfast was very good with wide variety of options.

This hotel is more like a holiday inn express small rooms basic furniture hard bed shower low pressure service ok. The lighting in the room is very dark and depressing. AC didn’t work well.
There is a shul and shabat meals in the 4 th floor of this hotel so this is convenient and they have a special rate for chabad.

This is the second time we stayed in Novotel Silom within a year. The charming part is that we were kind of unhappy with our first stay but through the faith for the Novotel brand, we decided to give it a 'shot' again 6 months later.
No regret!! the team has really shown their Thai hospitality colour and after three nights, we were smiling from ear to ear.
It is through the leadership of Ms. Penny(Front Office Manager) that motivate and guide her team to show warm and hospitable service along with the pristine environment. Even though she is on maternity leave, she still has her heart to make sure "the show will go on" On top of it, she has a dear staff name: Ploy. She is extremely helpful and joyous. She would make you have this feeling that it's Christmas everyday. Smiling with laughter and having the discipline of not letting any guest unhappiness unresolved. She stated personally that even it is small matter, it has to be straighten up. I like this attitude. I only met Parry on the day I checked out. She is another lady full of smile and make a good front line especially when she has shown her attitude of "always ready to assist" in her action. Our rooms are clean and conducive. No problem on the location. Will be back to meet old friends

Rooms are small, but have the essentials. Shower head was very clogged with limescale and needs cleaning. Had to request more shower gel and shampoo every day. One tiny bottle for two people showering twice a day just isn't enough. With almost no guests, and the breakfast room empty, the buffet service is currently suspended. The pool is also closed at the moment. I like the location and the staff were helpful and courteous.

We arrived at 1pm, a few hours earlier than the normal check in hour, yet the front desk had no problem accommodating us and got us a room rather quickly without any extra charge. While we were having our welcome drink and waiting for the room to be ready, a few other guests arrived and were given the same warm treatment.
The room was hot when we first got in, but it cooled down enough after we came back from lunch.
There is an unheated & unshaded pool; the vinyl cover of the stools got very hot under the sun.
The onsite restaurant is nothing to write home about, just good enough to fill you up if you don’t feel like going out.
The location is excellent. The pier is only 10 minutes’ walk away, from there you can take the shuttle boat to see the Grand Palace, Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) etc.

Firstly, I will say that this is by far the cheapest ACCOR hotel i have ever stayed ($311aud for 7 nights on trip.com)
The first room i stayed in was tiny, as i expected, (you could flush the toilet from your bed!) room 1914, nice view and plenty storage, the t.v. had 3 or 4 English speaking channels, fair enough.
I went to the pool area, my initial reason for moving to this hotel, but the pool was green and murky, i complained to reception and requested a bigger room for the inconvenience.
The staff here are very good, and i received an upgrade to a much bigger room , with the same view on level 17, also the pool was blue the next day, excellent.
The reception staff seem to be overworked, but do their best to accommodate.
My new room, even although bigger, had problems, there was a bad smell from the toilet, it had a light bulb out in the already dimly lit room, i asked staff to replace the bulb, but they brought me a big lamp instead, again thanks, to the staff.
A light above the sink in the bathroom would flicker on and off.
Strangely this room had zero English channels, about 20 Thai and 20 Indian channels (not sure how many Thai people use Novotel?).
The aircon in the gym didn't work.
The cleaning staff do not clean the rooms, the table had not been wiped down and the paper thin carpet had definitely not been vacuumed in two days (I am writing this review after 2 of my 7 days).
I had tired of complaining by this point, and just put up with it.
Back to the cheap price of the hotel, the lobby is nice, the pool and gym are OK, the reception staff are nice, location is O.K.
To summarize this hotel needs a good clean and some updating.
This is very evident as soon as you exit the lift to your room, again stained/worn carpets everywhere.
,
The rooms are no different, with old broken furniture and dead carpet, I would not walk bare foot on this carpet.
The bedding needs replaced along with many other things.
AN ACCOR hotel at this price is crazy, however there are better lesser known hotels nearby for the same price, in much better condition (Furama Silom is a 10 minute walk further up Silom Road.
I would not stay here in the future.
